We'd love to advise you that the this unit has a suction control slider to the bottom of the handle where you can increase or decrease suction, this should definitely fix your problem. I’ve used several other Shark Vacuums and they’re all pretty incredibly amazing machines. Would recommend to anyone who has hard-floors as well carpeted apartments! The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Deluxe does a very good job on my carpet and wood floors. The lift-away feature makes it convenient to reach high places, just wish it was a little more lightweight. Suction control switch is convenient and easy to use. Handle is long enough for a taller person, I am 5"8" and it is very comfortable for me.

I love the fact that the canister removes for easier maneuverability. But the cord is a little too short making it difficult to move around too much...and not a great idea that it attached to the handle so that when you need to remove and use the tools, you have to unwind the entire cord. The hose is very short and stiff. There were 2 tools missing from the sealed box, so I exchanged for another...missing again. I called the the manufacturer and they sent to me very quickly and without hassle.
