Customers are impressed with the Smart Remote X's ease of use, elegant design, and Bluetooth capabilities, finding setup straightforward and the point mode innovative. However, some users cite concerns regarding battery life, compatibility issues with certain devices, and the remote's size and high price point. The touchscreen, while praised by some for its responsiveness, is criticized by others for its lack of physical buttons and small screen size. Overall, the Smart Remote X receives positive feedback for its user-friendly features but also faces criticism regarding several aspects of its functionality and cost.

This was a fairly decent remote, as it uses your phone to set up devices and then syncs with the remote. On the surface its ok, but the small screen allows for limited info on screen at once, and is not always intuitive of how you need to interact with it to do what you want.

The setup and changing/updating this product is very easy and user friendly. The only issue I have with it is that the device is small and there are no physical buttons. I like the feel of buttons but I can get over that, the problem is that the device is so small, I constantly hit the wrong button on the remote when using it.

Purchased this after I lost the remote to the tv and figured it would help combine all remotes into one easily usable package. I do like being able to customize the button layout and it was very easy to set up. The problem comes when the device crashes and has to reboot several times before you can use it again. After this first occurred, it became more frequent with each use of the remote. I am returning this device tomorrow for the reasons stated above and would not recommend this to others. Only gave two stars because when it works it’s not all bad but it just doesn’t work enough.

Remote works as required, but you have to fight it.. Remote needs to be heavier, too flimsy, functions work but the delay is horrible. Lost all settings twice, once because battery went dead, other time for no apparent reason. Good news is they are making nightly updates to remote, which leads me to believe this is still in beta. I returned mine since it had so many issues, too Many to list some small and some large.. Example you have a very large base, but no way to use it to find the remote?, base has to be in line of site for remote to work. My setup was tv, sonos speakers (4) hue light bulbs in 3 line of site areas. When V2 hits the market I'll relook this remote. Because the concept is beautiful..

We’re sorry to hear that you experienced some issues with Smart Remote, but thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re committed to making regular updates and improvements to the product to support the needs of our customers.
In response to some of the issues you mentioned, I’m happy to report that we recently improved the responsiveness of the remote when controlling Wi-Fi and infrared devices and we also fixed a bug that was causing a small group of users to lose their configurations. We are working to launch the Remote Finder feature you mentioned, but it will be added in the near future.
One more important clarification. The Charging Base does not need to be in line of sight with Smart Remote for the remote to work. It only needs to be in line of sight with the three Room Sensors when you want to control things in Point Mode.
We look forward to having you as a customer again in the near future.

Truly love the ability to create custom buttons using IR learning from my other remotes. Was able to easily learn all my devices so I was able to put all 8 of the other remotes away. I can't wait to see what new features the team will be adding. Its kind of like the Tesla of remotes - new software update and... BAM cool new features!!

Recognized 15 of 17 devices. 2 it didn’t recognize are older model Laserdisc players. Love ability to learn and program additional buttons and to reconfigure button layout on screens. Biggest problem is small size and total lack of any tactile response. Have to always look at screen to make sure you are pushing correct virtual buttons

Got this & the Smart Remote U a few months back. Both work well, the setup on both was really easy with the nod going to the X & the auto-sensing feature. Works well with my Samsung TV, Tivo Bolt, Denon Receiver, Sonos Beam & AppleTV 4 (good riddance).
The keyboard is awesome & infinite amounts better than the terrible Tivo Bolt remote. Searching YouTube/Netflix/Hulu is actually easy now! The screen is good size & the swipe between devices works well. The scene function is nice & works well. It's worth mentioning that our toddler loves that we were able to change the background pic to McQueen from Cars). The battery life seems to be fine, we store the remote in the doc so we know where it is (although it does have a find remote feature).
As random as it is, I'm most excited that it controls my AppleTv . I HATE AppleTV remotes. The old silver ones worked well but got lost every 17 seconds. The new, black "Siri" remotes are terrible. I sold both of our Apple TV remotes to recoup some of the cost of the SevenHugs.
Battery life isn't great but since the terrible Apple TV remotes got us in the habit of leaving them in the same place so we don't lose them, I just put the charger for this there.
Really excited though. Works well with all my stuff & didn't break the bank. My wife even likes it, which I can't say is the case with most of my electronics purchases.

I got the U remote first which is a good remote but I later in returned it for the X remote cause I wanted the more functionality in the future. This remote is great but the battery life could be a lot better. Have to charge it maybe 2 or 3 times a day if in heavy use. But over all a good remote if you want to control multiple devices just by moving to one of the sensors.

Great remote, battery life is not the best. Must use charger every night and I don’t really care for the circle transmitters you stick on the wall to activate the point option.
I haven’t had to much luck with the “find your remote feature”, hopefully they will do a software update for that.
But I really like the remote, ordered another one for upstairs!

I like the idea of this remote , but a few things I didn’t like is that the sensor are big and noticeable if you put them up in your walls, and second thing not all things were compatible with this remote, like my wemo light switches that I have. I did use it for a week , but I returned it . I would buy it again if they made it compatible with wemo products , it is a good remote just wish they made it compatible with all smart things

Thanks for the feedback Joseph, one little thing about the room sensors are that it is not at all obligatory to use them or place them on your walls if you do not wish to, the room sensors are strictly for the purpose of using the Point Mode feature, you can still enjoy full access to all other aspects of Smart Remote without the use of the room sensors.
We are actually compatible with Wemo Smart plugs however not just yet compatible with Wemo switches and we are always rolling out new integrations as we are aware of the demand to cater to various devices that our customers use, currently we are compatible with over 650,000 devices and increasing every day. I do hope that you will reconsider and give Smart Remote another chance in the future !

I bought this as Christmas gift for a friend of mine who recently installed some Hue lights and a Nest. I helped set it up, which went smoother than I was expecting. The Wi-Fi network scan instantly found everything and Apple TV. Creating scenes was simple and straightforward. She loves that she can turn off all the lights and turn off her Nest thermostat with a single button when she wants to leave her condo. The trackpad control for Apple TV works really well. She seems really happy with it and it’s definitely made controlling everything a lot easier.

Note* I did not test the point and click feature as I was annoyed away before that got installed.
This device seems to have a good team working behind it. There is a load of prebuilt in IR settings to connect to your devices and works as you'd expect. The screens are customizable and you can have multiple per device to make it easy to use to your preference.
There were two huge flaws that turned me away though.
1. It would not pair an IR signal for devices that weren't pre-installed (you hold the device in front of this and hold the button to set it to memory, this feature never worked for me even after hours and different devices tried on)
2. The screen touch functionality was par at best, the light bleed on a screen made in 2008 for $300 was me wanting more. I often found myself clicking the screen for it to do something and it would not work, so I would push multiple times till it did. This got very annoying since sometimes it would then double click and activate the button twice. If this had a smooth responsive screen I would have kept it, but in fact, this was returned quickly and it's the first return for me in 10 years.

This is quite a remote! The screen is a giant leap forward in all-in-one remote technology, and exactly where we should be in regards to the technology it's meant to control. It's easy to set up and to add devices, and I love that I can edit the screen functions for each device. For instance, I can create a button on the screen that performs the function I have on my receiver remote. I have 5 or 6 of my most used functions on my receiver, all on one screen.
My only complaint is that while you can control color on the Phillips Hue portion of this remote, it doesn't give you quite the color control the Phillips Hue app has. I think it can be done, since this remote is a screen, maybe with a future software update.

I purchased this to control my TV, sound bar, Fire Cube, and smart home items. It did fine for the media devices but I found that it really can't control the majority of my smart home devices. No support for ecobee thermostats yet and not able to integrate with SmartThings. The point feature is a neat party trick but honestly I found it kind of annoying for daily use and not accurate enough for my liking, plus the sensors on the wall are kind of ugly and not very flexible as to where they can be placed. Lastly, the full touch screen makes it less comfortable to control your TV, as you pretty much have to be looking right at the remote to see what buttons you are pressing. The Hue controls also felt clumsy and it was difficult to set the desired lighting settings. I ended up exchanging for a Logitech Harmony remote instead, which has its own shortcomings but can at least control most of my smart home items.

Thank you for your feedback, we are always pleased to receive this kind of feedback as it helps us to further improve on our Smart Remote.
At the moment we only support control for Nest thermostats from Nest however we are constantly working round the clock to integrate support for newer devices on a priority basis so devices such as the ones you mentioned will undoubtedly see integration very soon so please stay tuned !.
We chose to go for a Smartphone look and feel when designing our Smart Remote as a diversion from the normal larger sized button remotes, in the future we will have various Smart remotes coming in different shapes and sizes.

Easy to use and connect other devices. The manufacture stated that there is a button to recall the remote if miss placed. This option "DOES NOT WORK". I even contacted the company who states that it was a miss print on the old labeling and that the software the remote has doesn't offer that capability yet but are working on how to incorporate that function. It's bee almost 1 year since I purchased the product and no new updates have fixed that particular problem.

Very satisfied with this remote. I have tried other smart remotes with no real success. The seven hugs remote integrates well with my smart devices and the set up was seamless. User friendly as well, as my wife and daughter can pick it up and use it freely. I have not really used the point mode feature as of yet, but plan to.
Overall, very good product.
