Got this remote for my game room. Needed to control TV, Amazon Firestick, Sonos Connect: AMP Thermostat and 6 lights(grouped). Setup was quite simple as you set up each device individually. And test as you go. This setup is done via your smartphone using the app. It was really easy to do and I didn't have any issues with the TV/Firestick/Sonos or Spotify services. I did although find out that there are many services that are not available. I was not able to set up my Honeywell Thermostat or my lights. As such there was a bit of disappointment there. The build of the remote is nice and fits nicely in your hand. It has a glass front and a grippy rubber back. The charging stand is weighted and utilizing a USB-C connection for charging. Another disappointment was the battery life. it averages about 2-3 days with minimal use. Ovarall at bit disappointed with this device compared to the pricing. For now will stick with my Harmony. I understand eventually it will control all my device but this one is still in progress.

Thank you for the feedback, we always appreciate hearing back from customers on areas that we can improve upon. Smart Remote does utilise a touchscreen thus consuming more battery than normal however we are aware of the need to make sure the battery length is reasonable so we are constantly working on ways to improve and extend the battery life.

We hope you do stick with Smart Remote as we have many more Integrations and Features to come. Sevenhugs

With a remote like this, being able to control and do so much, my mind immediately goes to a product that is bulky. Not this guy! This remote is super tiny when you compare it similar universal remotes on the market. To give you a frame of reference, it is approximately the same size of an Apple TV remote. I've been using the Apple TV remote for several years so the Sevenhugs remote wasn't much of a shock for me as it has been for others. I personally like the smaller form factor. This is touted as a universal remote that will pair with more than 650k devices. In other words, its for everything in your home. I currently have 5 connected devices - including an Apple TV, Nest Thermostat, Philips Hue, Sonos speakers and Spotify. Setup is pretty simple. Download the app from either Apple's App Store or the Google Play Store on Android devices and follow the prompts. Incredibly easy and super simple. Universal remote functionality is awesome. It gives you full control to completely adapt the technology to your own personal preferences - one touch access. Its a great concept but certainly not perfect and needs some improvement considering the price tag (currently on sale at BestBuy.com). I suppose that is where the hardware but integrated software comes into play with the ability the push new experiences and improvements. A lot like a smart phone in a lot of ways - evolving with updates and improving over time. That way you're not stuck with the same product you bought on day one. Technology is moving at such a rapid pace that its only fitting that that would be the case. Its a good product. Definitely something that's needed and would be very much utilized.

I have a love hate relationship with this remote. It can be really good at times but can also be really bad. Setup was pretty simple connecting to your wifi network and then just adding your devices. I have it setup with my Nvidia Shield TV, it will lose connection to the Shield constantly. It connects again shortly after. It will also not register presses for selecting a profile on Hulu and will not recognize a screen press to exit the app. I also have it connected to my Hue smart bulbs, Nest thermostat and Sonos speaker. Hue control works fine along with the Nest thermostat with very basic Nest control. The remote is about the size of the Apple TV remote but fatter, it also uses the swiping gesture similar to the Apple TV remote. Battery life is not that great but there is a usb style charging stand to conveniently keep the battery topped off.

The ergonomics on this remote are very good. The size is familiar. It’s the same width as most of my other remotes, but not as long. Holding it my thumb can comfortably reach any spot on the touch screen. The screen has a haptic feedback that is you feel vibrate or buzz as you touch the buttons. The remote stand is a mix. Sliding the remote on to the USB Connection protruding from the base displays the date, time, and battery level for several seconds. A touch of the screen will also display this info. I like that the remote sits vertically on a charging base so it's easy to grab. This could save some more space, but the base is a bit large. I can see an accidental swipe of the hand hitting the remote and breaking the USB-C connection, or worse the remote. I think a charging cradle that provides more protection is warranted on such a premium remote. Adding my devices was easy as it's done using an Android or iOS app. I used my Chromebook and while the app is sized for a phone/tablet, the keyboard and mouse worked well to navigate the app and add the following devices I tested with: • LG OLED65C9 TV • RCN branded TiVo 6 • Sony UBP-X800M2 4K player • Sony HT-S350 Sound Bar • Philips Hue bridge with several bulbs • A WeMo wall switch for an outside light • Fire TV • Roku Ultra • Apple TV 4K All devices were found and easily added except for the Sony HT-S350 Sound bar, which was not in the device database. The setup had me press a button to discover the remote language the device uses. Most makers only have a few remote ‘languages’ that work across all their various models of each device. The remote worked with a ‘Sony OSM’. This gave me the basic functions, but not all the remote features I used. Since this is a learning remote, I was able to create buttons and press buttons on my Sony remote to ‘teach’ the Seven Hugs remote the signal that each button sends. It takes some extra time, but it was easy to do. I had to learn a few buttons more than once or twice for them to register, but otherwise it worked well. The one downside or upside depending on your view is that the remote layout does not match the original remote layout. Each device follows the same layout. For remotes have many buttons, devices will have multiple pages you need to swipe through. Remotes are typically 2-5 pages. My LG TV remote can be moved through the air like a laser pointer to move a mouse icon on the screen. While this remote does not work in that way, after you press the Menu or Guide button, you can use a “track pad’ like area on the screen to move between on screen options and tap to click similar to the remote. It works very well. You can create “Home scenes” to automate a procedure. I made a “Movie” scene to set the Hue lights color and dim them, turn on the TV, sound bar, and 4K disk player so all I need to do is insert the disc and press play. Make a scene for any combination. I’ve now moved on to making a new custom TV device layout with the remote functions I use most on just one or two pages. For example, my new custom ‘device’ powers everything on/off, controls my sound bar volume instead of the TV speakers and changes channels on the Cable company TiVo box instead of the TV. That’s a powerful feature. While this device can control my Phillips Hue bulbs through the Hue Bridge, I found the super thin bars for color bars and brightness are super touchy and hard to get just right. It looks cool, but I would prefer a larger color palette on the screen to use and separate brightness control as on the Hue app. Other than using this in conjunction with a scene, this will not replace my hue app. If you are looking to do control home automation with this remote, you should visit the website and verify that your devices are supported. I found support for my home automation was hit or miss For example, I searched the website for my Ecobee 3 thermostat and it is not supported at this time. I noticed that the Nest thermostat use to work, but is no longer supportable due to changes Nest has made that closed off third party support. No other thermostats were listed as supported. But you can vote for your devices to be added. This is a customer feedback mechanism we can use to let Sevenhugs know what devices are most popular so they know where to focus attention. As time goes on I expect support here will improve. Hopefully the controls for the hue bulbs on the remote will also improve. Unfortunately there is no voice control available as on most of my remotes (LG TV, RCN TiVo, Fire TV, and Apple TV). The Feature list on the Sevenhugs website lists “Microphone & speaker ready”, but I saw no support for these on my remote. Hopefully this will make it into a future update. Overall I like the remote allot. It’s not perfect, but close. I’d give it 4½ stars if I could. Some controls could be better (Hue color selection). More support for home automation needs to be added. I was surprised my Sony sound bar was not in the device library as it’s a major brand and a few months old. But those are all software changes that should be totally doable. I am hopeful these will improve and new features added. You can add your devices and go on to use his remote as a simple remote replacement to take the place of several remotes. Whether you like the default button layout and not having all your device controls on one screen as you have a larger remote is a matter of what you are used to. It’s really just a mindset change. I see it as I do not have to slide the remote in hand and stretch my thumb to reach other buttons. After using a few weeks, I appreciate what Sevenhugs did here and I’ve accepted it. If you do nothing else, I think this is worth it to reduce the remote clutter and numerous batteries. And if you are willing to tinker and put in some time to tweak it, there is a lot of power there to create a truly unique remote customized to how you use all your devices functions and how you use them. A remote that you’re other family members can use to control the TV, sound bar and Cable box without having to move between numerous remotes. And you can still keep those seldom used button on back pages for the occasional time when they are needed. I feel that’s the real magic here.

Seven Hugs Remote review I was excited for this product. I loved the concept of having one device to control my smart home devices along with my home theater stuff. In theory, its awesome, and the possibilities are expansive. But theory and reality rarely align. The packaging is minimalistic which is nice, less clutter to dispose of. What I thought was neat, was the charge base it came with, using USB-C to charge. Set up: That’s where I hit problems. Initially, I needed it plugged into the base, and paired with my phone, which was easy. The firmware update failed twice, and it finally resolved itself on the third try. Not sure how. So, programming the remote, everything is done through an app on your phone, which I thought sort of defeated the purpose of a universal remote. I can’t compare to other remotes, as this is my first one, but the interface is simple to use and finding IR codes for TV’s and Blu-Ray players is easy enough. I got my TV, Blu-ray (both Samsung), sound bar (Sonos), and Apple TV paired. I haven’t had a chance to do Hue yet, as I just moved and am still setting everything up. Switching between devices is fairly simple, swipe left or right on the upper part of the screen or tap the icon to turn a device off. There is scene integration, however I haven’t got that far in testing and playing around with the device, but it seems like you are able to orchestrate lights and TV/DVD player to work together to set the mood. Three of my biggest issues with the remote: If you power it off on the remote, the only way to turn it back on is to stick it on the dock. If that was the case, a physical button should be added. My second issue is the screen. While it’s tiny, and they make it work, the screen burn is real. I had it set on my apple TV for about five minutes, and there was ghosted images of buttons on there which was slightly annoying. The last one is seamless integration. It works with each device, however if I have to adjust volume, I have to switch to the Sonos remote screen to control it, and there’s notable lag time, or it doesn’t update and sync with Sonos. Overall, the concept is awesome, and the size of the device is right, but the screen type is odd, and some of the operations are a bit funky, and I can certainly see a version two of this product coming out, or some patches can help boost it. I could recommend this to a friend if they are willing to overlook things.

When I went online for more information on device compatibility, I found a lot of comparisons to other devices, including a Logitech device. This one doesn't fall short from its competitors, although I didn't have the opportunity to compare them side by side. I will also say this is a device that lives up to most of what it is meant to do, including offering an advanced and more than capable Smart Remote for a wide range of users. It does require the use of the app, but so many devices either require this, or have limited functionality without the app. Most devices above a certain price point assume that the consumer has a smart phone capable of doing a lot more than calls and social media. We’ve become people who do a lot with our indispensable phones, so having to use an app to set up this remote was not a surprise. I think that having a companion app aids in setting up the device, without a lot of reading; many people want the shorter, easier way to get started, and the app does so much of the work for you. The Sevenhugs app takes you through the setup, which makes it very easy to get started. It can control so many devices, it almost eliminates the need for a bunch of remotes. You certainly won’t need separate remotes for each item. When unboxed, the remote should be charged up using the included charging base and cable. Then it prompted to update software before using, not unexpected for a new device. From there, the app will get you started. It is most useful for those people with a lot of ‘smart’ devices, such as smart plugs and lights, but can also work with older infrared devices. I was a little surprised that it connected to my TV so easily, as it’s an older model which has given me trouble with universal remotes and other peripherals in the past; it immediately connected and worked with the TV—there’s one remote I’ll be happy to replace with my new smart remote! It took a little longer to connect with my bluray player, and I missed when it did work, and had to go back (an issue with my player responding slowly, and not the remote). I wasn’t really expecting it to work for both of these, and was pleasantly surprised that it did. I mostly got it to work with the smart plugs I have, and hadn’t really been using to their full capability. This remote allows for greater control with those, and the items plugged into them. I don’t know if Spotify Premium is a requirement; it seems like it was, since it was one of the first things that the app wanted to set up. It does work for that service, which means I can play the music with a remote, something I wasn't able to do before the remote. I had a little trouble with getting used to the remote, and it is an adjustment to using traditional remotes. I gave it 4 stars for this reason. It’s such a cool little gadget that I’m having a lot of fun with, but I will not be getting rid of all my remotes. My Roku and bluray remotes are still going to get some use, as I can push some of the buttons by touch alone, and I like that option. Whether watching with the light off, or just while multitasking, the Sevenhugs remote doesn’t allow for touch alone, or that quick of a response. I have to focus on the remote, to make sure I swipe the right way, or I'm directing the right device (since I'm usually using multiple at the same time) and sometimes that just isn’t going to work for me. I think some other people will feel the same way, especially since people do get used to doing certain things without looking at their hands, or the remote/controller they’re holding. I don’t know what to suggest to improve that, since I’m not sure that is a feature that can be added. I’m not visually impaired, but it seems like this wouldn’t work for anyone who can’t see the remote clearly, or who does not want to use an app on their phone. I still would recommend this device for most users. It’s a really nice remote, and the prices on these have reduced with some recent models, making them more affordable, especially when you consider how much they are capable of doing.

After spending a few days with this remote, I've come to both love and hate it, and the things I hate are things that can mostly be fixed with future software updates. The good: This remote covers everything I could reasonably expect a universal remote to cover and more. When you find your device, the app downloads the profile from the web and loads it to your remote. You can customize how the layouts of your remote are displayed on the remote as well as customize how many screens per device and the order of the screens. The remote feels good in the hand and the hap-tic feedback is a nice touch. The Android app was straight forward to use and works well for the purpose. The bad: The remote stand does not have a support for the remote besides the USB-C connector. I don't foresee this being good for the remote over the long run and I don't look forward to taking the remote apart to re-flow cracked solder joints Adding media centers does not always work. I had issues getting it to pick up my KODI setup running on a raspberry pi 3 b+ . In other KODI remotes, you can specify the IP address and other settings. In this software, it either finds it on the network or it doesn't. There is no desktop app. It's minor, but I would have liked to see at least a basic desktop app for this as all the communication with the remote happens over an internet connection. It's small if you have big hands. I haven't had issues hitting the wrong button yet, but I could see it being an issue if I wasn't paying close attention. You also can't resize the buttons in the app, just reposition them. That's a big feature add for the future if you want a screen that's just volume up/down and play controls. You can't program screens for cross device that I've found. You can setup scenes of settings, but if I want volume on my receiver and play on a specific media device, that doesn't seem to be possible yet.

This device I am a bit on the fence due to the fact I am a Logitech Harmony guy from the start. I have been a Logitech remote customer for at least 10 years and love the ease of the one single universal remote. This device is the same concept, however it is a fancier, more futuristic version of a smart remote and is a screen only, no physical buttons which sounds like it is the way to go, however I still want some sort of buttons on my remote. The device is easy to set up, syncs with latest devices, even lights etc, no RF behind cabinet tech yet, may come but it is a cool looking device, much like an iPhone for your TV. The product design is cool, but I still am not sold on this idea of the design and it just did not feel ready for prime time yet. However, I would not give up on this idea until all kinks are worked out, it may be a great device in the future. For now Ill stick with my Harmony Elite.

So i found myself really curious about this product and couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. I have a fairly automated apartment - Hue, Sonos, and Nest as well as Wifi capable TVs. I’m often having to bark orders at Alexa and sometimes that takes 2-3 tries. I was looking for an all in one remote with a quick learning curve and great functionality. I found half of that for sure, but the functionality definitely still leaves me wanting a bit more. One major example would be with Sonos. I have 5 speakers around the house and the remote handles the basics pretty well. Unfortunately where it misses is being able to dig into the various sources. As far as i can tell, it can only play the playlists you have in your Sonos app, and that means setting stuff up in Sonos and then coming back to the remote to control. I thought maybe i had a way around when i configured the Spotify service. Instead, it only sees the Amazon spots around the house - not the sonos speakers where i would actually want to hear the music. For my hue lights it added every single bulb for individual control. This probably can be fixed by building groups but currently it means swiping a lot to get past the lights and over to other objects. For my TV which is a roku TV I’m not quite seeing the buttons i need to fully control the device. I know there’s functionality to customize what i see so I’m hoping this can be resolved with some further tinkering. Ultimately i think this product has a lot of potential, but for my needs and wants i might have to let the software catch up to me.

I would recommend this to a friend
