    CPO Sharky Robot Vac

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My husband and I had thought about getting a robot vac for a while. I guess he thinks that me swiffering and mopping 1175 sq ft at my age (69) is too much. I'll start by saying that the robot vac, IMHO, will never do as good a job as I will; it doesn't fit under the TV stand, the couch, or the bigger chairs in the living room so I swiffered under them today. When the Shark - AI Ultra 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop arrived, I had it set up in a short time. I had the most trouble with setting up in the app, and I am not totally illiterate when it comes to technology. When the instructions say to press the left button for 5 seconds, it doesn't specify the clean or the dock button depending on which way you're looking at the vac. Silly, I know, but that's just me. Anyway, I finally got it set up after 2-3 tries pairing it with the wifi. I mapped the house after picking up everything I wanted to have it clean under (mats, dining room chairs, all my yarn bags, etc.) and the mapping appeared to do quite well. It took about 30-45 minutes to map. A couple days later I did the first vac. Some areas seemed to be missed in the kitchen, and it wasn't able to get on both sides of the toilets, I didn't get everything off the floor in the walk-in closet either. It returned to dock one time during the vacuuming and emptied then went back on it's way. I did the mopping until today. As I said in the beginning, it will never to as good of a job as I do, but when I have my rotator cuff repaired in June, it will do a heck of a lot better than I will be able to do for the six weeks following surgery, maybe longer depending on my rate of getting movement back in my shoulder. The mopping did pretty well on the laminate flooring but not as well on the tile. Some spots in the kitchen looked like they were missed altogether, another spot was just too tough for it to scrub. In the Master bath, it did not do a very good job right in front of the toilet, but it did a fairly good job getting up the dirty spots where the dog dribbles urine after going out before bed and dribbles as she's jumping onto the bed at the foot. We weren't sure those would come up at all, but pretty good indeed. And other than missing a small area of spots in the litter room (2nd bedroom) it did a pretty good job there too, although it didn't pick up the litter boxes and vac and mop under them like I do. Overall, I'm glad that I'll have it post-surgery, and I may do a deeper cleaning a few times a year. Other than that, it can do the job for me so I can spend more time knitting or crocheting (hahaha)! I would definitely recommend this product for people who have a difficult time with vacuuming and mopping or swiffering and mopping due to limitations in range of motion, arthritis, disabilities, etc.

This is absolutely the latest and greatest. Setup was no problem whatsoever. The app is easy to follow and self directed. It will need several hours to fully charge up initially which was to be expected. Once set up is completed then you run the mapping diagram and have Shark map out one or multiple rooms. You are able to also select what level of vacuum you want the unit to run on. You also can set up no go zones if you want the unit to avoid a specific area. I do run the unit on the highest vaccum level and it does an outstanding job. It will then return to the dock and self empty which does not require bags which is a great feature. Where I was skeptical but the most surprised was the mopping feature. The Shark did an outstanding job on my floors and I also mapped out where the rugs are so it focused on hardwood areas. You have two cartridges to select from. One for just vaccum and another for combination of vaccum and moping. So it can do both at the same time. You add water and Shark cleaning solution and let it do its thing. The only "negative" is, it is a bit noisy but again not shocked by this and there are far more positives with this vaccum that it is easily overlooked. I highly recommend this Shark. It absolutely delivered as advertised.

I can’t believe I spent $549 on sale for this thing. The map is so so and I can’t even regularly connect to the robot. From the app I have been unable to get it to clean as it continues to disconnect. The Wi-Fi is blazing fast here so that’s not the issue. For all the hype in the product demo video this sure is a farce. This is going back and I’m getting the OG, Roomba.

Things I like… Works with the phone so I do not need to be in the same room to start/stop it. The options on the cleaning solution smells good and price is reasonable compared to other cleaners. You can have it spot clean or just do certain rooms. It avoids stairs. It’s quiet and after a couple of uses the dogs ignore it/get out of its way. Used everyday or every other day my house has way less dust and dog hair. I like that I can vacuum or vacuum/mop at the same time. Things I don’t like… the cleaning skips around it does everything it can reach but not in a normal order. The battery does not last long enough to do all of the top floor of my home without recharging. If you’re particular about your clean you will still want to mop the floors yourself every now and then. Friends have said it has made pet messes worse by spreading the mess throughout the house. I only run it when I am home so I have not experienced that personally. Overall… I would buy it again.

I am beyond pleased with this 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop. Shark created the ultimate self-cleaning, portable, programmable, mappable vacuum and mop machine with this product. It is so nice waking up to a freshly vacuumed main floor every morning with very little work on my part. Simply set it up and let it do the work. The navigation system on this device is incredible. Once assembled and the mobile application is installed and paired, the machine will make a mapping run of the areas to clean and creates an actual map that can be edited with separate zones. My main floor has carpet in the living room and hard wood floors in the dining and kitchen areas. I was able to set up a carpet zone so that when I am using the interchangeable mop head, it stays off the carpet. I set up a schedule to run nightly while we are out of the main areas and it does a great job of vacuuming. It is very good about returning the base station once done. With pets, we have toys that we need to put away before cleaning, as well as any flat materials that it could encounter. The cleaning from the vacuum is surprisingly good for a smaller brush roll. It does empty itself upon returning to the base unit. We have pets and it handles the pet hair easily without collecting on the brush roll. The mopping function does a fantastic job, not leaving things extremely wet. Yet, it is clear where it has gone, leaving just the right amount of moisture in its path. It dries quickly and the floors looked great after cleaning. It comes with a small bottle of cleaning solution and it works very well. This is our second Shark Robot vacuum, but the sonic mopping function on this was a great addition and will become our main floor cleaner.

    Great little vacuum

Overall I can't say enough great things about this vacuum. I have owned other robot vacuums before and I was not impressed with them. I have four dogs and keeping up with all of the dog hair is a chore. I was very skeptical of this vacuum however, it did such a remarkable job that I couldn't believe my eyes. Let's talk about what makes this vacuum so great, number one the base (The plastic pieces that sit on the floor) have rubber on it so it keeps it from sliding on your hard floor. The actual charging dock, also sits on two little raised pieces so when the vacuum does go to the dock it doesn't slide around. That's just one little thing that makes this vacuum great. Once you set it up on the dock, download the app, and follow the on screen instructions. This is where it becomes not just a good vacuum but a great vacuum. So initially you let the vacuum go throughout the entire house, (Yes, even the parts that you don't want it to vacuum). Then after it completes that run, you can now set up rooms set up where you don't want the vacuum to run, for instance we don't want the kid's room getting vacuumed 'cause kids don't always pick up their toys. So after that is set up, then you set up carpeted zones so when it mops it knows where it needs to stop mopping. I initially thought it wasn't going to be a great vacuum just because of past experiences, but this vacuum does a phenomenal job at vacuuming and mopping. It keeps up with our four dogs and two cats like a champ. I can't say enough great thing about this vacuum. It's easy to set up, easy to use, and the self emptying makes it a breeze. Once a week we have to empty the bin but again we have four dogs.

Great option for Dry and Wet Robot Cleaning

This robot vac is a great option for both alternative to running a vacuum and a mop all in one. The box was neatly packed and organized and I found unboxing to be a painless process. Setup is fairly easy snap in a couple parts, connect the robot to wifi and charge it up on the self empty base. I've run it through on several cycles and the laser guided robot does a good job avoiding obstacles and not getting stuck on anything. Mopping mode is pretty easy just swap out the back cartridge fill it with some water and solution and send it on the way, with a cleanable and swappable microfiber scrubber pad. I found the mop to work as well as steam mop option I have and the cleaner leaves a nice aroma as well. The robot returns to the self empty base when it needs to empty or when it needs to charge the battery easily. The self empty base is very easy to attach and empty into the trash when it's full. I can tell a very noticeable difference when Ive run the robot compared to when I've skipped a day and have not. There is a nice app for android and ios that makes managing the robot easy as well as viewing a map of your home making dedicated cleaning areas or just putting the robot on a schedule to clean at regular intervals. Just watch out for this option if you have pets that like to make messes because one time running over one of those fresh will be enough to ruin your new toy. Overall very happy, Shark really out does it self in the robot vac industry with the self empty option and now adding a mop option as well.

A robotic mop/vacuum that works great.

This review is for the new Shark AI ultra-Robot vacuum & map with self-empty base. Let me start with I have four other robot vacuums from various brands. But haven’t got a new one in a few years. Man, oh man this thing is a huge upgrade. One powerful feature of this unit is the ability to map out your house. And then you can set up rooms/zones. This helps when you need to spot clean certain areas. On my first test run I picked the furthest room away from the base and to my surprise the vacuum made it there with ease and then went to work cleaning leaving no areas untouched. When cleaning the whole house (2,000 sqft) it does need to recharge but then gets right back to work. On to the mopping. You do need to change out the dust bin to one that holds water and the mopping pad. After that just pick what rooms you wish to mop from the list of rooms/zones you setup. You can even map out where you have rugs/carpet so it would mop them. I didn’t have high hopes for this feature as I have had two other robot mops that just didn’t work out for me. But this shark was not only easy to set up to mop but it also did a very good job. I am very happy with both the mopping and the vacuuming of this unit. With the shark app you can also set up scheduling. I have all my units start when no one is home. And thanks to it self-emptying I no longer have to clean it out every week. Only time will tell how often it will need to be done now. All in all I’m super happy with this unit and wish I would of upgraded sooner.

    Versatile Home Cleaning Automation Tool

This is an extremely useful and powerful tool for helping to automate your home cleaning. Being able to get vacuuming and mopping out of one device is just incredible. I have a 2 story home with the bottom floor being roughly 50% hardwoods and carpet and this is perfect. I have had robot vacuums in the past that I have used purely for vacuuming and then mopped the hardwoods myself. There are some automation things I would like to eventually see added to the app. A few things to note that are minor inconveniences that are easy to work around. First, there are 2 compartments to switch between: a self emptying vacuum only and a mop and vacuum combo. You'll probably switch between them regularly. Second, the combo compartment does NOT work with the self emptying feature. Would have been nice as the point of these robots in my mind is to really automate things around the house and require as little input as possible. Third, the app does not do well with scheduling things the way I want them. I would very much like to be able to schedule room by room cleanings so I can simply switch containers in the morning based on mop days vs vacuum days. All of that being said, I have found a routine that works great simply doing manual mop runs for the hardwoods on Tue/Thur with full vacuum runs Mon/Wed/Fri. Overall, excellent value and convenience.

Nice vacuum, but lost out to iRobot j7+

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It has been years since we invested in floor cleaning robots. We purchased one of the first, if not the original iRobot Roomba and floor mop when they came out many, many years ago. They worked great for a year until the batteries needed replaced and they were over $100 for just the batteries. This was years before Lithium ion batteries were in use in these types of devices. While in Best Buy a week ago, my wife said she would like to try one again so we purchased this model of Shark robot. After a week, we returned it for the iRobot j7+ and it was a great trade, so far. To hear the details of why we chose this route, please read on... Shark Pros: - Fairly quiet for a vacuum - Battery life was fair, not horrible. We have 1,700 square feet and the Shark would dump 4 times total and have to fully charge once during the cleaning of the entire area. - Self emptying worked well and it was easy to dump the canister. - Price was reasonable when compared to iRobot as the Shark would even mop if you wanted it to. - Mopping worked ok. Wasn't like mopping by hand, but it did a good job of picking up paw prints from the dogs on the tile floor. Shark Cons: - As some have stated in reviews, and the reason we returned it, was the mapping was absolutely horrible. You would set no-go zones and the Shark robot would absolutely not care that they were set, and go wherever it liked. Really annoying with Christmas tree, etc. - App is not what it could be - Firmware is not self updating. To update the firmware on the Shark Robot to see if it would fix our problem, we would have had to call Shark, have them troubleshoot, and roll the firmware out manually. This is the only electronics that I've ever seen where the firmware is not self updating. This leads me to believe that Shark is either nervous about their new firmware breaking/bricking devices, or their software development is not great, which I tend to believe due to the poor functionality of the no-go zones for the Shark. If we had purchased the cheapest Shark model, I would expect no-go zones to be buggy or non-existent, but not in one of the nicer models. - To mop, you must change out some components. Ideally this would all be built into the unit so nothing needs to be changed for the robot to mop. - 1 year warranty compared to 2 year on the iRobot j7+ We replaced it with the iRobot j7+ and after just 24 hours, here is why we like it better than the Shark: Pros: - Canister emptying works just fine - Due to the more advanced hardware on the iRobot, its obstacle avoidance is leaps and bounds better than Shark. We don't even need to set up no-go zones. The iRobot sees/senses an obstacle and simply goes around it. It started into our Christmas tree skirt, and immediately turned itself around and left that area. - Suction seems stronger, but it does make a bit more noise than the Shark. - The iRobot empties 4 times and recharges once fully doing the entire 1,700 square feet, so very similar to Shark there. - iRobot vacuum will supposedly send pictures or alerts when it detects an obstacle that wasn't there prior, to ask if it should be avoided or not. - 2 year warranty iRobot Cons: - A bit noisier than the Shark, but I assume more powerful so not really a con. - More expensive than the Shark - No mopping capability on this model, and didn't want to spend another $300-400 for that capability in the iRobot as it really wasn't that important to us anyway.

We just moved to a one level home that is entirely hard wood floors. With 2 dogs this has been a god send for us, especially my back. One of our pups was a rescue and does not react well to the noise from vacuum cleaners, this model however does not bother him. Highly recommend.
