I think this vacuum is poorly designed as the weight is up by the handle and not down in the vacuum head so it tends to run over the top of the carpet instead of deep cleaning where you want it. This also makes it hard to control and direct the cleaning head. May be ok for a tall person but at 5'4", certainly didn't work for me, especially at the price.

I have a corded Shark duo clean already and I love it. I expected the cordless version would be no different. As for pick up, it's great. I love the two speed availability for extra suction and the ease of the controls on the handle. I can stop the brush from spinning from carpet to floor with a push of a button, which is very convenient. On plus with the cordless version is the ability to let it stand up on it's own. By releasing the "elbow" and letting the top heavy part fall over, the unit is very well balanced and so it's easy to store. I did find out however, like my corded version, the container fills very fast. I guess that's a good thing, because it means it works. I get very fine dust (sand) to large items in the bin and I have to empty it after one or two rooms. I live in the desert, so sand is just one of the things I have to deal with. I love the blue led lights on the side of the unit that shows the status of a charge. There are 3 leds and they flash as they charge. I'm able to see if it's charging on step one, two or three, letting me guess how much longer to leave it plugged in. My only con is the accessory tools. There are a bunch of them and they all look useful. The problem is there isn't any storage on the unit. Do I get a tote or a box to take them from room to room? On my corded version, there is a clip on holder that holds 2 tools. It doesn't work all that great, but at least I'm able to have the tools available if I need them. Overall, except for tool storage, this is a handy vacuum. I'm able to grab it and vacuum up a small area quickly or it's versatile enough to use for the entire house. I'm not sure how long a charge will last, but so far it's holding up quite nicely.

Holy cow, is this thing powerful! When you turn it on, it almost jumps out of your hand! It is a very eager and aggressive little vacuum! My wife has cast our Dyson rollerball vacuum to the side and now uses the Shark exclusively. She even told me to give the Dyson away, lol. She really loves this thing. It is only small in size, but large in power. It is lightweight, rechargeable, and has different attachments designed to meet all needs. We just can't get over how powerful this thing is. I have never had a vacuum like it. I can't recommend this thing enough. We love it.

The Shark IF201 is the perfect vacuum for smaller jobs. It comes with plenty of attachments and is a nice versatile vacuum. The head pivots like a Dyson. Has some bright LED headlights to light the way and is easy to empty. On the main part of the vacuum (handle) you can control the power of the motor to conserve energy and you can select carpet or hard floors. It's very handy when transitioning from the kitchen to a carpeted area. The Shark has decent suction for what it is. I used in on a large area rug then the kitchen and it was able to clean up the edges and corners quite well. I won't be needing to move the Dyson all the way upstairs anymore. The battery comes drained so you will need to charge it for several hours. It doesn't come with a charging dock that is sold separately. You get the wall adapter and you plug it straight into the battery itself. You can charge it while the battery is in the vacuum though. Works well. When storing the Shark you simply push the button on the wand/pole and it collapses at the hinge and locks in place nicely. In this position it can be stored and charged. Overall this Shark vacuum is going to make things easier around the house for us. If you're in the market for a stick vacuum you won't be disappointed with the Shark IF201.

Bought this thing in November for a quick way to vacuum dog hair about twice a week. It worked ok for a quick vacuum but it started going bad in August. It only lasted nine months when it started having problems starting and the sound of grinding and a slight burning smell. Absolute waste of $300. NOT AZ RECOMMENDED VACUUM

I haven’t owned, or used, a portable/cordless Vac since the Dustbuster was new. I was a bit shocked at how much these were, and am here to say this is a worthy investment. Pros: It’s lightweight, battery is removable, the wand is kinda neat to use, and it seems to handle pet hair like a champ. Cons: The dustbin tray was a bit tricky for me at first, but once you figure it out, you don’t have to worry about spilling the contents all over the floor. I wish this had a dock for easier charging, but that’s just a wish. The battery can drain pretty quickly, so be sure to pick the right floor type, and charge the battery when you’re done. Technology has come a long way since the Dustbuster, and I feel like I just lept forward into a new era of cordless vacuum tech. This is definitely worthy of your attention if you’re in the market for a powerful cordless vac!

This is our first cordless battery powered vacuum and the results do not disappoint. Overall it's extremely lightweight, easy to use and store. The best feature would be the flexible wand which allows for us to clean under our furniture and beds without having to move anything. A lot of "light weight" vacuums claim the ability to do this but because the base tends to be so thick it doesn't reach as far. The ionFlex base is extremely thin and can reach deep into the middle of our bed. We would've given the full 5 stars but unfortunately the battery dock is an "upgradeable" accessory. Why not just include it? All in all the vacuum does not disappoint. We haven't had a chance to try out the dyson but given that we're satisfied with this one we don't think we would need to give it a second thought

I purchased this model to try and save a little money instead of buying the pricier competition. Boy, what a mistake! The primary use was for wood floors and one carpeted bedroom.....every few minutes (even on wood surfaces), the unit just spontaneously stopped. The suction is poor, the components to change the attachments are so clumsy and difficult to attach. Not user-friendly AT ALL. I'm hoping I can return it to the manufacturer!

Great Product Undermined by Battery Life & Price

I wish I could give half stars officially but for this model - 3.5 stars. Any model that comes with two batteries - 4 stars. This thing cleans extremely well, especially for a cordless. We currently have one of the Shark Lift-Away vacuums and while that one thus far has been the best vacuum my wife and I have ever used, this one does work even better due to the central suction and dual deep cleansing brushroll design. The Lift-Away uses the single brushroll to carry debris to the hose located on the side of the head which in the process may miss picking things up or may just kick debris back like cat litter or dead grass. The duo-clean has a front fully bristled brush that grabs debris and seals it inside along with pads and bristles that line the opening which then gives the 2nd standard brushroll the chance to capture and push it all towards the centrally located hose. It works just as well on carpet as the brushrolls seem to reach deep into the carpet to pick up whatever. It's also highly maneuverable and light. Along with the low profile I can move it around everything quickly. Other Pros: - Headlights aren't just a gimmick (actually pretty bright) - Good attachments (especially the two in one crevice/brush tool which is majorly convenient) - Can vacuum nearly completely flat (good for getting under any tables and chairs from afar) The biggest major con is simply the battery life. This thing is amazing but don't expect to use it long enough to do your large home. They seem to realize this since they offer/promote a model that comes with a 2nd battery as well as recommend purchasing a 2nd battery for models that only come with one. However the easy click in battery design does account for this and extra batteries will solve this problem however it's more of a necessity as opposed to just a convenient option. The charge time is 3.5 hours which is pretty good but compared to a 20 minute run time on the regular setting using a mixture of floor and attachments leaves much to be desired. I contacted Shark just to ensure I didn't have a faulty battery and they told me the advertised battery runtime under normal mode is about 23 minutes. But for as long as that battery DOES last you will have confidence it is doing a great job. The portability makes it a valuable companion for quick, specific jobs like cleaning tables, furniture, vents, floors and so on. For small enough homes and apartments this could very well be your all in one vacuum. For large homes it may be beneficial to get one of the plug-in upright models or spend the money on 2-3 extra batteries to then make it your primary vacuum. Other (minor) Cons: - Can't stand on it's own when upright without leaning it on something (not really a big deal but worth mentioning) - In carpet mode it's so strong, it actually pulls away a bit (if you let it go, it may just keep going! But potentially, could make some people's arm a bit sore) All things considering I WOULD still recommend this but with headed warnings. It depends on your situation and whether or not you want to shell out even more money for extra batteries to make this your primary household vacuum which is still a viable option. But with just a single battery at the MSRP, this great product is held back. Hopefully one day they can sell upgraded, longer lasting batteries without buying a whole new vacuum.

I've been on the lookout for a battery powered vacuum for awhile now, when I saw this, I was excited... I have used this as a "quick grab" to clean my house with, quickly sweep up dust/food off the hardwood kitchen floors, quickly sweep a rug or carpet, without having to get my BIG vacuum out, plug it in, etc... I like the storage of this, because it folds down to about half its size when not in use... the battery life seems great so far, when I got I charged it until full, and have used it on my house without noticing any drain on the battery (2400 sq/ft). Not sure how long it will last between charges, but so far so good. The dust bin has ample space for cleaning my house. Assembly was easy, charging was easy, it was easy to use, and comes with 4 attachments that were easy to use as well. This has a lot of pros, and the only real con i can think of is the price, but i do think its worth it.

I have one of the older vacuums that weighs about 20 pounds. Has tons of attachments. When you see something this small and lightweight you have to shake your head no. When I saw the box delivered and carried it inside I still though, there is no way this will clean my house. I have mostly solid floor, and rugs, With a dog and 2 cats. I WAS WRONG, this really works Out of the box I did have to charge it (pet peeve of mine, so either it comes uncharged or loses the charge fast). Took about an hour to fully charge (there are indicators on the side to tell you how much it has). Using this is a snap. I had never had a vacuum that could move around corners so easy and under cabinets. Yes it picks up cat and dog hair on my tiles great. There is a bright LED light to see where you are going. It is slightly self propelled (going forward). I let me older mom use it and she loved it (free house clean for me) Pro: easy setup and storage very light weight bright light very "bendy" for corners so much quieter than my old vacuum cons: short battery life for a pet dad the dust storage is small all these cool tools and no place to store them For pet hair I had to turn on the bare floor and power suck to really clean my rugs the filter says to change every month. seems one you could clean would be better. For me and my pets I probably have to change more often. If you don't have pets, and a smaller place and little storage space this is AMAZING. Even with a house for the smaller cleans this will be a great vacuum.

I have a central vaccum, however, recently one of the head unit with the brush broke. Decided to give the Shark vaccum a try. It is truly amazing. Once fully charged, the vaccum was pulling me along even on the carpet, so you can imagine the suction power! So far, so good. Comes with a variety of attachments and does a good job even on hardwood floors. Glad I got it.

This vacuum cleaner is easy to use and great for small jobs. If you have a small apartment this will serve you well. The suction is good and if you set it for Max suction it is even better. The reason I gave this 3 stars is that the battery life just isn't good enough for my needs and I did not buy the second battery. When the battery runs out, it takes a few hours to fully recharge. I also want to use this vacuum cleaner on my cars and it is not designed well to maneuver around the inside of a vehicle. It has lots of attachments but no short extension for them. The extension is rather long and if you don't use it then the handle interferes with the shorter attachments.
