I really like the Shark products, but I really didn't care for this sweeper. I actually ended up returning it. It was not user friendly, and it was cumbersome trying to remove the parts to use as a portable hand-held sweeper. Very disappointed!

    Short Hose, Tips Easily.....great suction!

This is my 2nd Shark Navigator. Only replacing it because after 3 years, the release sensor broke (something I worried about when I got it). Read reviews for this one and thought the lift away was a cool idea and liked the under the appliance tool that came with it. I don't really need the lift away option, and it tips over easily because the hose is short and doesn't reach very far away from the canister. Fortunately, I have the extra long hose from my old Shark that I can hook on to this one to give me the length of hose that is easier to use. Also, the canister on my old Shark unlatches with one hand and holds more dirt. This one has the same release control that isn't an actual lever, but a sensor, I fear I may have the same issue. Because I didn't register the old one and can't find the Costco receipt from when I bought it, I opted to get a new one. Tried to register this one on the Shark website and nothing happens. Will have to call it in, I guess. Shark vacuums seem to be great as far as cleaning power, but put together strangely.......in my opinion.

What a waste of money. Roller keeps getting stuck, not from debris or thickness of carpeting. But because it was poorly made. Will not be repeating purchase with this brand.

    Powerful & Versatile

This vacuum is an inexpensive but versatile tool that should meet all your cleaning needs. The unit is lightweight and is easy to use. It's modular design and included attachments will handle any job in the home. The under-appliance attachment is handy, the turbo pet hair nozzle ran well for me and did not bog down. Even the brush attachment swivels to reach any angle. The lift-away unit is easy to handle for stairs and above-the-floor cleaning. Some design choices had good and bad sides. The floor nozzle is narrow, so it takes a few more swipes to cover an open area, but that means it can reach under cabinets and between furniture others might be too wide for. This unit is not flimsy by any means, but its light weight may not stand up to as much wear and tear over years. I think the light weight is worth it. One problem is the lobed design of the dust chamber creates pinch points in the cyclonic air flow where fibrous debris can build up and interfere with the air flow. A cylindrical design would be better.

    Perfect vacuum for small homes/apartments

After owning my Dyson for 7 years, it finally died. I loved it, but figured that vacuums have come a long way in that time, and figured I'd try a different brand. We have a 2500 square foot, 2 story house, with 3 kids, 2 long-haired cats, and 3 dogs (and each dog weighs over 110 lbs) - that's a LOT of pet hair. While this Shark really is a fantastic vacuum, it just doesn't fit our needs. 1. CON: The cord is ridiculously short. With my Dyson I could vacuum my kitchen, dining room, living room, family room, and about 90% of two first-floor bedrooms while it was plugged into one outlet. I could then plug it into one outlet on the second floor and vacuum the entire upstairs. With this Shark, I have to unplug the vacuum and plug it in elsewhere four times to vacuum just the first floor. 2. CON: The width of the cleaning path is comically narrow. It's a good 3" narrower than the Dyson was, which might not seem like much, but when you figure that's a 25% smaller cleaning path, it really makes a huge difference 3. CON: The dust container is VERY small, and awkward. With all our animals, I have to empty it at least four times to vacuum the first floor. You have to push a button at the bottom of the canister to empty it, so your hands get dirty, and you then have to push a button at the top of the canister, tip it upside down, and empty it from the top as well. It's very dusty and messy. With my Dyson, I could simply pull a "trigger" at the top, and the bottom flipped open; my hands were never near the dirt and dust. 4. PRO: The canister is removable to convert to a hand-held vacuum - PERFECT for doing stairs, drapes, etc. It is incredibly powerful, and one of the hose attachments even has a little "beater bar" - I love that accessory. 5. CON: It's somewhat top-heavy. When you put the handle upright, it always seems like it's going to fall over. You have to be really careful when using it as a canister vac too. When we get the vacuum out, one cat and two dogs come running. I'll take the canister off and use the hose with the brush attachment and vacuum them (the LOVE it), but I have to lay the canister on its side because it keeps falling over. I'm hoping that, as the hose gets more use, it won't be so stiff and that won't be a problem anymore. 6. CON: There is a little hook on the back of the handle to hold the cord up and away from the cleaning path while you're vacuuming, but the cord won't stay in there. It's not a deal-breaker, but I'm just not used to having to hold the cord to keep it away from the beater bar. 7. PRO: The power switch is somewhat like a rocker switch: one way is off, roll it to the first position and it does bare floors, roll it all the way and the beater bar starts up to do carpets. It's more convenient than my Dyson was, when I had to put the handle upright, bend over and turn a knob, then pull the handle back to switch from bare floors to carpet. CON: It works somewhat like a shop-vac. When you're vacuuming, air blows out of the front of the canister. It reminds me of the really old vacuums. CON: It comes with 3 attachments, but only two can be stored on the vacuum. PRO: This is an amazingly powerful little vacuum, far more powerful than my Dyson was when it died. I fully realize that I'm comparing this vacuum to my Dyson that cost well over double the price; that being said, if you have an apartment, a small house, or even a cabin, with maybe only one pet, this really would be an awesome vacuum and I would absolutely recommend it. I've only had it for a month; I'm actually considering keeping this vacuum upstairs for the kids to use in their rooms, and then buying another Shark with a wider cleaning path and longer cord for the first floor. I'm definitely sold on the brand (that's why I gave it 4 stars) but this particular model doesn't fully meet our needs.

Great vacuum! I love how it has the option not to have the rotating brush. We have rugs that require not using the rotating brush so this was really nice. It picks up things so much better compared to our old vacuum. A little tricky to figure out the wand, but not too bad. Overall a nice vacuum for a good price point. And we have a lab/golden that sheds so much, it picks up that hair well. The only thing is that it would be nice if it were a little wider, but being narrow is nice to get into small spaces.

It's expensive and for it's price you would expect it to be good at cleaning but it's not as good as you think. It leaves dust behind and you can get better ones for the price.
