Not compatible
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The reviews on the website said that this was compatible with 5G. It is not and its disturbing that someone would try to misrepresent this product!

Handy and useful
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little guy does just what you’d expect plus a little more. It’s a WIFI connected device, so it can operate without a hub. That said, the new Samsung Hub 3 is also worth having if you’re interested in home automation since it can connect to most brands of smart devices out there. A number of devices and essentially all light bulbs need a hub to operate. This is a single outlet, but it’s sized to allow you to plug two into a standard 115v outlet. Setup is easy and requires using the Samsung SmartThings mobile app. Tell it to add a device, choose the type of device, scan the QR code or enter the serial number, choose a location and name. That’s it, and the device is activated and registered. It does the obvious by letting you turn anything up 15A on and off, but there’s an extra. It also shows the power draw and tracks the total power used. There’s also a physical button on the side to cycle on and off the old school way. The app also lets you set up scenes (combinations of devices) and automations (if/then sequences). It’s handy and a basic part of the SmartThings eco-system.

Great for adding smart functionality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Smart plug, you plug in a device you want the ability to turn on and off via your phone into it. For me this is an obscurely placed light that when I'm in bed I don't have to get out of bed to turn off anymore. I found the pairing process to be quite simple inside in the smart things app. Note you must leave the device in the on position and then turn it on and off via the app, if you manually turn it off the app will cease to control it. I was up and running within minutes of adding the plug/device to my smart things hub and able to turn the light on and off with the single push of a button on my app. No issues accessing the device outside my home network either. I have the smart things camera and light bulb I found this the simplest of the three to setup. Overall I have no negatives to this plug other than you need the smart things hub to sync it up but that seems like a fairly obvious thing to not need to point out. Want a simple way to add some smart functionality to your house grab a hub and this and welcome to the future.

Love the Power Meter
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This plug was very easy to setup and get connected. In fact, you don't even need the SmartThings hub--you can connect it directly to your WiFi. I had it on the network and turning it on/off within a few minutes of unboxing it. In the app, I was very pleasantly surprised that it includes a power meter and records energy consumption over time. I've used all kinds of other smart plugs like Kasa, Wemo, Sylvania, etc. but none have ever had this basic power meter. Being the nerd that I am, I really like this feature. I also like that they made the form factor extend horizontally and not vertically. This way you can plug it into either socket in the standard wall outlet and not block the other socket. It seems like a very obvious design choice, but some plugs still on the market aren't like that. In some rare cases, the extension to the side can be a problem if you have a trim board or something similar close to the outlet on one side. But, you can always check the dimensions ahead of time to make sure it'll fit where you want to use it.

Easily the best Wi-Fi plug for the money
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disclaimer - I received this product for my fair and unbiased review. The Samsung smart things Wi-Fi plug is a terrific product in its category. It does everything you want a smart plug to do. You could set a timed routines, you can connect it to Alexa and Google to turn it on and off with your voice, the SmartThings app is easy to use, it is small and unobtrusive, and it is doubles as a very accurate wattmeter (on par with my kill-a-watt). The only negative I have is the power indicator light can be a little on the bright side depending on where you place the plug. Other than that, the many, many brands Samsung is competing against in the space should really watch their backs. Samsung has hit the sweet spot when it comes to price, features, and performance. I can’t recommend this plug enough.

Great at What it is Designed For
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a pretty simple piece of tech and works seamlessly with my Smartthings Hub which is connected to my Google Home. I use this plug with a light in my living room. I tell Google to turn on my lamp and it turns on/off every time.

Nice!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The packaging didn't say that but this WiFi switch does monitor the realtime energy draw of an electrical device connected to it. It also monitors the overall energy consumption in Watt Hour so far. All these things could be visualized using the SmartThings app. As the packaging very clearly says, it doesn't need the hub to operate. It's an independent device which hooks up to your WiFi to work. BTW, it just supports 2.4GHz band. The form factor is sweet and it doens't block the other socket at all. Setting it up through the SmartThings app was very straightforward and took less than 5 mins. All in all a good device if you are in the market for a Smart Plug.

Simple and reliable
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup was very straightforward and simple. Added this to the smart things app on my iPhone and I was all set. Plugged one of my lamps to the plug and I was able to control the lamp with my phone which is cool. The green light in the plug indicates if the plug is on or off. Like I mentioned in my review for smart things camera, the only part that is slightly confusing is the smart things app. The app could be more user friendly. I would definitely recommend this plug to my friends.

Smart and easy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although most of my outlets are hard-wired, this is a nice flexible addition to control a light or small appliance. It is a WiFi device so there is no need for a hub to operate it. Using your SmartThings app, scan the bar code on the plug, and the app does the rest. In just a minute or so you are ready to go. It's about the simplest automation you could add. Works great and even lets you monitor your energy consumption via the app.

Super responsive
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like most Samsung smart things, this outlet comes with a QR code so just use the app, scan the code, and the install is essentially automatic. It is very responsive and it's cool that you can see the energy used from the outlet. Set timers, do voice control with your favorite voice commanded device, and enjoy! It's not too busy either so that's a plus as well.

Quick responding Wi-Fi outlet
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After following the simple pairing process, this outlet is very quick to respond to requests from the SmartThings app. It's about as thin as the outlet it needs to plug into, which means it shouldn't interfere if something needs to be plugged in next to it. It only uses 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, so you'll want to bear that in mind if you have a newer access point.

Works like a charm
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use it for my lamp and it works great! Having Google assistant makes it even more convenient because i can use my voice instead of opening the app. Smart moves all around.
