Easy motion detector to setup

I already had two working motion detectors and one cheap one that did not work. I wanted to get the Smartthings motion detector because it nice and small. It was quick and easy to connect and it works. It detects motion and non motion very fast. I have this one inside my house. I am going to use it to turn on my kitchen light when someone comes down the steps from the bedroom area at night when I have all the lights turned off. I will have it turn the light on at 20% so that it doesn't blink you but you can see. I will probably have it keep the light on for 5 minutes after no motion is detected to give time to do something in the kitchen before it turns off.

This device is good as a open close sensor. It is easy to setup. Sometimes it looses connection with the Hub but that can be fixed by removing and adding the device back to the hub.

Sleek but don't blend in much

We purchased 3 of these for our doors after moving in and removing the old ADT sensors. These sensors don't blend in as much as the ADT sensors as the Samsung ones are bigger, thicker and bulkier. But it does act as a great sensor and we love syncing everything to the Smart Things hub.

The SmartThings platform is incredible and the multipurpose sensor works great. Small, lightweight, and easily mounted. It shows open/closed, but also temperature and vibration.

At the heart of this product is a magnet and a magnet detector. When the magnet is too far away the door, or drawer or window is considered open.
The sensors battery life is pretty good. I have had it running for over a month and still over 90%.
It also has a thermometer and an accelerometer.
The bad:
The device is large enough to be very noticeable on doors, windows and anything else you attach these to.
The accelerometer can be used to detect vibrations and the Smart Things hub has a smart app which attempts to detect if someone is knocking on your door. However the Smart app is stupid and goes off repeatedly on windy days.

Easy to sync up to the SmartThings hub. Easy to attach to any door or window. Battery lasts a long time, and the product itself detects openings and closings perfectly.

I just have the main component attached to my front door in order to detect when somebody knocks on it. It has alerted me a couple of times when a delivery man dropped off packages. It seems to be really sensitive to any type of movement or vibration.

This sensor does several functions. They have a contact sensor good for windows and doors, a tempurature sensor, and a tilt sensor built in. They connected seamlessly to my smatthings hub where I was able to monitor and setup actions they can perform. They are also priced right especially when you compare them to others with similar capability. One is on my garage door and I use the tilt sensor to see whether it's open or closed. I use them on my gun cabinet also so I can be notified if anyone opens it. Good solid sensor from a good manufacturer.

Installation was very simple and looks to fit a number of different door types. Only problem is that they can lose connection with the hubs sometimes.

I am using two of these to monitor my garage Doors. I have them programmed as tilt sensors. I have noticed on 2-3 occasions that they show the doors closed when they are open. Will eventually change out to a hardwired Overhead door contact instead.

I love these sensors. The best use thus far for this sensor was on my garage door. I used to circle back to my house to be sure that my garage door was closed or worry when I left that perhaps I left it open. Now I receive text messages when the garage opens and when it has been closed. So It gives me peace of mind that the door is closed when I wanted it to be. I also use them on other doors in my house that I don't access much it gives me notification when they have been opened/closed very handy addition to any smart home

This is a true Multipurpose Sensor. The following can be monitored:
open/closed - Is a door/drawer/closet open or closed?
vibration - Detect door knocks or footsteps among other things.
orientation - I haven't found a use for orientation yet but nice to have.
angle (tilt) - Is your garage door open or closed?
temperature - When it get's too cold turn on the heat.
I put this on my washing machine so I can be notified when the laundry is done via the "Landry Monitor" SmartApp. Of all the SmartThings sensors this is the most versatile.

I got a few of these and it works well. I use them mostly on windows. I also got some other brand sensors and they work well also, but I would get these on sale since they have some extra functionality, like the vibration sensor

Easy to pair with Smartthings hub. I've got 5 installed on 3 windows and 2 doors. Good battery life, 12 months or more.
