I was choosing between Shark and Dyson. I wanted have a really good vacuum. I’ve heard really good things about Shark vacuum from many people. I am really happy about this one, because the suction is powerful and all the functions are really useful.

I have a dog and this Vacuum gets EVERYTHING! We have gone through several different vacuums but I have a feeling this will be my final one! Little heavier but the pull apart system for stairs is great and it feels like it has a self propel system.

This is a great replace for the Oreck Vacuum Cleaner we were using. You buy at one Oreck Retail outlet but before your warranty expires, they are close. This is our second experience with Oreck Retail outlets.

Great vacuum from a solid company. I always have a hard time between Shark and Dyson, the quality and longevity is very similar. We give ours to our kids when the get a bit worn, plus I love getting new tech.

I’ve always found the Shark products to be a mixed bag, some good and some bad. In many cases it is reflective of the price range of the Shark product, you get what you pay for. The APEX DuoClean AX951 Bagless Upright is at the upper end of the Shark price range and it does not dissapoint. I currenty own a high end Sebo canister product that is 3 times the price of the Shark AX951 and I use it as the baseline in comparing vacuums. Putting aside everything but the cleaning power of the power brush, the Shark performs the same if not better than the Sebo and other units on the market . I use the Sebo once a week and use a Neato every day. I used the Shark after using my other vacuums and the amount of dirt that was in the Shark canister after vacuuming my rug was surprising. Sharks Duo clean system truly works . It performs as good if not better than every high end vacuum I have had . Basically there is two power heads that deep clean the carpet and pick everything up. There are some pitfalls with the unit but in terms of sheer cleaning power on rugs, there are probably none better regardless of price range. Pros Accessories - Shark really put some thought in the accessory tools. The anti-allergen dust brush gets into places I could not reach with my other vacuums. It is long , flat and can be adjusted to different angles. Of similar design is the MultiFlex tool for getting under appliances. It is over 3 feet long and designed to fit under stoves and other appliances. What a great idea, it was an immediate success. Two great ideas by Shark, I am surprised other manufacturers have not copied it already. Lights, lights lights – There are two LED lights in the power brush head and lights in the handle when using accessory cleaning. Very nice touch and handy. Sound – this is always a subjective item but the sound was much better than I thought. Nothing is as quiet as a high end unit but the Shark AX951 was surprisingly good. Better than the competitors in this price range. Manuverability Upright mode – The unit takes some getting used to and feels unbalanced at first. After using it for while, you understand the way the unit swivels and how the weight is centered and everything manuvers quiet well. Cansiter / Powerhead separation – you remove the canister from the power head but still use the powerhead , main wand and handle. This enables you to get the brush head under tight spaces. Another great design idea, it really worked well to get under TV’s stands and similar. Bagless – the unit does not require bags and the design is very easy to empty the canister Dust and dirt removal – as stated above, the AX951 did a great job for cleaning carpet. In fact, an amazing job. The two brush head system is a home run. One of the problem of less expensive vaccuums is they can recirculate the dust after it has been vacuumed into the unit. Not the AX951, Shark’s filtration system works very well. Cons Assembly – this is a slight criticism . When you spend north of $400, it would be nice if the unit came fully assembled or mostly assembled. It was not hard to put together but it gave the appearance of a cheaper unit because all the parts were separate. I understand some of the need to fit it in the box but there is a better way. The hose is not long enough and too tighly coiled. It makes it difficult to reach things when the removing the handle for accessory cleaning. Also, it tends to pull the unit and can knock it over ( particulary if you have remvoed the canister. Too much plastic. Plastic is not bad thing, there is a place for it. However there is virtually no metal on this unit and I question how well it will hold up. That is pure conjecture but I would like to see some higher quality components this machine. Manuverability canister carry mode – uggh, this I did not like. You can detached the canister from the main power wand and brush and carry the canister while using the handle and accessories. This is fine if you use one hand to carry the canister and one to clean. If you set the canister down, it will fall over everytime you pull on the hose. There is just not enough weight to the canister the the hose is too tighly wound. Some of the cons mentioned above are not oversights by Shark. It is the necessity of the design to incorporate new and better features into an upright vacuum. The AX951 is fanstastic in many respects and only has a few short comings. If Shark is reading this, they should take note and make a high end unit. Something even quieter, something made with more metal and maybe a bit more power. People will pay more for higher end features. Regardless, I completely recommend the APEX DuoClean AX951. This is the best Shark product I have ever tried and give it 4 out of 5 stars. It does lose a point for the canister carry mode and a lot of plastic but otherwise, I really think Shark did a great job on this vacuum. If you are looking for a vacuum to clean carpet better than anyone else, look no further.

Vacuums have been hit or miss for us. Sometimes we get a decent one other times we dont, and we dont realize it until we get a good one. This Shark APEX DuoClean AX951 is amazing! This is the first Shark Vacuum we have ever had the chance to own and I am very impressed. Out of the box it is very easy to assemble with only the main few pieces. The accessories include... - Pet/Upholstery Tool - Under Appliance Wand - Crevice Tool w/ Brush (brush can be retracted) - Dusting Brush I do wish it came with the optional motorized tool. As for the function of this vacuum it is just crazy. It is very quiet for its size. The sound it does make it of lower tone so no high pitched noises and I can hardly hear it running from one end of my house to the other (About 3 walls separating it from me). The sucking power is beyond anything we have ever used. We did a couple test strips in our living room and after 4 20 foot long strips we had a ton of pet hair and dirt we never knew was there. Shows the other vacumm we used missed 75% of the stuff in our carpet. The vacuum has three modes. - Rug/Thick Carpet - Carpet - Hard Floor All the modes work well although as with any vacuum it is a bit hard to do movable rugs as it'll get caught on the edges fairly easily. This vacuum pulls along very well but I can see how it may be a little harder for some to use quickly (Heavyish/pulls forward well). The filter and bag less dirt canister work very well and its really easy to clean. The LED lights on the front are bright for cleaning dark areas. Overall I am VERY satisfied with the design and performance! I would highly recommend this to anyone who needs a quieter with great performance!

    Best I’ve Ever Used

This is without question, the best vacuum I’ve ever used. First off, it is unbelievably versatile, you can go from upright, to dusting shelves, then right under furniture. The design is ingenious, it has a removable dust tank which allows you to clean so many different areas. I used it first off as an upright to vacuum the carpets in my living room. Then I removed the tank and wand with the push of a button and was vacuuming chairs, window sills, and my entertainment center. I then put the tank and wand back together and was vacuuming under chairs and tables. The vacuum comes with a long attachment to clean under appliances, a crevice tool, and a small brush, the end of the brush comes to clean upholstery. As for power, this has it, so much so that it sucked up an area rug the first time I went over it. There are 3 settings for low carpets, shag and hard floors. All I work fantastic and will pick up anything in its path. The vacuum head has a roller brush and a soft roller with what feels like microfiber cloth, to help pick the debris on the floor. Lastly it has triple filter action with a hepa filter to keep the particles out of the air. It seems to work just fine. Bottom line, if you have carpets, steps, upholstered furniture, and hard floors this vacuum can do it all. It has my highest recommendation.

I'll start by saying that the design was quite impressive. This acts like three vacuums in one. It serves as a full upright vacuum, but it breaks down as a canister and a canister with nice long wand for reaching things. I own several other brands of vacuum cleaners and it is a great design concept. The attachments fall off easily while using the machine, but that's about the only downfall. This cleans as well as any of them and better than most. The attachments fit on the body of the machine and they are very handy. I vacuumed our living room and it was very quiet. I almost wondered if it was picking up deep debris because it floated nicely across the floor. When I emptied the dust container, it was full. It picked up a ton of dirt, pet hair and sand out of our carpet. The lights look like the LED lights on the front of a sports car. They lit the way well. Finally, it fits under things that larger vacuums cannot reach. It also swivels nicely to make sharp turns without moving the entire machine. I like that I can vacuum my rooms and then use the same vacuum to hit the steps, walls, ceilings and area rugs. The three settings located right on the handle make this easy to use. Over all, it's an impressive machine. Nice job with design!
