Smart vacuum!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This shark works great. I can get in tight places and never gets stuck. My home always feels clean after it runs. Sometimes app has problems communicating with the device, but it doesn't happen often.

Shark-iQ Robot xl RV1001
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark iQ Robot is nice unit, but the amount of noise it makes just isn’t worth compared to iRobot Roomba units.

Leaves a lot to be desired
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark IQ RV1001AE does not work as well as we hoped. Its suction isn't anywhere near as strong as a Roomba s9+ that we tried (though it is a lot cheaper, of course). On the bright side, perhaps as a result of the lesser suction, the Shark has much less trouble going over rugs, even those lightweight bathroom rugs. We have a lot of pet hair, and the Shark does not handle it particularly well, especially on rugs. Something to watch out for -- at one point, I discovered that the unit was badly clogged with hair, so it must have been picking up almost nothing for some time before that. There was no indication from the unit that there was any problem. Setting up the wi-fi was frustrating. The instructions specify that it will only work on a 2.4 GHz network, but seem to indicate that it will work on a mixed 2.4/5 GHz system. I could not get it to work until I specified different names for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and then it would connect to the 2.4 GHz network. It seems like this model cleans in a nice, systematic pattern for the most part, rather than just bumbling around randomly. That is appealing, but maybe also a weakness to some extent because it seems to miss substantial areas. After a dozen or so cleaning runs, the Home Map still did not have all parts of the house. The Recharge and Resume feature (in which the unit will clean until the battery runs down, go back and recharge, and then continue with the cleaning) does not work properly. One problem with it is that it can only clean for a little less than two hours (on "max") and takes about four hours to recharge, so to actually do the whole house would take quite a long time. What's worse, though, is that there is what I assume is a bug that makes it go back to recharge when the battery is only down to about 50%. So it will clean for maybe an hour, go back to recharge for two hours or so, and then go back out and clean some more. The second time out it did continue cleaning until the battery was almost out. I didn't let it go beyond that, because most of a day had already passed by that point. One thing that seems very appealing about this model is that it can build a map of your house, and then you can tell it to clean particular rooms. Unfortunately, the mapping is not really ready for prime time. (The same was true of the Roomba s9+, by the way.) One time I watched it as it was trying to return to dock to empty its dust bin. It didn't take a direct route or even a reasonably direct route, but followed the wall around through seven rooms before it finally found the docking station. You wouldn't know it from the day's cleaning map, which looked perfectly reasonable. It might be related to the fact that the overall Home Map had a weird feature, showing that it really messed up its location at some point. There are several weaknesses in the phone app, which hopefully they will fix. One annoyance is that cleaning always starts in "normal" mode, so you have to remember each time to set it to "max" (if, like us, you want as much cleaning power as possible). The Elapsed Time shown is usually not correct. I'm not sure just what it is doing; it seems like it resets every so often. When you look at the app after being away from it for a while, it takes maybe 10 or 15 seconds to show the correct current status. During that time it is still showing the status from the last time you looked at it, but there is no indication that it is not current. You just have to watch it until something changes (usually the percent battery charge). And 10 or 15 seconds seems like a long time when you're just staring at it waiting for something to change. There's also quite a lag sometimes; it will still be showing "returning to dock" after it is already back at the dock, and maybe even after it has already left the dock again.

Great price, poor at the details
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Returned mine. Pro: The price is great compared to the roombas. It seemed to be competent at vacuuming. Cons: 1. Charge time is 4 hours! So if your house is large enough to require the recharge and resume function total time is 6 hours. 2. Bagless sounds great, but dust flies when you empty the base. Also, I had to manually remove dog hair from the clean base. 3. Shark doesn't have "no go" zones, you use magnetic barrier tape. My robot pushed through it. 4. After 18 hours our map still wasn't completed, which led to... 5. The shark lost wi-fi and the only way to restore it was to delete the robot from the app. Since the map hadn't completed, it was lost. Sometimes it couldn't find the dock. It's a great price, but it doesn't handle the details well. I was running it all day on weekends, and as often as possible during the week to build the map, and we failed there. It pushed through the barrier tape and spilled the dog's water. Got stuck under the treadmill and an ottoman. This was supposed to make my life easier...

GREAT product but BEWARE!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Robot and love it! I decided to get a second for my first floor. I purchased the 2nd unit from Best Buy. It advertised that I bought the RV1001AE. When I picked up the product, it looked the same, but the way you empty the canister was the old (and awful IMHO) version. When I returned it today, we realized that the one I was given was the older version.. the R101AE. After an hour with the manager, they realized that shark printed the sku and label on the bottom of the box with the wrong model number! So Shark sold the old model to Best Buy. Long story short. If you bought this from Best Buy recently, the model on the box should say RV1001AE. In addition, when you want to empty the canister, the black piece should lift off the back (not come out from the side). Shark knows about this issue, but clearly didnt fix it!! Just be careful not to spend the money on the older model, but paying for the newer one that performs as advertised.

Waste of money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Shark IQ robot with self-empty base directly from the manufacturer, but feel it's necessary to leave a review where I can because I had searched for input through Kohl's and other stores first. In a word, worthless. The concept is great, but the machine can't find its way out of a paper bag. More specifically, it can't find its way out from under the bed. Or the couch. Or the corner. It needs light to "see" and for whatever reason, the "genius" engineers never thought to give it its own headlight. And when it DOES move, it doesn't pick much up and blows more dirt to the sides instead. Dirt that it will then leave because it can't clean the edges of the room. I set it up in my hallway, and it couldn't go over the edge of the carpet to go into the family room. I set it up at the end of my large kitchen, and it only ran through the family room. I blocked off the way to the family room, and it only ran through that end of the kitchen. I set it up in my bedroom, and it immediately went under the bed and lost its ability to move. I have 4 dogs and a cat - all of that "cleaning" and there was practily NOTHING in the bin. And let's talk about the 4 times I had to unwrap hair from the roller before it would keep going... isn't no hair wraps one of the big brags of this particular bot? Absolutely do NOT waste your money on this one.

Awesome Vac, horrible App
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark needs to scrap their App and start over. Complete garbage. Can not register vac from app, Can not schedule rooms from app (only whole house), mapping is horrible, naming rooms is horrible, can not create an account from app... Vac is great, cleans great, auto empty bin is great. Love my vac, app is horrible.

Buy a Roomba instead
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't buy this product - it is terrible. I had a Roomba and was a little irritated as some of it's quirks. I read a lot of reviews that said how great this Shark was. I was duped. This thing can NEVER find it's dock. It just runs to it and then backs out. Plus, its self cleaning brushes are not. It often stops and I have to clean dirt out of the brushes (I have pets, which is why I bought this mode). It is also not great about staying connected to my network; but that does not affect its other problems and is only a minor irritation.

Shark The Low iQ Robot
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Return the low iQ robot for the iRobot i7+. The shark takes too long to map the entire house. No multi level function. No sensor if it’s full of dirt and won’t detect it if full and go back to empty in dock. The only good thing is it sucks so much I have to return it for the iRobot.

Awful - after 30 runs, still hasn’t created a map
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Shark says that a MAJOR update was supposed to come out by the end of the month to fix all of the issues mentioned in these reviews. But no major update came out. No issues were fixed. I do not recommend this product!
