    I needed a hard drive that was adaptable both for mac and pc as I would be going back and forth between the two and this hard drive was able to accommodate both.

    Purchased this as a gift for my son. Worked well for about three weeks before it died. Unfortunately, this was after the return period. Not sure I would recommend it for important data.

    Don't purchase if you you are running windows and don't know how to format a drive. When you plug it in, you will not see anything. Not a word on this product indicates that it has to be formatted.
