Easily the best vacuum I've ever used

So far I have loved everything about this vacuum. The suction is fantastic, it comes with a multitude of useful attachments, it's light enough, steers easy, and is unbelievably versatile. No joke, the dual brush rollers (one soft and one typical) are revolutionary. They pick up everything on any surface. I especially like the fact that the soft roller spins slowly on hard floors. This allows every particle to be picked up as the vacuum is not relying solely on suction. It sweeps everything into the suction line while not slinging anything out at my feet. The lift off canister feature is fantastic as well. I can carry the canister in one hand and vacuum under furniture and our couch with ease. I can also take the suction line out of the base and carry the canister up stairs, vacuuming as i go without having to lug the whole vacuum up the steps. All the attachments work well. I really like the under appliance attachment. It goes where literally no other vacuum ever has. I cannot recommend this vacuum enough. If you vacuum regularly like I do, this one is a must.

This vacuum is a nice unit. I like the suction and it does a pretty good job on the pet hair. It works really well on carpet and above average on hardwood. I like be able to break it down to clean the tough spots. Easy to empty the canister and is nice to not have to mess with a bag. The only thing preventing from me giving it a 5 is it is a pretty heavy vacuum and you can feel the weight during use. I do like my dyson animal a little better for this reason but overall a really good vacuum and it will get plenty of use.

    Started Out Great

We purchased the Apex today. This was the most we have spent on a vacuum before. This was our second Shark (have had the Rotator Pro for 3 years). Pros: Very easy to assemble out of the box. Has tons of power. It's like a self propelled lawn mower. Turn it on and it will start moving on it's own. The dual brushes will pick up any speck of dust on the floor. Cons: This is where it went sideways for us. If you have thick carpet this is probably not the vacuum for you. We have a 9 x 12 area rug that is pretty thick. We set the vacuum to the appropriate setting. Just as we were finishing the rug the red light on the bottom started flashing/the brushes stopped moving. According to the insert the motor had overheated. Also per the manufacturer you needed to let it cool for 45 minutes. This was after one area rug. I can't imagine if someone had a house full of carpet like Berber. We called Shark and spoke to a very courteous rep who was dismayed with what occurred - his words "that shouldn't happen." After putting me on hold for five minutes to double check our specific vacuum, he came back asking if the carpet was a thick variety - yes. He said, yeah you might not want to use that vacuum on that carpet. Unlike the older Shark's this one does not have any suction relief valves (only three settings - hardwood, carpet, or thick carpet/area rug). He said for the price you paid for the vacuum that's probably not practical for you. We agreed. We did attempt to finish the job and discovered that the dual brush is also very sensitive. A pine needle got sucked up and made the LED headlights flicker (this indicates to the operator to lift the lid of the brush and check for obstruction). Had to clear that away before the light stopped flickering. Bottom line: this vacuum has a lot of power but is way too sensitive for our family to manage. We were not willing to use another vacuum on the rug after spending $400 on this one. Returned it for a non duo tech Shark vacuum the same day.

Just received my Shark Apex DuoClean Bagless Upright Vacuum, and I must say, this thing is a beast. First off it was simple to put together with it being operational in about 5 minutes. I must say I really love how Shark took to detail and did not make and over extend hose. It's the perfect size and easily connects to the back of the canister. I also love that the upper part of the hose has like an almost ball joint type connector that pops into the back of the handle, which keeps the hose from flopping around all over the place. This is something that I've noticed other brands do not take into consideration. Once I turned powered on the vacuum via the integrated power-switch, this thing literally almost flew out of my hand. The suction power on this vacuum is superb and very comparable if not stronger to other brands in its class. Also integrated on the handle is a slide that switches between, Hardwood Floors, Carpet/Low Pile, and Thick Carpet/Area Rug. Each setting has its on suction power tailored specifically to what you're vacuuming. I love that Shark did not make the usual lever style type release when leaning the handle and the roller base as you start to vacuum. Simply place your foot on either side of the base and you're ready to start. Though I've not used it yet, the added under appliance nozzle accessory is an awesome tool for reaching far and beneath major appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, etc. Before I actually used this vacuum, I ran across my bedroom with my other vacuum which, to be honest I've only had for a couple of months now. Just to see how much dirt and dust the other vacuum versus, how much my new Shark Apex would pickup. This Apex won hands down, because even though my other vacuum did good, the Apex blew it away with the amount of dirt (not to mention our dog's hair) that we thought we had taken care of. One thing I will say is that after you are done vacuuming, it's probably best to power off the vacuum before returning it to an upright position, due to the powerful self-propelled motor. I would recommend this vacuum 100% to anyone on the market looking for a new vacuum cleaner. Shark really surprised me!!!

I am thoroughly impressed with this vacuum. From it's unboxing, to it's performance on carpet and hard surfaces it has been a great experience. This is not my first bag-less vacuum, but it is my first multi function vacuum that is interchangeable into many different combinations. It might sound crazy, but unpacking the vacuum makes it feel like Christmas! I can say I've never felt like that from unboxing a new vacuum before. I was genuinely excited. One great thing about this unboxing is NO STYROFOAM!! It is very well packed and bagged. It is a breeze to put together and comes with one the most well written instruction booklets and guides I've looked through. With me being new to the multi configuration vacuums, it took me about a half hour to put it all together, but that was with checking out each part, seeing how it fit with the other parts and figuring out the different combinations you could have it in, and how everything broke down for maintenance. That's just me but it would only take a couple minutes to put together and get using if you just want to get vacuuming. At first, running the vacuum took a few minutes to get used to. Then it turns into a pleasant surprise! The first thing you will notice is the rotating ability of the motor/brush assembly. It can turn 90 degrees on a dime with very little hand movement. The next thing you will notice is that it is self propelling in the forward motion. It requires very little effort to use. What's great is the vacuum is really quiet, and the suction is STRONG. At first it doesn't seem like it's working very well, with how quiet it is and easy to push. Then you look at the collection container. I was in shock at how much dirt and debris it picked up out of the carpet, seeing as I had just vacuumed the same area with my older bag-less vacuum before hand. They make everything so easy to change around and emptying the collection container is very simple. The top and bottom both open up and also makes it easy to wash out. Some great features include a removable "hood" over the brush assembly that you can take off to clean out the brush, and also remove the front roller to be washed with water. My most favorite feature is the "On the fly" floor changing feature built into the handle. Unlike most vacuums that you have to set the vacuum upright and turn the adjusting knob on the motor/brush housing in order to change, this one changes from bare floor, to low carpet/deep clean, to thick carpet/area rugs with a quick easy push of the thumb on the handle so no need to stop when changing surfaces. It comes with 4 accessory attachments, and an attachment bag. The largest attachment does not fit all the way in the bag, but I hang the bag on a hook on the wall in my utility room, so it's not too bad. The vacuum only has space for 2 attachments, one of which does not come with the vacuum, but is instead an extra attachment you can buy extra from shark if you choose which is a motorized pet hair attachment. The other side can only fit the small duster attachment. Two of the attachments have 360 swivels on them which makes it nice for getting into area's with them. The one large attachment is flimsy compared to the other 3 and I really don't like using it. Maintenance is easy on it. As I have already mentioned the brush hood, it also has 3 filters which are all very easy to access and all of them are cleanable by just washing them with water, and letting them dry for 24 hours. I would recommend washing out the collection container often. I do have gripes with the vacuum, which is my reason for a 4 star. These are personal quirks and may not be an issue for you. First is the power cord. It is one of the thicker power cords I have seen on a vacuum and is about 20-25ft long. While the length is nice, and you are able to reach many area's with out constantly re plugging, it is designed for use with the vacuum as a fully assembled upright. The cord angles up coming out of the motor base and wraps up between the top of the wand nozzle and the bottom of the motor base. If using in a different configuration, there is no way to wrap up the cord, and the up angle on the cord makes it look like it could be a problem in the future with stresses pulling the cord down when in a different configuration. A cord retracter would be a nice touch and bit smaller diameter cord. Second is the flexible hose for the wand nozzle is too short in my opinion. It stretches out to about 6' in length but it is a bit cumbersome to use, because power wires for the vacuum run through the flex hose to connect power in all the area's for all different configurations. It needs to be about 2 feet longer fully stretched out in my opinion. My third gripe is with the accessories. To get the best use and use the motor assembly as a tag along, you have to purchase a little wheel dolly assembly to set it on so it will roll around the room with you. Only problem is Shark does not yet have this vacuum's accessories for sale on their website, and personally I think it should be part of the accessories you get when buying the vacuum, especially with a $400 price tag. I know they will probably update their website soon, but it should be available for sale if you are selling the vacuum and list the extra attachments in the guide manual. Overall I am extremely impressed with this vacuum, the power it has, the maneuverability, and the different configurations you can put it in. It is by far the best vacuum I have owned and I definitely recommend it.

The Shark - APEX DuoClean AX951 Bagless Upright Vacuum - Sage green is not difficult to assemble, even though it has several parts and attachments. I used it in its upright position for general floor cleaning and used the lift-away position when I needed to clean high areas near the ceiling and upper windows. The power of the suction is really strong and leaves no dust, debris or lint behind. The wand detaches so that specialized attachments can be used to vacuum upholstery, shelves, blinds, and walls. It can vacuum hard floors or carpets just by choosing the setting on the handle. My Shark APEX DuoClean AX951 Bagless Upright Vacuum is brand new so there is no need for maintenance at this time, but the instructions for maintenance are simple to follow with step by step instructions. I look forward to keeping my home clean with the Shark APEX DuoClean AX951 Bagless Upright Vacuum.

I'll start with this I'm not a big fan of the color on this vacuum, but it's honestly the best one I have ever used. Shark is quickly becoming my favorite appliance company. They offer great products at great prices. This vacuum cleaner works great I love the fact that when you have it on it feels like it's moving itself. Makes vacuuming the floors easier all the attachments were great to clean up all the crumbs and garbage my kids leave on the couch. It's incredibly easy to take apart to clean. And the vacuum itself is not very heavy making it easy to move around the house. I easily can say I recommend this vacuum to anyone looking for a new one.

I've had a few Shark Vacuums, and been happy with them all, and this one is no different; I like the fact it comes with so many attachements that used to cost extra with other Shark products, and, although its a bit heavier than most, it works great, and you can go from hardwood floors to carpet easily, bu just flipping a switch. Take a look at this if you are considering overpaying for a Dyson or another brand, you wont be disappointed!

I enjoy using this vacuum very much! It transitions easily from carpet to floor. The pivoting head is so nice & the canister lifts off quickly so you can vacuum under furniture. The soft roller works well cleaning the dust off the rug where it meets the wall, so I don't need to use the crevice tool. Best of all, the rugs look fantastic when you're finished. I like the fact that you empty the canister after each use. This is keeps the vacuum from retaining any dirt odors. I ordered the motorized pet tool & it does a great job on our carpeted stairs. As far as noise level, it is good. I can hear the phone ring or someone talking to me without them having to yell. I am so pleased with this vacuum & I have recommended it to family & friends.

I Love my new SHARK AX951 From unboxing to complete assembly, it only took me about 5 minutes or so! You only have to snap/lock together 4 parts! Very simple and straight-forward. The first thing I noticed is that it does have a little weight, BUT is much lighter than my old canister vacuum. But Wait, There is so much more to this awesome vacuum! Besides the simple assembly, it has a Ton of power, suction & features that will impress even the most skeptical. I know that I am impressed. - It has a dual roller system in the power-head (motorized floor nozzle) and has an easy release door for easy access to the rollers for ease of cleaning and maintenance. Also a lighted indicator to show you the status if it is working or not or needs cleaning. AND 2 LED Headlights! - There are 3 settings for floor types: 1.Bare Floors (Hardwood/Linoleum/Tile) 2.Low Pile Carpet (Has the strongest suction *but all are strong) 3.High Pile Carpet - Tons of Power & Suction (11.3A) But is very quiet considering! A Big plus for me! - It comes with 4 attachments (Tools) 1. Dual purpose Duster/Crack & Crevice (retractable duster brush on tool) 2. Dual purpose Pet Multi-Tool that has a removable stiff brush to convert to a great tool that I use on furniture and drapes. 3. An Anti-Allergen Brush/Wand that removes dust from even delicate surfaces! 4. An Extendable Long Under Appliance Wand that also has angle adjustments. The "Dirt Cup/Motor" or Pod is removable so you can conveniently get under furniture easily and also to use for other cleaning tasks such as drapes, ceilings, stairs, furniture etc.... You can also purchase other attachments and there is also an optional Caddy available which will carry your Pod and all Tools which in essence changes this into a canister vacuum for another convenience! You can attach any of the Tools to either, just the handle for close-up controlled cleaning OR leave the Wand attached to the handle and all Tools also attach to it for a longer reach. It has a great filtration system that Shark boasts emits 10X less particles than the "Sealed HEPA Standards Requirements" Sounds great for all of us that are prone to dust allergies for sure! Oh, I forgot to mention that when used as an upright (with the power nozzle/power head) That it turns around corners effortlessly just like a "Ball" type vacuum. It also has a very long cord which is great. I also found it easier to wind the power cord around the hooks IF you remove the Tool on that side. All parts are easily removed or attached for versatility and to empty Pod dirt cup as well. I would recommend everyone looking for a great powerful vacuum to have a look at this one. It is the very best that I have owned

No more sneaking up on dog food so you don't shoot them across the floor like marbles. I have two Great Danes that carry dog food through the house that stick to their jowls, so this thing is heaven sent. Shark has been my vacuum of choice for many years, in fact I recommended them to my mom, sister, brother, two sons, friends etc. For the most part they have been excellent but seem to have went downhill in the last two years. So, when My APX952 DuoClean started having the wheel fall off for the second time, I called Shark, since I had a seven (7) year warranty. Looking at the problem the wheel isn’t held on by a screw, but is friction forced, and I noticed the lock washer holding the wheel on was missing. I call Shark to get a new wheel. Guess what, they don’t sell a wheel, so you can’t buy a replacement. Well at least I have a seven-year warranty, and I’m not even in year three yet. However, when I call Shark, and I’m told the WHEEL isn’t covered, and I will have to buy a complete NEW power head unit. What? For just a wheel? Yes, I’m told. I will say the covered it once, but when it happened again, the unit had only been used about five times when the wheel fell off again, but this time NO deal. I know it is not me because we have multiple vacuums (four) corded, and one cordless all SHARK, and the wheel hasn’t fallen off them (and they get more use). Since I paid $400+ for the vacuum, I figure if I order the unit @ $90 dollars, that’s cheaper than a new vacuum, but it should have been under warranty. I was told a supervisor would contact me in 2-4 hours, but that did not happen, however they did finally contact me about 48-50 hours later, but offered no help, and basically said, lump it. They could look and see how many Shark products I had purchased, but she said we don’t care. That is a wearable item, and we don’t cover it. Wow five uses and it wears out. Shark, you lost a faithful customer, and I will never again darken your door/website. I don’t know where I will go, but it won’t be Shark. So even though their vacuum is good when it works, it worthless when their warranty sucks, and not in a good way. Goodbye Shark

    Worst Shark product ever made

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the 4th type of Shark Vacuum I've owned. I've always loved Shark products. I clean houses for a living so I use my Sharks several hours a week. This Duo clean one is not only the worst Shark I've ever used it's one of the worst vacuums ever. It had great suction and thats the only good thing about it. Bad things: 1. Really clunky and heavy and less maneuverability than my previous Sharks. 2. All the points of attachment/detachment are much harder to manage. Not just simple clicks like previous sharks. They are hard to line up and when you think they are clicked in and locked into place you go to pick it up and it flies apart. 3. The carpet height settings are off. I have very low/tight pile antique wool rugs with fringe. Never had a problem going along edges with previois sharks. The height settings on this one, even the highest one is too low for even my extremely low pile carpets and creates too much suction so that A. It gives an error and the brush stops spinning and you have to turn it lff and then on again to reset. B. It sucks the rug up with it as you push and wrinkles/bunches it C. When you get to the edges it sucked and actually ripped off some fringe. D. Once you get to an edge you cant just pull it backwars and start a new pass. You have to push forward completely off the rug. Pick it up off the floor and put it back inside the border of the rug and push forward all the way again. No smooth easy back/forth motion. It literally hurt my back and I had to take medication to relieve it after one day of using this. It went straight back in the box and returned the next day. I would not use it again if it was free.
