A Shark that is Welcomed!

Popping the IQ Robot out of the box found the IQ, Docking Station, side brushes and BotBoundry. Setup of the docking station and the IQ unit was remarkable easy, and APP installed smoothly. The APP is intuitive and straightforward, well writing program.
Spoiler Alert – Running and watching the IQ was both fascinating and highly entertaining for the family. Reminded me of the movie “Batteries not Included” watching the robot run its program with the side brushes swishing round and round. Wife says it is cute, our Beagle much to my surprise could have cared less and did not give a second look. This being a Beagle who is highly vocal to anyone or anything around our home.
Really Like:
- Very gentle against the furniture and walls.
- Quiet, very quiet does not interrupt watching TV like every other vacuum I have owned.
- Efficient.
- “Find Robot” button if you lose track of the IQ press the Find Robot button on the APP – will Jingle.
1st Run:
Prepared home for the IQ by moving a few items and placing boundary strips where needed and started up IQ.
Watched the IQ start its routine and was fascinated observing the progress as the IQ was “learning” the environment. At times it would pause, and I am sure it was running the program/algorithm analyzing collected data as it began to create its internal map.
Could see right away that the IQ is a Smart device and from my observations the program appears to be well written and quickly adapting to the boundaries of the home. Each consecutive run the IQ has become quicker and the route becomes more efficient. For a techie this is cool stuff.
On the first run the IQ filled up fairly quickly and returned to base and emptied debris, very “cute” watching the IQ return to base and dock. Subsequent runs did not require emptying until cleaning was completed. When empty moved off the dock played a musical jingle like it is letting you know and proud of itself then returned to finish vacuuming.
In one room there is a large golf putting mat which the IQ navigated and cleaned as well as rugs throughout the home.
Slowed and bumped into a couple larger Lego units gently, stored data point turned and went on its merry way. See Sand Crawler in Pic’s.
Forgot about IQ while busy writing when I realized that I couldn’t hear or find the unit. Found it between a recliner and a wall with the use of the Find Robot button. Subsequent vacuuming the IQ apparently recalled the area and was able to vacuum the narrow angled area and continue.
After completing first run and returning to docking base it did complete the docking but was slightly off. Next runs the dockings were accomplished successfully.
2nd run
Much more familiar with the floor/obstacles with increased efficiency over 1st run.
Forgot to block access to behind couch, where the IQ ran over wires and onto a spider glue trap. Wires survived but glue trap finally stopped IQ which audibly announced an error five. Pulled the very sticky spider trap easily away from the drive wheel and IQ was back on its way. A BotBoundry Strip corrected that issue.
Cleaning Run two ran smoothly as well as the third run and the IQ continue to find more efficient paths.
Cleaning; visually can see that both carpeted and hard floors have been well cleaned. For deeper carpets suggest running traditional vacuum occasionally for deeper cleaning of the carpet and edges along walls. If you run the IQ on a regular basis should find the need for deeper cleaning to lessen considerably.
Docking Station:
- Evacuates all debris from the IQ with each docking.
- Charging ports located on either side of station base.
- Clear side window for viewing debris in the container.
- Base Dust Bin detaches easily and is very handy.
No big surprise the IQ Robot being a current version of autonomous vacuums that it performs its tasks smoothly end efficiently utilizing advanced sensors data processing capabilities.
Bottom-line, the IQ cleans exceptionally well and recommend it to all who like me would rather be doing something other than vacuuming. It is “Highly” Wife approved!

I saved up for this based on a friend’s recommendation and I love it. I used it for several weeks by setting it to clean manually because we couldn’t get the app to work with our internet due to the way our google mesh selects the 2.4 and 5 ghz. Finally, my daughter set up a guest WiFi which uses the 2.4ghz and she got it to work. The app is the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars. Otherwise, I love it. It works great going between our carpet and wood floors. Even goes over our area floor rugs with no issues. It is a little noisier on the wood floors but still not as loud as a regular vacuum. I love that I can schedule it. I also love that it has a setting that tells it to evacuate (empty into the main bin) more than normal. Because I have animals, that is a definite plus. It says you should only have to empty the main bin every 30 days but I usually end up doing it every couple of days because of all the pet hair. Overall, thus had made my life ten times easier!

If you have a dog and need a vacuum that will help you manage pet hair this is definitely a solid option! The vacuum does a great job of mapping the house and cleaning thoroughly. It might pass over some tighter spaces every once in awhile, but it will still get them. The only drawbacks I found are if the dust cup is too full it may not empty properly on the dock. Sometimes it requires playing with and reempting. You could always just pull the cup out and dump it in the trash though. In addition, if your floors aren't completely clear it will get stuck. If it runs over like clothes or anything like that you'll have to pick it up, pull whatever it is from under it and reset it down. Limitations aside though it's definitely a great addition to my home and I wouldn't have it any other way! These bad boys keep my floors clean and Free of pet hair.

Previously, I owned an iRobot. I was drawn to this Shark model because of the self-emptying feature. At this point, I’ve been using it a little over a month and can say it never gets stuck! (Actually, it did get stuck eating my granddaughter’s t-shirt once, but I don’t count that - she shouldn’t have left it on the floor).
This vacuum does a thorough job, meticulously sweeping row by row - kind of like one would mow the lawn. My other vacuum kind of had a hap-hazard method, sometimes missing debris and often getting stuck. I had improvised “bot stops” all over my house, to prevent that from happening. Thoughtfully, this product comes with inconspicuous strips you can utilize as necessary, but I haven’t needed them.
I have emptied the dust container only once so far and I own a small dog. I’ve also had to clean the compartment on the vacuum once.
Two improvements I would like to see:
1. Have the vacuum repeat any messages it gives. If you don’t hear it, you have to guess or look on the ap.
2. Find a way to prevent hair from wrapping around the brush near the wheels. One side has a removable end piece. If the other side had the same design it would be easy!
Overall, great performance!

This was a luxury purchase. It works better than expected. It gets into unexpected small spaces. It picks up as well as my upright carpet cleaner, with the exception of one small area.
The self-emptying feature is spectacular. I didn't vacuum before using the robot vac. I wanted to see how it did in the worst situation. When it gets full, it empties and goes back to continue cleaning. It picks up very small particles as well as crumbs, hair, grass, leaves... It is easy to empty the base. It is heavier than expected, which helps it move smoothly around the house. It is surprisingly quiet.
I would like to have a 'clean' and 'dock' button option on the app. The only option is to 'schedule' cleaning. I cleaned the whole apparatus after 3 cleanings to see how the process went fairly easily. I have a long haired dog and have fairly long hair myself. There was a small amount of hair wound around the roller, not unexpected, and less than gets around my upright roller.
Overall, I an very pleased with this purchase.

I'm in the process of getting my FIOS installed on 9/10/21, so i haven't hooked it to the Wi-Fi yet. But just pressing the "clean" button on the robot, it still maps out your rooms very well. When i want it to stop, just press the "dock" button on the robot, and it finds it's way back to the base, positions itself, and backs itself right up on the base and then it gets self-cleaned by the base unit. Very cool. Do you still need to use the regular vacuum ? Of course - but let me tell you - i have a Puggle who seems to be in a constant shed-mode, and what a job this does. You can really notice how much less hairs are on the floors and carpets. Can't wait to hook this up to the Wi-Fi, but until then this does the job fantastic. I can go on, but you get it....this robot is the real deal !!

Pros:
- maps the house to ensure it actually cleans all the areas
- can schedule cleaning days/times through the app
- powerful vacuum for the size; picks up most dirt and hair
Cons:
- A bit loud. I run the vacuum at night and it's woken me up a few times.
- Gets stuck easily. It does have nice large wheels but still gets stuck on Furniture
- small items left by kids can get stuck in the roll or trap and cause the vacuum to stop. You have to clean up before you let the vacuum loose (this isn't an entirely bad thing, forces me to clean more often)

Does a great job on our bare floors & an area rug in our family room. Has issues with the texture on our door mats (Water Hog brand) but other than that, it works just fine. It is quite loud when it docks & cleans out the dust bin but it's not a big deal because it only lasts about 30 seconds (maybe). Great for daily clean-up but don't get rid of your regular vacuum just yet, as we still use ours for a deeper clean, especially on the area rugs. We've had two other similar products, a Roomba & a Eufy & I'd rate this as better than both. The main selling point for us on this Shark model was the self-emptying capability - it's extremely convenient! I can set the Shark to clean at a certain time & I don't have to even be there. It runs & empties on its own.

Our house should be a proving ground for these robot vacuums. Hardwood and carpet, plenty of animals and lots of space. We bought the Shark because of the self emptying feature. We already purchased the Deebot Ozmo 930 earlier this year and it is amazing! The only downfall was that its cleaning bin was so small, we had to empty it three times each run. So we figured, we buy the shark, it can do a first run, empty itself and then we can run the Deebot afterwards for a touch-up run and wouldn't have to empty it at all. We were wrong. While the shark does return to its base and empty itself, it just does not work well on carpets at all. It runs over pet hair, balls it up and won't pick it up. Its brush while most often remains pretty tangle free, there are times where our pet hair just jams in there and causes an obstruction that shuts it down. The hair balls it creates even make it difficult for our Deebot to pick up. The app is good but it did take about 8 runs before it mapped the downstairs completely. It's also pretty loud even on its mid power mode. If Deebot had a self emptying version our vacuum woes would be gone and we could get rid of the Shark. If you don'd have a menagerie of animals 3 dogs including a Great Pyrenees, 3 cats, oh and we just added another dog) like we have the Shark might work well for you. As an overall vacuum we cannot recommend it because it just can't handle carpets anywhere near what the Deebot does.

This is my second Shark Robo Vac. My first one is 3 years old and still works great. We needed an additional one and decided on this one because it has the self cleaning feature. It mapped my 1st floor with no problems after 4 runs. The key is the rooms need light. I been using it 3-4 times a day and it runs for approx 1 hour. It works great on pet hair and so far it does not get hair tangled in the brush like my older shark. The self cleaning feature is great. The Shark app is easy to work with, and it connects to alexa with no problems. Shark makes great vacs, Im happy with my purchase.

Overall it's a good vacuum and does well enough picking up what it needs to. It maps the home well and being able to setup zones helps a lot when needing to do quick clean up in certain areas of the home.
I would say it mostly falls short in software. The app asks you what zones you would like to clean with you click "clean" only half the time. So it's annoying to hit "clean" and it goes off and starts cleaning the whole house when you only wanted to select a few zones. I would then need to wait for it to dock and then reset the app and hit clean again hoping it would do the pop up to ask what zones. It became frustrating to take 3-4 minutes to get the vacuum going because I had to wait for it to dock again. The app should present you the options to select what zones BEFORE hitting the clean option, not after.
Another software issue I had was I would select zones, and it would ALWAYS go and clean the room immediate in front of it instead of going to the zones I selected. It would get to them eventually, but again, I don't want to wait for the vacuum to do what it wants before it does what I want.
I still give it a four stars because it does a good job overall, and if they fixed the software issues I would have kept it. I ended up returning it because it was too inconsistent software wise to use.

Good Value but not the smartest vacuum

Vacuum took a while to get the house mapped (about 5-8 times or so) but does clean very well. When mapping out the rooms of the house you will need to make sure the lines of the rooms do not touch or overlap.
Otherwise the vacuum will not go to the specific room to clean. This is important information I feel like the FAQ should have.
The robot does take a bit to find where it is at before it will start to clean the specific rooms selected. It also seems to take a while to find it way back to the docking station.
I have owned this for about a month but the robot is still on 2019 firmware and support says they have no control on when or if it will be pushed out even though it is on the internet constantly.
The self emptying base works very well and shows how much the robot has collected without needing to empty it daily.
If you move the vacuum to another floor that isn't mapped you can set it down, push clean on it and it will do all the available area. Once you see it is done then you can pick it up and bring it back to the base to empty.
I gave the vacuum 4 stars since the room mapping doesn't allow you to pinch/zoom in when setting it up along with no mention that you cannot have the room lines touching. The app also does not display how long the robot has been cleaning, just how long the app has been open which is incorrect.
It isn't the smartest vacuum but does the job compared to robots 2x the price.

Love our new Shark Robot. We named her "Roberta". She's smart, efficient and can get under the bed and the dresser where we could not reach to vacuum or clean. We got a good deal at Best Buy, she runs smoothly and we have had no problems with her whatsoever. Love the fact that she empties herself, and does a great job mapping the house and knows exactly where to go and cleans thoroughly. Can't recommend this item highly enough. Very, very happy with Best Buy's prices and warranty availability.

Don't imagine this is the smartest or best robot vacuum. But its a game changer around my house. With multiple pets, I have this thing run daily. Within a few days the bin is full of fur and my floors are spotless.
It will get stuck, wedge itself between chair legs or choke on a charger cable or sock. But to have clean, fur free house is 100% worth it.
Also cleans up decent after sucking up cat puke. Yea, my vacuum has been tortured, as still works flawless.

PROS
Reliability. I don’t have to worry about “will it work?” I have a regular Shark vacuum. This one is just as reliable as my other vacuum. The automatic empty feature is a must have! Skip the model without the auto empty and get this one.
Ease of use. READ the directions! You will NEED a good Wi-Fi connection throughout your home. You will also need a smart phone or tablet that can download the app. If you don’t have those things, don’t buy this. Pick up the wires, shoelaces, items that it may suck up before it runs. It will get stuck if you fail to do this. It will take a few runs to map your home. This is normal. If it messes up the map, or you want to change where it goes, simply delete the map in the app and let it start over.
Convenience. I know that every day at 9am it will deploy, clean, empty itself, recharge, then finish cleaning. Having the ability to set the schedule myself and let it run is great. You can choose what day or days of the week it runs, what time, or use the app to deploy it yourself. It is also compatible with Amazon Alexa, so I can just tell her to send the Shark to clean the house.
PETS! We have three cats, with one being a long hair. Every day it finds and cleans up car hair. Every. Day. It really helps keep the house clean.
CONS
Pick up the junk on your floor! If your kids leave Lego pieces out, it will take them.
The magnetic strip that prevents it from going near certain pieces of furniture or into certain rooms works, but there isn’t enough of it. Do a little online shopping and get more, as well as extra brushes and internal filters.
Buy door stoppers. It regularly gets trapped in the bathroom. It bumps the door part way closed then completes the task while vacuuming and closes the door completely. I get a text message telling me it’s trapped shortly thereafter. A simple door stopper fixed the problem.

I have heard bad things about "robot vacuums". I like this one for the price and the features. Works really well for us. It mapped our house after three tries. We have it set on a schedule. It does hardwood and carpet very well. We love it. The app that runs it is awesome and keeps us informed. We will purchase a second for our upstairs.
. Cons' it tends to run into everything. It corrects itself most times. It has got stuck on cords.

Really more of a robotic sweeper than a vacuum unless you set it to max on the app. For households with multiple smallish dogish members of the family that have hair and don't shed, the shark works great. It will do a decent job on hardwood floors and an adequate job on low pile area rugs. Works best if set to maximum and i haven't found a way to create a schedule that includes the maximum vacuum setting, so that's kinda a bummer. It's kinda noisy (especially in the max setting) but not as noisy as most of the vacuums that I've owned. You won't want it working while your trying to sleep. If you have pets or kids that could leave behind "messes" of one kind or another on the floor (or worse the rug) you wouldn't want it running unattended TRUST ME! Love the self empty and recharge&resume features! Best robot vac for the dollar at the time i bought it.

I am happy with this. I have used it twice and vacuums fine. The first time was without the app. The second time with the app it missed some rooms and did not map correctly, so will try again. On the good side, it was quieter than I expected and had no trouble with the fringe on my area rug. it also did a good job under my couch and under the bed.
They don't tell you that you have to put it where you have 3 feet on either side and 5 feet in front of it. I have an open floor plan so was limited in where I could put the base. Also for the app to work you need to be on a 2.4 gHz network, and I had to take an old phone to isolate my U-verse signal to the 2.4 gHz network on my U-verse router to get the app to work. You also have to ensure there is adequate light in any room you want it to run.

I almost bought a vacuum robot with automatic dirt disposal from a different brand. That robot vacuum is also great to run on the carpet because all our bedrooms have carpet. When I checked the price I changed my mind. I didn't want to spend $1400 for a robot vacuum. I did research and watched the reviews about the comparison between this shark robot vacuum and the other brand. I'm happy I decided to buy the shark vacuum. My house has shaggy carpet and also thick carpets. This robot runs smoothly and pickup dirts, hair and tiny pieces. I was shock. I prepared to return this robot if I wasn't happy with the results. The mapping zone is also great. I can run the robot to a specific room. To be honest, this robot doesn't replace the Dyson v8 cordless vacuum that I have. But this robot helps me to clean the floor tremendously. I have dogs and they always bring dirts when they go inside. I let it run the robot every single day. I also setup the schedule so the robot automatically runs itself. Another thing that I like it has a sucking option. If it goes on hardwood floor I setup on normal but if it goes on the carpet I setup on max. When the job is done or the trash bin inside the robot is full, it automatically goes to the base and dispose all the dirts that have been collected. If the job is not done yet the robot will continue to clean the floor after dispose the dirts. It's satisfying seeing how the robot does such a thing!

Got it at Xmas time when on sale, we have had no problems. Been using for about a month and provides good vacuum coverage and cleaning. Took a few runs for it to properly map area we wanted covered. Automatic empty is awesome. No fuss no dirty hands. Great at current price. Look up vacuum wars on YouTube for good review and to see it in action, helped me make my decision.
