Good vacuum for open spaces and low traffic areas

This is my first robot vacuum. I have been hesitant to use one due to the large amount of dust and dirt that comes with living on a farm. Overall the performance is not perfect, but adequate to keep down the pet hair and dirt on a daily basis. In the box is the vacuum, spare filter, spare side brushes and the docking station. Setup is easy, install side brushes, find open area to place dock, install app and connect to wifi. If you have a space that you do not want the vacuum to go to, there are "BotBoundary" strips that you can place down to keep the vacuum from going there. This is helpful for stairs, staying in select rooms, and keeping away from pet water bowls. The app can be used to program cleaning mode (eco, normal, max), find the robot (very helpful), send it to dock, and manage the cleaning schedule. My primary use for the app is to get alerts when the vacuum is stuck on a rug (or kids toy) that I have to go extract it from. I am using this on the main floor of the house, which is all hardwood or tile, with a few rugs. I set the vacuum to clean Mon - Fri starting at 7, which is does reliably. There are 10 rooms on the main floor of this farm house, it is not an open concept, the vacuum does a fair job of navigating the house, but really only manages to clean 5 of the rooms, it will go in a total of 7 rooms, and completely misses the bedrooms and bathroom at the end of the house. The vacuum has no issues moving between tile and hardwood, it does fine on low rugs, such as door mats, but it always gets stuck on a deeper pile rug. I ended up putting down boundary strips for this rug, as it would get stuck every day. One thing that did impress me is that the vacuum manages to return to the docking station every day without getting stuck. As far as the actual vacuum ability, the Shark performs as expected. I have to empty the dirt canister daily due to having 3 indoor pets and 2 children who track in dirt on a daily basis. There is a filter to clean by tapping it on the trashcan (not designed to be rinsed / cleaned). It's not the best design, but after a few weeks, I haven't had any issues with it. I can see having to replace the filter and deep clean the vacuum at least once a month. Overall, this vacuum won't handle large messes, but will keep your dirt and pet hair to a minimum. Side note - It will also successfully disassemble any Lego creation within 2 minutes (while spreading Legos throughout the house). I think the best use of this vacuum would be tile / hardwoods in an open floor plan with moderate to low obstacles / kids toys to navigate.

I had an ecovac dbot prior to this and am so disappointed with this product. It doesn't edge. It gets itself stuck in corners and isn't able to get itself out. You need to sweep before you use it if you have pine needles if you want them picked up. Most of all, the app doesn't let you control movement at all. I expected a better product out of shark for the price!

It picks up when it wants to. It is definitely not a good replacement for a bigger vacuum that can get the job done better for big spaces. This one is just to go over what your big vacuum might not have picked up.

It’s good but idk if it’s great. It talks about smart technology but all it does it goes in one direction until it bumps into something, then turns, n goes somewhere else. My wife likes it and it helps out but I guess we were expecting more.

It worked perfectly the first month, now it seems like it connects and disconnects itself. Some times works and some times doesn't. It was a gift, can't complaint too much, spend your money on a higher end one.

Cleans decent ofcourse not deep cleaning the arms kind of knock debris out of the way instead of bringing into the vacuum Better for more open space areas with not a lot of clutter , louder than expected. Has a deep passion for human feet .

I’m all in on robot vacuums - after starting to use my Roomba couple of years back I was sold on the ease and convenience of the system. I also have a Shark upright vacuum when heavy lifting is required, so it was a no brainer for me when I got the opportunity to use Shark’s ION Robot Vacuum. The robot vacuum is really easy to set up and use. You just plug-in the dock to the electrical outlet and put the vacuum on the prongs. Cleaning can be started manually by pressing the Clean button. The robot finds its way through the obstacles and does a decent amount of cleaning. The vacuum power can’t be directly compared to a full-size manual vacuum, but for it’s sized the suction power is impressive. The brushroll is very nice in combing thought my apartment carpet. Do make sure it doesn’t get tangled in wires, or if you want to restrict access to some specific areas, a roll of tape-like “BotBoundary strips” are provided. Simple putting that on the floor/carpet near the restricted area keeps the robot from venturing there. There are two rotating sidebrushes that also dusts off the edges of the wall which is very convenient. The robot also has “cliff sensors”, but since I live in a single-floor apartment, I was not able to test it out. Apparently it keeps the robot away from staircases so it doesn’t fall over. Another thing worth mentioning is compared to conventional vacuums, this unit is very quiet. The smartphone app works really good. You can start cleaning immediately, or schedule something for later. If you set the WiFi option, then the robot can be controlled remotely. The only feature that failed me is the Voice control via Google Assistant (it also supports Amazon Alexa, but I didn’t try it out). The first time I set it up it worked fine, but later it stopped working altogether. I’m guessing it’s something to do with the app (the comments in the Google Play Store supports that). Overall, I'm extremely happy with the features and performance of the robot vacuum.
