Residue on floor
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It did a thorough job of covering every inch it seemed of the apartment but it left a residue on the floors. It didn’t pick up any scuff which is ok but see the pic. Open floor concept with residue was not a good look. I also tried using with just water and same effect.

Save yourself the headaches
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You need to clean the house to get this thing to work, every once in a while it doesn’t recognizes the mop module, it loses the map and the configurations constantly making it impossible to use without reseting it and reconfiguring it again and again, it gets stuck on 1/4” floor transitions. Save yourself the headaches and keep away from this thing.

Awesome Robotic Floor Cleaner
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark AI Ultra™ 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop is an impressive and versatile home appliance for keeping our floors clean. Setup and Configuration Unboxing and setup of the robot and base are pretty easy with the included Quick Start Guide. While letting the robot get a full charge on the base, I installed the SharkClean® app onto my iPhone. The app guided me through adding the robot, giving it a name (R2), the configuration of Wi-Fi, and registration. I then prepared my floors for exploration by picking up cat toys and cords that could get in the way. After charging, I used the app to tell R2 to explore and make a map of my floors. My floors are a mix of carpeted rooms, wood floors, and throw rugs on wood floors, with a few thresholds. R2 used a half-hour to explore the house. It handled all floor types and thresholds without a problem, then returned to the base. The app notified me exploration was done and asked me to give names to the rooms. In this case, the names are limited to "Room" and a number. After identifying the six rooms, the app asked me to identify the zones with carpets, high-traffic, and no-go zones. Zones can be sized, rotated, and shaped as needed. Time to Clean I selected a carpeted room for the first cleaning and carpet verification. A single tap on the room in the app, then a tap on the CLEAN button, and R2 played a couple of tones as it rolled away from the base. The app displays an estimated time for the cleaning. R2 made two passes over the carpet in the room in under ten minutes and then returned to the base. The base sucked the contents out of R2's dust bin. With this successful first run, I sent R2 off to do the rest of the house. With a little over 800 square feet of floor, halfway through the task, R2 returned to the base to get cleaned out, then returned to finish the job. Emptying the base dust bin is an easy process. The dust bin slides out from the side of the base with a push of the release button on the top of the base. Holding the dust bin over a trash can and pressing a release button on the bottom will drop the lid and empty the contents. The next assignment for R2 was to spot-mop my kitchen floor. The self-empty dust bin in the robot can be removed by squeezing two releases and pulling the container out. I filled the vac & mop dust bin with water to the water line and added the included cleaning solution to the next line. A fill cap clicks tightly into place, and a mop pad slides onto the bottom of the bin. I then inserted the bin into the front of R2 with a secure click. With R2 back on the base, I selected the Spot tab in the app, dragged the floor map to the area I wanted to be mopped, and tapped the ULTRACLEAN button. R2 accepted the assignment and rolled off to clean the floor. For mopping, R2 made two passes over the area - with a full spin and a slight move, and repeated till the entire area was done. It seemed R2 had some difficulty finding its way back to the base. It entered the wrong room and kept bumping against the door. I think it got dizzy from all the spinning. I picked it up, placed it in the room with the base, then selected return to base. R2 complied, and I removed the cloth mop pad for cleaning. Aside from R2 getting confused after mopping, I am happy with the unit and how it cleans the floors. I'm impressed with how it deals with corners and moving around chairs. I still have to deal with stuff a little too big for it to handle, such as cat food pellets, but overall it does a good job. If it gets confused again after the next mopping task, I'll check with Shark support and see if they have a firmware update. Features • LIDAR radar for sensing locations • Self-empty dust bin for dry vacuuming • Vac & mop 2-in-1 dust bin for mopping and vacuuming • Two cloth mop pads • Bottle of VACMOP™ cleaning solution • Removable dust filter in the robot dust bin • Removable self-cleaning brush roll • SharkClean® app for Apple and Android devices • Voice control with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa • Robot battery indicator lights • Base indicator lights • Manual and scheduled cleaning • Classify zones as carpets, high-traffic, no-go • Explore mode for mapping • Map editing • Base docking tower with HEPA filter and removable dust bin • Remote control of the robot with the SharkClean® app

||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just didn’t work. I loved it when I bought it. Within few days, it started throwing tantrums. Didn’t do anything. If you select a room start cleaning using app, it will go few feet ahead and then go back to the Deck. When you check in history, you will see a weird map. I exchanged that one for new one. It did the same. All three attached images are from history for same map.

Feature-packed robot vacuum!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 3rd Shark Robot Vacuum, so I do have some experience using different Shark robot vacuum models. This Shark robot vacuum is the best one I have used yet as it has the most features and does a great job at vacuuming. This vacuum really has all of the features you could ask for, especially with the ability to mop and vacuum at the same time or use it as just a vacuum with auto-emptying capability. I am very happy with this device. It has great suction and is a powerful vacuum, does a good job at vacuuming all throughout rooms, comes with a self-empty bin, and includes an attachment that allows for mopping and vacuuming at the same time. This is my first time using a Shark Robot Vacuum with mopping capability, so I wasn’t sure of what to expect with that feature. This robot did a good job at mopping our kitchen floor. It didn’t use too much water or get the floor too wet and it did a good job at mopping the whole floor. It is also really nice that it vacuums and mops at the same time, so it picks up debris before going over that spot with the mop. I will say that while the mopping feature is a nice feature, it does require more manual work than just emptying a dust bin and cleaning filters on occasion like is the case with the vacuuming. You do have to fill up the mopping attachment with water and cleaning solution and once the mopping is done, you will have to clean the mop pad and empty debris from the vacuuming. When the mopping attachment is in place, the robot cannot empty into the self empty bin. Also, while I think this did do a good job at mopping, if you have anything really stuck onto your floor or hard to get up, you likely would need to apply some pressure to that with a mop to get it up. I did not have anything to test that on, but I would assume that would be the case since this does not apply pressure to the floor like you can with a regular mop. But overall, the mopping function is a great added feature! The most important part to me with this robot vacuum is the vacuuming functionality. This device has great suction for picking up all kinds of debris and it does a great job at covering every part of a room, including under furniture. You can have it vacuum the whole house or it can be sent to specific rooms or even specific spots which is great. The self-emptying bin is also a great feature that I love having. The self-emptying bin has a lot of capacity, so you don’t have to empty it often. It is also easier to get to than having to remove a small dust bin from the robot itself which I had to do with my first Shark robot vacuum. I’m a big fan of the self-emptying feature as it makes this robot very low maintenance and hassle free. The reason why I took off 1 star for this device is because of the Shark app. Throughout my use of Shark robot vacuum’s, I have encountered various bugs and glitches with the app and occasionally with the vacuum’s themselves. Recently, the Shark app would forget my login a few days after last use, so I would have to keep logging in each time I wanted to use it. I think that was fixed in a recent software update though. I have also had the app completely glitch out and lose my home map which required re-mapping my home to fix. Ultimately, I think Shark needs to work on quality control for their app as I have encountered various issues over time that can be frustrating. They do seem to be proactive in fixing issues that I have reported to them, but that still doesn’t take away the frustrations that these issues have caused in multiple instances. I am also not a fan of the way this unit maps in the Shark app. My first Shark robot vacuum would map the house and show rooms as even rectangles. For rooms that had items in the floor or in the way of getting all the way to the wall, the map would show those items but would still show the room as an even rectangle. The map created by this unit is not even. If there is a big piece of furniture on the wall in a room, the robot maps it as if that area where the furniture is isn’t even a part of the room, which is just weird (I have included a screenshot of our home map with white spots circled in red where part of the room is missing due to furniture being there). I wish this would map like my original unit did, it made much more sense and showed rooms as even rectangles which is how it should look. Overall, this is a great robot vacuum and I would recommend it to others. While I have had some issues and glitches experienced with the app recently and in the past, most of the time the main functions for this device work well. It does a great job at vacuuming and the mopping functionality with this device is a great added feature.

Great little helper with floor duties
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of my favorite things to do is not vacuum, and these past few days I have had the pleasure of using this Shark AI Ultra vacuum to do just that. To be honest, this is my fourth Shark Robot vacuum that I have had and every time they keep improving over the previous generation. The first one I had did not have any smarts, it just bounced around randomly and would eventually clean the entire area somehow. Now we have a model that you can make a map of your house and you can direct it to go somewhere and avoid other places in the app without having to use magnetic boundary strips. Shark has come a long way in that short amount of time, and I am impressed. Still, I think this robot lacks a few features that other brands may have, but I am ok with that. The LIDAR navigation is good, and it will avoid most obstacles that are higher than a few inches, it will still get caught up on shoes or my dogs food bowl. Setting a no-go zone in the app I can avoid the dog bowl, but not shoes since my kids will leave them wherever they happen to take them off, so you do have to be vigilant with picking up small items before setting the little robot off to do its thing. Setting up the robot in the Shark app is very easy and you do have to charge it for a few hours before you can set it off to make a map of the floor plan of your house. The charging station now includes a landing pad that sits under the base and a pad for the robot to rest on. I am not quite sure why Shark has included the landing pad, but you can choose not to use it if you don’t want to. UPDATE: I believe the pad is there so you can keep the robot in mopping mode all the time and the base will protect the floor from the mop pad. Also, in the app you can set the name of your rooms, this allows for you to use google or Alexa to send the robot to clean a room if you use the default names in the app. I was not able to get my robot to be recognized by either device, but my previous Shark IQ robot does work this way. I am reaching out to Shark for assistance with this and I hope to have it resolved. Another feature of the app is to set up high traffic zones and as I mentioned before, the no-go zones to avoid things that the robot may get stuck on. The app does allow for multiple robots which is great for when you have multiple floors in your home, you can just easily toggle between your little guys and send them off. The map also offers a history of cleaning from the last 30 days, and if you dive deeper into those days, you can see an actual map or maps of where the robot went. In the box Shark has included the base station that will hold up to 60 days of dust, a self-empty dust bin (vacuuming), a Vac& Mop dust bin (mopping), an extra side bristle, and two mopping pads that are washable. I have to mention that attaching the mop pad is very cool to do, there is a little plastic channel on the bottom and the mopping pad has a cord on the end that routes in the channel and Velcro will hold the flat part down. The nice feature about the mopping mode, it that it will also vacuum up dust before it mops it, so you don’t have to vacuum beforehand. However, it will not self-empty with the Vac & Mop dust bin on, but it will go back to the docking station and charge facing the opposite direction, so there are two separate points of charging. Another innovative feature of this device is the little “edge clean” feature that is on the left side of the robot, it will do an edge clean after the clean pattern is done for the room and this blows air on your baseboards and is supposed to dislodge dust from there to allow the robot to suck it up. A few odd things I have noted on the cleaning pattern is that it will not clean along the wall that the base station is placed on. No matter what I did, reset robot, remapped the area, etc., it would not go within about a foot from the wall that the base was against. Every other room it will clean the full room. Another thing was the cleaning pattern was sometimes random and the robot would do part of the room, then dart diagonally across the room and start cleaning in a different area. This did not affect the overall performance since the entire room will get cleaned, just an odd thing I noticed. The mopping feature is nice to have with my hard floors. Shark includes a small bottle of the mop cleaning solution, and you fill up the water reservoir to the water line and the remainder of the solution. As the robot moves with the mopping pad on it will use sonic mopping that moves the pad back and forth to help scrub the floor. I found that this works fairly well but will not get stuck on gunk from the floor, but I don’t think anything automated out there would either. Cleaning the mop pad is easy, I just hand wash it and it comes out clean, but you can toss it in the washing machine if you like since they are durable. Right now, I keep this robot strictly in mopping mode, and I let it do its thing every day on my floors. This has helped greatly with keeping the floors clean between the two kids and two dogs. I have not noticed a huge hair build up on the brush roll, but a few pieces here and there get tangled on it. Shark does make some good products and in the past the customer service has been great so you can buy with confidence.

Posted .Hi PatrickP,
Thank you for sharing your feedback about the Shark Matrix Plus 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop. We’re sorry to hear that it hasn’t been meeting your expectations, especially with the clogging, mopping performance, and difficulties handling pet hair. This is not the experience we aim to provide for our customers.
To improve its performance, we recommend ensuring the brush is securely attached and that the filters, dustbin, and brush rollers are cleaned regularly. For optimal mopping results, using the appropriate amount of cleaning solution and checking the mop attachment for proper alignment can make a significant difference.
If the issues persist, our Robot Support team would be happy to assist you with troubleshooting or explore other options to resolve this. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at 1-888-228-5531.
Your satisfaction is very important to us, and we appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue to improve. Thank you for choosing Shark.
Kind regards,

Shark
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Today we're reviewing the Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop with XL HEPA Self-Empty Base and Matrix Clean. What we like: - Self-emptying! The robot has a tiny debris collection bin. Once filled, the machine travels back to its charging station and empties itself into a larger bin. This allows you to run the robot several times before you have to dump anything into the trash. - Cartography The first time you let this vacuum loose it makes a map of your living space. You can delineate different rooms and spaces, such as living room or den. After you've created all your rooms, you can send the robot to clean only the rooms you choose. In addition, you can create no-go zones. These areas will be off-limits for the vacuum. This is great for avoiding rugs when using the mop function or to avoid a tangle of audio-visual cables behind the tv stand. - Mopping Not only does the robot vacuum, but it can also mop! The mop attachment has a reservoir to hold water/cleaning solution. There's also a washable pad that acts as the mop. I admit that I was skeptical about this feature at first, but it actually does a pretty good job. What we think could improve: - Mopping There's a small price for utilizing this feature. You have to switch out the dust collecting compartment with the mopping compartment. This presents the issue of where to store one when using the other. Our mop-able floor areas do not make up a lot of square footage, so after two whole-house moppings we still have more than half a reservoir of cleaning solution. Also, while the mop attachment does have a dust collection bin, it is not possible for the dock to empty the contents of the bin. It must be emptied by hand. This process is a little clumsy. Expect to get your hands wet and dirty from the mop pad and the likelihood a good portion of the dirt/dust/hair will miss the trash can. We thought it would've been nice if a tiny brush was tucked away to help wipe out the collection bin. - The App We find the app to be a little cumbersome at times. Making no-go zones for rugs is simple enough, but pinpointing the exact spot for a small rug, like a doormat or small area rug at the kitchen sink, can be difficult. We realized we didn't have one set properly and somehow deleted the whole map trying to edit the rug's location. We would also like a little more control over the robot once it starts a cleaning session. Say you tell it to clean only the living room. It finishes to your liking and you decide you'd like it to mop the kitchen. You stop the robot to switch out the proper components. Now you turn it back on, but you can't give it any instructions other than to go back to the charging dock. To think about before buying: - Space Shark recommends quite a bit of open space around the charging dock. Several feet to either side and in front. Understandably, there needs to be some space to allow the robot to line up with the dock, but this can be challenging in smaller homes. The dock is also a bit tall, making it difficult to hide under a console or side table. We have found that the extra space suggested on either side of the dock isn't nearly as necessary as the space directly in front. Our Shark is hidden behind our tv stand, which is angled in a corner. There's less than a foot of free space on either side and we have had no issues whatsoever. The challenge with it being tucked away though, is that emptying the dust bin requires us to slide the tv console out of the way.

Better Than Previous Robot But Still 'Meh'
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a neat freak. If there is a cleaning gadget, I probably own it. I have multiple vacuums, all with different uses, as well as an entire collection of quick disposable dust/mop options. I have always been enamored with the *idea* of robot vacuums but have been continually disappointed. Unfortunately, the Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop with XL HEPA Self-Empty Base and Matrix Clean Navigation (Whew! Say that 5 times fast), while better than any of my previous robot vacuums, it is still not good enough for me to justify the price/work. Wait, did I say that the robot was work? Isn't the robot supposed to lead you to a life of luxury where your house is spotless and you can eat bonbons all day? Yeah, no. The Shark AI Ultra (I named it Rosie), needs a lot of work to set up properly. It needs supervision it would seem from my testing, and whoo boy does this thing clog/need emptying and/or cleaning regularly (and I've only had it for a little over a week!). The whole kit was easy enough to set up. The robot is already put together, you just need to attach a single 'corner brush' (this is a problem in and of itself - more on this later). The base station is also all ready to go, just plug her in and place her on the robot/base station mat. Put the two together and let the robot charge up over night. While it is doing that, you can download the Shark app to control your wee cleaning beastie! The next day, I turned Rosie loose on the first floor of my house, about 1500 sq/ft, and let her find her way. I cleared the cat toys up and any stray cables that might throw her for a loop, but upon examination of the map that she recorded, she missed A LOT of places in my house! I didn't have the robot try again because I now really wanted to see how Rosie did with vacuuming. I set 'her' off to do her thing and went to sit and monitor the whole situation from the comfort of my easy chair. I was dismayed that within 10 minutes of setting out, I had to come and extricate her from the dreaded 'open corner of floor'. Wait, what? Yup, the little robot got caught, had a hiccup, program freeze, whatever just trying to round the corner on tile. I waited for quite a while assuming that the little robot would be able to back up, use its wheel lift ability, or just bully on through but after a minute of it going crazy, I felt sorry for it and gave it a nudge. I decided to NOT just let it do its thing while I sat (which is kind of the point of these things), but to instead follow it and make sure there weren't any other hang-ups. There weren't any other 'hang ups', but I did notice some things that I wasn't too happy about. My previous attempts with vacuum robots often had the robot get stuck under my furniture which has some pretty good clearance for many of the pieces but not all. Rosie doesn't have the problem of getting stuck, she has the problem of not even trying to go under the furniture she can make it under, or if she does go under, she doesn't clean under there and just makes a beeline to the other side! This was a big issue with the coffee table in the middle of the living room. There is a ton of room for this robot to go underneath, and I WANT it to clean the rug under there because it is a favorite sitting place for my cat and therefore is a repository of fur, litter, nails, and whiskers. I'm going to attach a photo to this review but I don't know if you will be able to make it out. You can see the treads go right under the table diagonally without stopping. All the other places it vacuumed were in nice tight rows (I'll post a picture of that as well). I also noticed that Rosie didn't go into some areas that she could easily maneuver in and cut corners around some furniture and appliances. On top of that, the robot has a 'corner brush' but it is only on one side. Therefore you would assume that the robot would pass by walls and corners with the brush side towards the wall. You COULD assume that, but you would be wrong. More than half the time, the brush was towards the open side AWAY from the wall/corner and sweeping nothing extra into the path of the vacuum. Perhaps the robot needs two brushes, or is programed to clean they way I would think it would? As for mopping, I only tried it once and was again less than impressed. I had spilled a bit of sauce from a meal on the tile floor and thought that it would make for a great test. So I filled up the reservoir with cleaning fluid, swapped out the modules and let Rosie go at it in the kitchen (which I had delineated via the app since the house is open concept and there really isn't a separator). At first I thought Rosie had done a decent job because the spill looked like it was gone and the mop pad had an obvious stain from the sauce, but later that evening my wife was walking barefoot in the kitchen and noticed that the floor was sticky there. Sure enough, upon closer inspection, there was still a sheen of dried sauce. So much for ultra-vibrations cleaning up dirt. One thing that I will say is cool is that I like how the robot will stop and head back to the base station when it is full up, the basestation will suck out all the nasties, and then the robot will resume its job. Doing the first floor of my house took two passes from the robot and it almost seemed like the robot split it pretty evenly. I don't know if that is programed in or if it just so happened that it filled up at the half way point. Once Rosie was done with the first vacuuming of the floor, I checked out the storage bin in the Base Station and was surprised how much the robot was able to pick up. While I did let things get a *bit* dirtier than normal, it was still pretty clean prior to turning Rosie loose. That little robot has a lot of suction for such a small device and that was having it set to 'medium' suction. That being said, you WILL NOT get '60 days' of hassle free cleaning from this robot unless you have a 250 sq/ft apartment with no pets and no windows/doors to let in dust. Also, after seeing how much was in the storage bin (which was absolutely filthy), I checked the two filter bays in the Base and the storage/filter for the robot. Just after one complete pass of the first floor, the filters were darn near clogged with the exception of the one just below the storage bin, which looked like it hadn't had any air pass over it. Maybe this was the problem. Perhaps there is something wrong with the Base Station air flow, but the Robot filter and the little wedge over it were clogged with dust and fibers. The main filter to the side of bin in the Base, which is a really weird short tube of filter in a big bowl of a bay, was brown and there was a ton of dust coating the side of that bay. Shouldn't more of that stuff end up in the bin and not stay on the device or in auxiliary areas of the system? I can see me having to clean out the base and the robot and that taking almost as much time as I 'saved' by having a robot vacuum instead of doing it myself. All in all I don't feel like the Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 will end up saving me enough time and effort (especially when I still have to clean areas that the robot won't seem to go AND I have to babysit the thing), to justify its purchase. MAYBE if I had a smaller place with absolutely flat surfaces, and furniture that sat way high above the floor, then maybe it might be worth it, but then it also would be a breeze to clean myself and I wouldn't have even bothered to get this thing.
