This is a very powerful hub to connect all your smart devices to one hub. The software is easy to use and Smartthings is compatible with most smart devices on the market.

    Good substitute for Wink Hub

Seems to be a good substitute for the original Wink Hub, which I replaced when Wink announced they were moving to a paid subscription model. I did originally have some trouble relinking my dimmers and switches to the Samsung until I found a universal binding mode function in the Android app (the search for device function). Knowing that, I could ignore a search for devices categorized by manufacturer. I was even able to connect to a switch sensor that I was unable to bind to the Wink (a door sensor from Monoprice).

Perfect Replacement for Wink Hub 2!

I have a dozen LED lights that I rarely need to dim or change color. Not a power user and I don't use voice commands to operate the lights. The SmartThings Hub quickly located all the lights, I was able to create groups and add each light to its appropriate group and managing them has been easy and straightforward. I liked the Wink, but to pay $5 per month for what I did with it would have been ridiculous. The response time via the app seems faster with the SmartThings than the Wink Hub 2, so that was a plus too.

It's nice to be able to control multiple smart devices from anywhere. Also label them to different areas of my home/ yard from one app. Smartthings can support a lot of different manufacturers but doesn't support them all which is kinda frustrating when buying certain smart items, like my garage door opener has it's own app that wont link to the smartthings hub. I thought it worked like bluetooth So it's not so smart after all... 4 stars is all I can give

I bought a wink hub years ago to integrate my z-wave devices. It worked. Not that pretty. Now, they want to charge me for something because they ranked their business and can’t own up to it. To be clear, I don’t mind paying for something if I am getting something more. This was not the case. I should have purchased the SmartThings hub. Beautiful integration and interface. I will integrate with HomeBridge for HomeKit compatibility. I am looking forward to the new hotness. Great product Samsung.

I moved away from ST for myself, but bought this for family. It does not seem as versatile as the V2 hub, but is still pretty easy to set up. Only put about 6 devices on it to start, but they paired pretty well. I did have a couple of Z-Wave locks that I tried to move from the V2, but there was an issue with getting them working. They also would not go back to the V2 hub afterwards. I hope this was a fluke.

Had to download two Smartthings apps to incorporate my Schlage Connect locks with everything else. Took some time to research and find this out. If the app is going to be upgraded, then you really shouldn't leave out components that were previously there. Besides that, this has been working good so far.

If you are planning a smart home this is the first thing to buy. I no longer use it as a Hub asi have built my own Home Assistant raspberry pi box but this is still a key device in my smart home as it functions as a bridge now for zigbee and zwave as well as some products that don’t function natively with Home Assistant. If you are debating between this and Home Assistant don’t worry get this one to start it will still have massive value later on down the road.

Switched from Wink after using their hub for 3 years. I never realized a smart hub could be so simple and stable. I thought monthly disconnects, reboots, and failed automatic firmware updates that brick your device were normal for Z-wave hubs. The SmartThings hub just works, period. It adds devices quickly and easily and seems to be very stable (2 months, zero issues). A huge plus is the Samsung developer website that allows you to create your own custom Z-wave profiles and apps.

It started off a little rocky as I thought I could hook it up to my network wirelessly. After trying a few times, I gave up and just plugged it into my router via an ethernet cable. After I did that, everything worked out fine. I do see some of my "things" go offline from time to time. They normally come back at some point on their own and it's usually not a long time. It's definitely not the distance for these things, as some of them are in the same small room. I don't know if it's the hub or the things themselves at this point. That's more of an inconvenience than anything else. I'm using several z-wave devices and it seems the more of them you have around the house, the better the system works. It seems to sync up pretty quick with google home. There are two versions of the smartthings app on IOS. I have both of them installed. It seems the newer one is better for adding devices and the older one is better for naming them and adding them to google home. Voice commands on these devices work well with google too.
