Bought SmartThings Hub to replace Wink when it went to a subscription service -- works better and faster than Wink ever did. Wink was slow and often went offline for periods of time - lousy support. SmartThings was easy to set up and since it's Samsung, is backed by a major player instead of a failing start-up.

I have been purchasing IOT items when I can, but have not had a way to tie them together until now. This is a must have product so you can make it easier to control everything from one place. Integrate it with google home and you can connect it to items that arent smartthings compatible.

My question is really...why on earth did I put up with Wink for so long? Switched platforms after being held hostage by Wink. Converting was a breeze and the SmartThings devices are amazing to pair or adopt...whatever. Scan a QR code...done. Oh, and it’s stable. I don’t think about it. Stuff simply works.

Making the switch since my Iris system will be shutting down. Not too difficult to set up, and it’s expected that most of my devices will play nice with it. Maybe even my Iris keypad?—hopefully. So far just a couple of devices pairs to it, but they were easy enough. It is a nice size and looks sleek. So far I’m happy with the purchase.

I have had no problems with this hub operating my smart home devices. I do wish that there were more supported devices, which I'm sure will be the case in the near future. The other issue I would like Samsung to solve is the fact that my devices cannot be updated through the hub alone. Example: I use Sengled smart light bulbs with this Samsung hub. The only way to update the firmware in the bulbs is through the Sengled hub, which cannot be linked to the bulbs simultaneously with the Samsung hub. I would have to unlink the bulbs from the Samsung hub and relink them to the Sengled hub and then add them back to the Samsung hub again. Not convenient! I contacted Sengled and they said they are working with Samsung to fix this. Otherwise this hub works great.

I've had various smart home protocols over the last 30 yrs. Finally decided to go with the Samsung Startthings Hub as ZigBee and Zwave are now popular smart home protocols for lighting and switches, and sensors. Many devices can work and be run and scheduled with automation with this hub. I highly recommend this item.

Made the switch from the Wink hub. Very impressed so far. Integrating all of my old and new devices was extremely easy. Smarthings is a bit more robust than Wink. I love the integration with my harmony remote. Love to see more enhancements added.

Better than v2 of the hub...

So, best thing about this is it is wireless!! I hate having so many wires around the router area. It is better than v2 but still seems to have kinks in the software. There are 2 versions of the software out and they don't talk nice to each other. It seemed to have found most of my stuff but then it does not list them in A-Z order or even give the option to sort that way. You have to manually place them in that order which totally stinks when you have a lot of devices. Still does not play nice with a lot of smart plugs either but that is a software issue for most part. Overall, good product but needs improvements in software areas.

Does the limited tasks I have for it well and I expect to add more devices and uses. Good start for developing mesh of automation. Used for second home/vacation rental automation. So far very works well, but it will be a process of accretion as devices are added.

I have older Vivint equipment in my house and we wanted to cancel the service but not lose the functionality. Regardless of what we were told in the store that this would not work we decided to give it a try and it controls my Vivint thermostat and Ring doorbell so great device and functionality without having to replace components!

I picked this up to replace an iris hub. I struggled with one item and it was an iris smart plug. After some tinkering with advice from some forums, I got it to work and the entire system has been flawless since.

I got this hub because Wink started charging a monthly fee. Everything else in my house is Samsung already, so upgrading to Smart Things was a no brainer. No fees, works with all the smart home things I had and because all my TV's are samsung, I can even control everything from any TV.

Smart things is anice hub that is very easy to get started with. Many products work with this hub but I have found that some companies say they are compatible but they are not. I.E. SkyBell's website says they were the first ot be compatible but they are not. I highly recommend SmartThings as your zigbee/zwave hub.

My previous hub with my alarm company was sketchy when trying to operate door lock and light switches. I decided to try the SmartThings hub and it corrected those issues right away. I am very pleased with it and have added more devices which have all worked well for the last three weeks.
