It does this quite well as alexa can see everything on the network and I can control everything either by voice or through the smart things app.

Highly functional; supports many other products

Google Home does not directly support many home automation products yet, but Samsung SmartThings Hub supports a surprisingly large number of them. In some ways it is an ideal hub in its wide support of other products. However SmartThings app is rather complicated and could use some refinement.
