    It's a keeper!

The suction on this vacuum is amazing, on my hardfloor it pulls in items probably 4"+ away from the vacuum head. The side suction is amazing too, the 90 degree angle where my baseboards meet with the floor look like I've wiped them clean with a cloth. My carpet is a medium pile and the headsize of the vacuum means more back-and-forth movement and more time vacuuming but the suction is good and it leaves more pronounced nap stripes on my carpet than my upright did, and the carpet feels fluffy and clean. I actually love the size of the vacuum head, I can fit it on both sides of my toilet, between the tub and the cabinet, as well as other somewhat tight spots around furniture and the fact it rotates is extremely helpful - you can insert a smaller section of the vacuum head into tight spots or rotate it around a furniture leg without bumping. It fits under the height of the bathroom and kitchen cabinets really well. The extra attachments are nicer than what I've gotten with an upright and I will see if the hardfloor dustmop is safe to use on the walls (my kid has asthma, I have to be thorough). The thought of being able to clean the ceiling and window blinds with the attachments makes me giddy (this is an almost impossible chore with an upright). The weight is tolerable and the best angle to hold it is with the arm down and hand relaxed, no need to 'battle' it or hold or push it like an upright. It will propel itself forward somewhat. I did purchase the stores 2-year warranty, which I will cancel since after reading the brochure I found out the manufacturer has a 5-year warranty. Bout time someone figured out the concept of a simple straw would make a great vacuum. It's a keeper!

Excellent stick vacuum, NOT an upright though...

I have owned a Dyson for the last 5 years, and although they claim they never lose suction, that doesn't mean they clean as well after 5 years as they did when they are new. I felt like my area rug was constantly dirty so I went on the hunt for a new vacuum. I saw in infomercial for the Shark Rocket and after seeing the great price coupled with excellent reviews on their other products I decided to try it. Setup was a breeze, just click a couple parts together and you are ready to start. The suction and cleaning power of this vacuum are outstanding. It is lightweight and fairly easy to maneuver. The cord is long enough that I can plug in at a central location on one floor and reach every room without having to unplug. The only big downside to this vacuum I found is that it is not an upright like the description says, it is a stick vacuum. I was wanting a vacuum that would stand on it's own when not in use. This one does not do that. One very minor gripe is that the canister is fairly small (which I expected) and the power cord is attached directly to it which means carrying the canister to the trash to empty also involves lugging the cord with you. Small complaint though. Ultimately I ended up exchanging it for a Shark Rotator because I wanted a true upright, but that in no way diminishes how impressed I was with the performance of this vacuum.

    Beats the Shark Rotator Pro

I bought the Shark Rotator Pro upright last week and returned it next day because it was SO heavy, hard to empty, and didn't propel itself on my plush carpet. This smaller, lighter unit seems just as powerful and works SO much better for me than the other Shark! The powered head is narrow, but instead of being a CON, it's a PRO, because it fits between chair legs and even in the narrow space between the toilet and bathtub. It propelled itself well on my carpet. It flattens down to go under the bed or the coffee table. The dust cup empties easily. It picks up dust along the edges of my kitchen floor. I wish it came with a multi-angle dusting tool like the Rotator Pro did, but that tool is available for $19.95 on the Shark website.

The product has been good so far. Maybe the only downside is that hair strands are very likely to be stuck near the vacuum head and have to be removed manually.

    Kudos from a Dyson owner

I think it's important to note that I own a Dyson ball vacuum. I think that's important because A) I paid a lot for that vacuum and B) I measure all other vacuums by it. We were looking for a quick-use vacuum to keep on the first floor, while the Dyson is always upstairs. I had owned a cordless vacuum and while they are really convenient, it isn't long before they can't hold a charge and start to lose suction due to their lack of power. Fortunately this Shark has a really long cord. So long, in fact, that I leave it plugged up in my central coat closet (which has an outlet) and the vacuum is able to reach every part of my 1st floor and most of the steps down to my basement without unplugging! The attachments it comes with are outstanding. There is a hardwood floor cleaner and a powered motor brush head. Both are perfect for what I need. In terms of suction, I think it performs at least as well as the Dyson at under half the cost.

A great Vacuum for a house with stairs

I saw the infomercial on TV from Shark for this vacuum and was very interested. However, I'm not one to order directly from the TV without getting to put my hands on it and touch it first. So, when I noticed that BestBuy was selling these, I went to check it out. I'm glad I made the purchase! I have carpeted stairs in my house and two dogs that shed profusely. So, I was looking for something light enough to maneuver up and down stairs, but that also had the suction and rotating bristles to actually pick up the hair. I must say, I have a very expensive Dyson Pet Vacuum, but I think this has just as much suction and picks up even more hair than my Dyson. Although that is just an anecdotal opinion, you can tell that I am very impressed! I only have 2 issues at this point: If you vacuum the entire house (as I did), the vacuum can begin to get a little heavy. After all, the motor is in your hands. Also, I had to empty the dirt tray about 7 times as I cleaned my house, and each time I got dirt on my hands. Not a huge deal, but it was a bit annoying. I understand its a give and take...if the tray was bigger it would be heavier, etc... I think this is a great deal. It rivals the much more expensive ultra-light vacuums, and in my opinion, outperforms them. If you have pets and stairs, this is a must!

great preformance for a handheld vacuum

I found this handheld vacuum to be easy to use. When I was unpacking the box it was like Christmas with all the great attachments. They even provide a bag to store the attachments. It is sturdy unlike other handhelds. The motor is powerful for the size and suction is amazing. I had just vacuumed a rug with another more expensive vacuum and was astounded by the amount of dirt that was picked up by the Shark Rocket. The self-propelled attachment is fantastic. It made vacuuming seem effortless. I love this vacuum!

Great stick vacuum for the price

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really wanted a Dyson stick vacuum but found this one on sale and it exceeded my expectations. It's light and easy to lift and maneuver and it's not terribly loud. We have 2 black labs and a lot of hard surface flooring that fills up with dirt and fur. This vacuum quickly picks up everything, but the canister fills quickly. I'm very impressed with all the different attachments it came with. I probably won't use it much on carpet because the canister fills up quickly and it's smaller so it takes longer to vacuum. However this vacuum will work great from floor to ceiling. It breaks down to small handheld vacuum with nice attachments to help vacuum furniture, hard to reach areas and vehicles.
