    Easy to get set up and worked great---for a few hours. Then disconnected from the wi-fi. I reset. Just pressing and holding the reset button didn't do the trick. I unplugged everything and waited. Ended up uninstalling and re-installing on the smart things app. Worked like a charm...for a few hours. I continue to hope, and keep on trying each time it crashes. But am about to give up.....

    The brick is too bulky, i wanted to connect my bookshelf LED lights to connect with SmartThings but the bookshelf stuck out too much due to the size of the plug.

The SmartThings Smart Plug does require a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection and the new SmartThings App, which has an icon of a circle surrounded by five smaller circles, for the setup process.     This outlet worked fine for about the first month. Then, my power went out one day for a little bit and ever since then I haven't been able to get the device reconnected. I went through all the troubleshooting advice, then I submitted a support ticket. Nothing works. Apparently I'm not the only person experiencing this.

    I tried and followed the directions and they would not connect to Alexa which is why I purchased them. It kept requesting an addition to be added to the app or something but I couldn't find an addition to add so it wouldn't work. I returned them and got a different brand which actually does connect to Alexa.

    Review: Samsung - SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug – White The Samsung - SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug – White is a smart plug that you insert into your standard household power outlet, and then plug another device into it. This could be a lamp, small kitchen appliance, or other electrical device, so you can then remotely control or schedule when the device turns on. Sounds simple, right? You integrate the SmartThings Wi-Fi Smart Plug into the Samsung SmartThings hub. You would then use the SmartThings smartphone app to recognize the smart plug, and then use it for turning the appliance on and off. From the standpoint of the functionality of a smart plug, it seemed to do exactly that. Turn on appliance, turn off appliance. And you control the plug from the SmartThings app remotely. So all those things were accomplished easily and quickly, and did not take any special skills. The SmartThings app easily sets up the use of the smart plug. The smart plug integrates with the SmartThings hub, which must be installed on your Wi-Fi network and then manages all SmartThings compatible devices in the location. The potential for the SmartThings smart plug is in automation. You use automations with your SmartThings hub for timings, or events on sensors and monitors (such as cameras) to automatically turn on lights. So although the smart plug is simple and gets the job done, the plug can be integrated into a more robust setup with other products. Also, the price seems very reasonable.

    I would not buy again. It works with the smart things app but I couldn't get it to work with my alexa show. I spent over an hour on the phone with Samsung trying to get it to hook up with alexa with no luck.

    Not surprised a Samsung product has issues

    Where to begin. The instructions in the box don't match how the device works, different instructions display in the SmartThings app. I have a SmartThings hub that works fine with GE branded switches and outlets so I figured a SmartThings branded plug would go smoothly. I followed the instructions in the SmartThings app, connected to the wifi network created by the plug, then returned to the SmartThings app as instructed by the app where nothing more happens. "There was a problem connecting to the device." Tried with an iPhone and an iPad, the plug would not connect to the app with either device.
