Not all I had hoped it would be

This is my first Chromebook. I am very comfortable with any OS, mac, Windows, Linux. When I heard Chromebooks now had Linux support out of the box I decided to finally go ahead and buy one. I waited to write this review until I had used it for a couple of months so I could get a real feel for the user experience. I bought this particular model because of the size, screen resolution, and integrated stylus and the fact it seemed to get support for Linux earlier than most others. On all those fronts, the laptop is fantastic. It has great resolution. I can install and use Android apps or install Linux apps with ease. The performance is perfectly acceptable to me. So why not give it 5 stars, or at the very least, 4 stars. It really comes down to build quality and a couple of annoying little quirks that really take away from the greatness that this could be. The screen resolution is great. The display is nice and crisp.... but. There is distortion on the corners when you have a dark background like the bezel is too tight. You don't see it most of the time while you are using it, but any time there is a black background, you see it. This includes every time you open the launcher screen. It just makes the laptop feel low tier. Then there is the flex. As you carry it around, it just constantly makes noise from all the flex. It just isn't... tight. It creaks and pops and makes noise constantly. I have never had a laptop that made this much noise when you moved it around. The keyboard is solid, the trackpad is nice, but the constant creaking and popping just makes what should be a great experience feel... not so great. Even if it is sitting in your lap every time you place your palms on it or lift them off, it creaks and pops. Then, lastly is the wireless issue. You will be using the laptop and then, all of a sudden, the wifi will drop out. For a laptop that essentially requires wifi to work, this is problematic. When it happens, there will be no wifi devices visible, so the wifi is completely out. It isn't like it just lost connection to the network I was connected to. It seems to happen at random. No amount of toggling airplane mode or disabling and re-enabling the wifi will bring it back after this happens. You have to power the whole laptop down and power it back up again to get it back. This always works. Rebooting always brings it back, so it is definitely a software issue of some kind. This is totally unacceptable. It also seems to happen with bluetooth too, but not as often, or maybe I just don't use bluetooth as much. Hopefully this will get fixed in some future software update, but for this reason and this reason alone, I couldn't recommend this laptop to anyone. So in summary, ChromeOS is fine. Better than I was expecting actually. Being able to install Android and Linux apps out of the box is great. The display on this is so close to great but is ruined by the distortion in the corners when the screen is dark. The keyboard and trackpad are great, but they are ruined by the constant creaking and popping of the various plastic surfaces sliding across each other every time you shift or move. If I had paid a couple of hundred bucks for it, I could probably forgive those things, but as chromebooks go, this wasn't the cheapest out there so maybe I was expecting a little more out of it than I got. I bought this because I wanted to have a good first chromebook experience, and I wanted to try a chromebook myself before I recommended them to others. I really couldn't recommend it to anyone because of the wifi issue requiring a reboot. For me that seems to be against everything Chromebooks are supposed to be about.

    No Palm Rejetion?

This device is beautiful, it has beautiful resolution, it is super fast, the pen is cool however, it seems like there is no Palm Rejection. Using Google Keep in tablet mode was almost impossible as different apps continuously opened whenever my palm hit them. Using Squid was a little better. I decided not keep this device since I couldn't use the pen as intended. I must also mention that a couple of times while in tablet mode apps on the left side of the screen wouldn't open. I exchanged this for the Samsung Chromebook Pro which is a beautiful machine that I really loved using. Palm Rejection worked great. All of the specs were great. Just couldn't enable Adobe Flash or pair with certain bluetooth devices, which I didn't know wasn't possible before my purchase, so I had to take that back too. If those weren't issues for me I would have loved to have kept it. It was so beautiful, backlit keyboard had a nice green light, the resolution was the best I've seen 2400×1600 like the Google Pixelbook. * I do miss the Samsung Chromebook Pro.* Honestly, if I wasn't on a budget, I would have kept it but i need to buy a device that has more features.

I purchased this Chrome Book for work but quickly found out that even though I use the Chrome browser for all my work, it doesn't run the Microsoft products I use since the licenses aren't on the Chrome Book. So, if you're just using the unit to surf the web and some light work tasks not requiring specific licenses, it works great and the battery life is amazing compared to my regular laptop. It's definitely a compact light machine you can throw in your bag if you have access to wifi.

I like my chromebook but the main reason for upgrading was for the play store apps. I use microsoft apps for work and this chromebook does not work well. I am able to download outlook, excel, and word, and also open them, but I am not able to use them. As soon as i click something it crashes. I am able to use all google apps well and love this part of the chromebook. For personal use, I use docs, sheets and drive. But microsoft is a must for work so I am hoping this is fixed.

I'd like to give a rating of 3.5, if I have the half point choice. This is my first chromebook ever. I like its color and size, not the weight. I wish it could be a bit lighter. Everything works all right so far except for the touch screen, which is not as sensitive as a smartphone touch screen.

Got this as a gift for a kid to replace tablet. It has a really nice feature set.. Only thing is that the touch screen is not a responsive as a traditional tablet and games are hard to play because of it.

Thanks for the review. Good to know your liking the features on your Chromebook. Here is a link (https://bit.ly/2QA7CaD) that should help the touchscreen become more responsive. Thank you for choosing Samsung. ^Ash Samsung

It works for me, but the touch of the screen is not very good, I like the design and it is practical to watch videos, I would have liked it to have more storage capacity and the audio is very low.

I bought this laptop in order to have a light computer that could perform simple computing needs. The computer starts up really quickly. I had to return it due to connectivity issues with my printer.

Is a very well done Chromebook with a main fail: processor and ram are completely inefficient. Even with downloaded tv shows from Amazon Video is incapable to playing without a pause. Returned.

I like the Chromebook but after three weeks the battery failed and I had to send it back for a replacement. I'm not sure if I had it to do over again, that I would buy the Samsung again.

I got this chromebook with the intent to just use it for my audible books, but the speaker stopped working 2 days after I bought it. Needless to say, we returned it.

Very nice and fair performance. 4gb ram, stutters occasionally but nice over all... I personally prefer something with a little more power /responsiveness
