Great interior camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good indoor security camera. 1080p resolution and 5g or 2.4 ghz band usable. Mounting was simple two screws included to mount the back plate and then the camera slides on. I found the cord length to be more than enough to reach my outlet to the point I have most of it zip tied. Pairing the camera to the smart things app was quite simple and done by scanning the QR code on the bottom of the camera when asked. Picture is clear and the app includes lots of options to customize how you want to use the camera. Some of these include range of motion detection, SD, HD or FHD resolution etc. The camera does not move it is stationary. I have not used it to record video I just use to watch areas around my house (namely keeping an eye on pets). The one thing I dislike about the camera is the only way to view the camera is through the mobile app. Their is no desktop version of the app for a PC or Mac. So if you want it to just remotely check on things occassionally its good for that but if you want something to leave up on a monitor 24/7 this isn't it. Overall I'm satisified with the product it does what I expected it to with ease, the only reason I removed a star is because the software is limited to mobile device only. For the tech savvy you can run an android emulator on your pc and have it up on a desktop monitor that way but such an invasive measure to take when they could have just made a simple desktop app.

Good interior security cam
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Samsung SmartCam does everything it should. It’s compact. It’s a WIFI connected smart device which means it can function without a hub. However, unless you intend this to be your only smart device, it really should be paired with the new Samsung Hub 3 which is a winner. If you’re interested in home automation, Samsung’s hub can connect to most brands of smart devices out there. All bulbs and many other smart devices require a hub to function. Setup is easy and requires using the Samsung SmartThings mobile app and account. Click on add a device, choose the type of device, scan the QR code or enter the serial number, choose a location and give it a name. Within seconds the device is activated and registered. The real beauty is in the capabilities within the app. It lets you set up scenes (combinations of devices) and automations (if/then sequences). As an aside, if you’re going to set up a number of smart devices, give some thought to the naming, so you can keep things organized. There is a SmartThings Alexa skill which allows voice control of any device. She can even notify you if motion is detected. This is intended to be an interior security camera. It’s powered from a plug-in adapter with about 8 feet of power lead and can be set on a horizontal surface or wall mounted. Two-way voice communication is also built in. When armed, it reacts to motion and records a minimum of 10 seconds of video which is sent to Samsung’s cloud server. That cloud function allows you to check what it’s seeing at any time and view recorded clips from your mobile device wherever you are. The view is wide angle and is high-resolution color when there’s light. It has infra-red capabilities and will give a black and white image in total darkness. It’s a good little camera with good build quality and video. You do need to be part of the Samsung Cloud eco-system to use it.

Awesome indoor camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is much better than I expected for the price. Most quality cameras these days cost well over $200 so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It was very easy to set up. The video quality is awesome. It has a lot of great features also: motion detection/activity zones (choose what area you want monitored), two way audio, night vision, ability to turn off the status light, adjustable angles to get the perfect spot/coverage. I am mainly using this to monitor our doggie who had been acting strange when we came home lately. With the help of this camera I found out why, and have now corrected the issue, yay =]

Horrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Camera and Samsung and SmartThings, in general, are HORRIBLE. The camera and smart devices don't even setup without hassles when they set up at all. Wouldn't buy again and I'm not likely to by ANY Samsung in the future as I'm 0-2 on the smart devices I've gotten from them to this point.

Good picture quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As the name suggests, this is an indoor only camera. Although it's advertised as a SmartThings camera, it doesn't actually need the SmartThings hub to work. It can connect to your existing 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network directly. However, to set it up and configure it, you do need the SmartThings app. I felt that the picture quality was very decent. It doesn't have provision for local storage on an SD card (unlike many other cameras) so your only option is to see the stream through SmartThings app. One could also possibly take a subscription to review clips uploaded on the cloud. All in all a fair option if you are into SmartThings ecosystem. Indoor security cameras is a crowded field now and unfortunately, I didn't find a niche feature which would make this camera stand out from its peers.
