Didn't realize this was just the sensor and I would need different additional products to make it work (Hub). Then returned because I didn't think I was smart enough to handle all of the work involved to set it up.

this sensor works well. Easy to configure. But you have to reset the sensor every once in a while. It just stops working with the app..

I placed one of the devices on all my external door and on all first floor windows. The sensors alert me when the door opens the door closes, when there is motion in the device and the temperature of the device.

Temperature is a bonus. Set up basement lights to turn on when door is opened. Works well for that and battery seems to be lasting.

Working great on my Garage door

Got this for my garage door and it is working great, I mainly needed to detect when I leave the garage door open. Had to install it on the top part of my garage door so it can detect if the sensor is in a vertical (closed) or horizontal (open) position.
Then you can create make it send you a notification if the garage is open or close or if it is open for a number of minutes, you can also trigger a camera when the sensor is open... well there are multiple options on how you can use it

I bought a Smart Things hub with multipurpose sensors. Works as expected. A little finicky getting them placed on slanted surfaces (like door molding), but generally was able to find a placed on the door and/or window.

I use this with the ADT Samsung Hub, although this device is NOT supported by ADT security. This device is only used as a way to notify you on your phone if activity has triggered the device. I use it on the garage door to know when cars enter and leave. Again, this device will work with the ADT Samsung SmartHub, but is NOT capable of contacting ADT in case of emergencies. For that you need the Samsung ADT supported door/window sensors.

We bought the hub kit that come with 2 sensors that we placed on 2 of our doors, but we wanted to "secure the perimeter" and get all of our doors covered. We're still debating if we want to cover all window as well. Right now, at this price, it's not really an option. We hope they come out with a more affordable magnet sensor so we can do the window eventually. We are going to use the motion sensors to help us feel secure for now!

The only issue I have with the product is that if you don't identify each bulb when you first set up the lights you can't go back and name them later (I.e. Living room).

This is a great sensor. I use it for the front door, it let me know when someone left or enter and it is setup with the hallway light to turn on in the night only.

I have a few Multi-sensors throughout the house. The Iris sensors that Lowes sells are narrower and seem to be fit a bit better. The SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor may be more reliable and perhaps have a better temperature sensor and mounting; however, the main piece it a bit bigger and makes it difficult for like mounting it to window edges. For the back door I had to chisel a hole to make it work.

Not my first time using a SmartThings Multipurpose sensor so know that they do work and are pretty reliable in my home setup. Used this on one of our garage doors to trigger the garage lights on/off when we come home after sunset. While SmartThings has its issues from time to time, it's never the hardware that is causing it. From my experience, the hardware are pretty bullet proof.

I had purchased this sensor to connect to the ADT SmartThings Hub for security purposed. Found out that this sensor will not trigger the siren in the ADT keypad, but it does connect to the hub and you can still use it to monitor doors and windows and get alerts to your phone. I do like how it also monitors the temperature of the area it is installed in.
