Shark does it again!

Unboxing and assembly: This is simple and straightforward. There is a quick-start guide printed right on the box flap inside the lid. The pieces are individually protected in paper packaging, and cardboard spacers hold everything in place. I appreciate that all the packaging is recyclable.
Performance: This vacuum does a great job cleaning floors right up to the baseboard, whether using the side of the vacuum head or head-on. I found that when encountering an area rug, I had to be careful. The vacuum head has good suction and pulls down close to the floor. There is a tendency to bump into the area rug edge and curl the rug instead of rolling up onto the rug for continued cleaning. This is where the suction control adjustment comes in handy. Suction power can be tailored to your circumstances using a rotating slider located just below the comfortable handle. Cleaning performance is good. It had no problem picking up loose threads and beads that had ended up in the carpet in my wife’s craft room.
Ease of use: The Shark Rotator Lift-Away upright has a swivel head that makes it incredibly easy to maneuver. The vacuum head fits easily under furniture and cabinet edges. The bright LED headlights make it easy to be confident you didn’t miss anything.
There is a three-position power switch: Off, Hard-Floor (brush roller low-speed), and Carpet (brush roller full-speed). One switch controlling the function of the brush roller is very convenient.
Speaking of the brush roller, I love the fact that hair does not tangle around the roller. The PowerFins are an effective alternative to brush bristles, and cutting off hair wound around the brush roller is something I’ll never have to do again.
The Lift-Away canister is very convenient for vacuuming the stairs or reaching a cobweb up in the corner of the ceiling. It is also handy for cleaning the interior of the vehicles.
Included Accessories: The package includes a crevice tool and upholstery cleaner, each with convenient onboard storage. There is also an accessory kit included called a Precision Duster. I’ll be using it for detailing the cars. It has a long, narrow wand with brush attachment that makes it easy to access that area between the seats and doorsill and sufficient suction to pick up the loose change that gets lost down there. The Precision Duster works great!
Maintenance: The dust cup is simple to remove and empty, and the filters have easy access for removal and cleaning.
Complaints: We have another Shark lift-away that separates from the vacuum head with a footswitch release. This machine requires you to bend over and depress a switch located just above the vacuum head. I prefer the footswitch as it requires no bending and searching for the pushbutton release. Also, I wish the power cord on this vacuum was about five feet longer. It doesn’t have the same reach as our other Shark corded vacuum.
Overall, we are very pleased with our new Shark!

I used to have a shark Navigator, which is the lighter version of the shark vacuums, and this one is much lighter and easier to use than my old vacuum! The powerfins are great for getting deep in the fibers and there is no hair wrap! I know all machines say that, but my family all has long hair, so we would be cleaning our brushroll at least once a month. So far we haven't had to clean it at all! I'm loving it so far.

Works well, but I'm used to the kind of vacuum with brushes. And the cord isn't as long as my other vacuum that finally quit on me. But it does seem to work well picking up pet hair!

The Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with PowerFins and Self-Cleaning Brushroll is another great vacuum released by Shark. I really like this particular brand of vacuums and this newest addition certainly lives up to the Shark name and reputation.
Initial setup of the vacuum was very easy and straightforward. I skimmed through the included instruction manual which was very detailed and had the vacuum up and running in no-time. I was surprised by how light the entire box was prior to unboxing since I knew it meant the vacuum would be quite light once assembled. This was certainly the case but what makes this vacuum even better and lighter is its lift-away function. Basically, you can disengage the middle canister portion from the brushroll base making it much easier to hold and maneuver while using the attached wand. This design feature is particularly helpful for me since my home is three stories and both sets of stairs are carpeted. As I’m sure you can imagine, this can make cleaning the stairs quite difficult but by being able to lift-away and easily carry the vacuum with me, cleaning the stairs is now a piece of cake.
The vacuum has great suction from both the wand and base with the self-cleaning brushroll which is another awesome feature. It still shocks me to see just how much hair is picked up when vacuuming and in the past with my older brushroll vacuum, the hair would get tangled around the brushroll and I would have to manually clean it by cutting the hair and pulling it from the brushroll which was never a pleasant experience. Now with this new vacuum, the brushroll is able to detangle the hair itself and I no longer need to get out the scissors and go through the gross process of cutting away the old clumps of dirty, dusty hair when vacuuming.
Overall, the Shark Rotator Lift-Away Upright Vacuum with PowerFins and Self-Cleaning Brushroll is a high-quality feature-filled vacuum that I really enjoy using and I highly recommend it!

This is a great vacuum

I have no less than four or five vacuum cleaners in my house. One for each floor and one that no longer works that great, but I keep meaning to take it to get repaired. I have vacuums that cost as little as $100 to some that cost over $500 and this one is my new favorite.
This came in a box with the parts separated and had to be put together. This was a pretty small task as it was easy enough to do without any tools. It has a perfect weight to it. Not too heavy and not too light which makes it easy to transfer between floors if need be. The best features of this vacuum to me is the powerful suction, even when using the extension handle for hard to reach places and the ability to detach the bottom as a lift away vacuum.
I have several flights of stairs in my house and typically i'm old school in that I prefer to sweep the carpeted stairs with a broom because I usually get them cleaner. Of course it takes more effort, but I've been less than impressed with my other vacuum's abilities to clean the steps effectively. After putting this together, that was the first thing I wanted to try. I was more than impressed with the suction power using just the wand. The vacuum has a slider that adjusts the amount of suction used and with it all the way open, I was very pleased with the results. No longer will I need to take my broom to the steps. The lift away is light enough, although not very stable when I sat it down on the steps, to carry up the steps to clean. The cord could be a little bit longer, but that is based on the number of stairs that I have and having to plug it into a different outlet.
The vacuum has a setting for hard floors and carpet which I liked. After sweeping the tile in my kitchen floor, i used the vacuum to suck up everything that I gathered and it did a great job. I personally really like this vacuum and would highly recommend it.

Powerful and Flexible Cleaning

I like that it doesn't have any plastic packaging. It was easy to put together. There is a quick start guide on the box, but it is really obvious what to do.
I love that it is a lift away. I have another Shark vacuum and the only feature I find it is missing is the lift away. Makes it very easy to move around. The cord is a generous length and there are a great selection of attachments included.
Suction is powerful and it is easy to move between different surfaces. The PowerFin roller works really well allowing less passes to clean an area. The self cleaning brush roll is excellent with pet hair and doesn't wrap around the roller. Emptying the container is easy and mess free - you can hold it over the garbage can the just drop the contents.
There is also a HEPA filter, LED lights, and you can control the suction with a sliding piece. I also like that you can store the most often used attachments on the vacuum itself.
It stores easily, is powerful, and flexible, and easy to recommend. Shark vacuums have really become a quality choice, I expect it to last a really long time.

This is a really great vacuum. The detachable canister makes cobweb cleaning a breeze. Excellent for cleaning the dust off of blinds and fan blades.
The adjustable power makers it a little easier to push the vacuum for anyone with bad joints or back.
The shark fins surprisingly are not getting clogged with puppy hair. The self cleaning claim seems to be holding true. Now I just need to have it empty itself.
As for suction power, when the adjustable suction turned down it cleans amazingly well. Kicking it up to super suck and dirt doesn't stand a chance. Mega Maid would approve.
The canister removed is perfect for cleaning the car out. The attachments included makes the job even easier.
The only wish I have is around the cord. Self reeling would have been great, but an extra 3 feet would have been better. The cord isn't short, but I keep reaching it's limit about a foot away from where the old vacuum would reach.
I would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a versatile vacuum. There are plenty of attachments and plenty of other attachments available.

One of the things I like about this Shark Vacuum lift away is, the design that resembles the classic look of the first vacuum cleaners with a modern touch of technology and a fascinating color. The unboxing is very simple, all the parts are wrapped in paper but well distributed and easy to access, the first thing that is in sight is the user guide which shows how to assemble the vacuum cleaner, shows the different ways to use it and some tips to solve the most common problems. Moving on to the assembly part, the instructions are very clear, besides the fact that it is a bit intuitive to assemble, I find it very easy and fast to assemble.
Well, with respect to the performance I have been very satisfied and impressed at the same time because I find that this vacuum cleaner has a lot of suction power and fulfills what it promises in each of the modes of use. Each of these modes helps to clean more thoroughly and completely most of the areas of my house, from cleaning the floor, carpets, corners, curtains etc, as it has accessories that facilitate these tasks, to lift the vacuum to clean different areas or even furniture, is great but I do not recommend it for long periods of time can be a little tiring. The compartment where the trash and dust is stored is large and easy to clean. When vacuuming carpets and other surfaces it really sucks up the dust and debris that is trapped and also hair without the roller getting clogged or filled with hair, that surprised me a lot and is appreciated, for those who have pets it is a very useful function. Switching between modalities and/or attachments is very easy and with time and use, it is even easier.
I think one of the things I don't like is the wire, it's long but sometimes if you don't pay attention you can step on it or it can get stuck in the tires of the vacuum cleaner but it doesn't cause any inconvenience, with time you get used to it, it really makes me feel like in the old days xd. I think it is a solid product and very well designed, also fulfills its mission and is easy to use, clean and store and if you have pets will be of great help, I think with a slight discount is well worth it, highly recommended.

Self Cleaning... Need I say More.

So I really like this design. Shark does a really nice job making vacuum cleaners. First lets talk about their Lift Away design. This is really handy when you need to get closer to furniture or stairs for example. Think of this as a 2 in 1 model. It can work as an upright vacuum but also as a canister style. Makes it adaptable to any situation you may have at home.
But does it work? Or yes….. It has excellent power and suction. The next feature I really like is the self cleaning brushroll. These power fins are a fabulous design. They offer a deep channel to keep in contact with hardwood or dig deep into carpet. This allows you pick up more hair in a single pass with no hair wrap.
You get plenty of accessories to reach high or low as you are cleaning. The wand is a nice length for reaching those high hard to reach places.
You get different settings, a “Hardfloor” and a “Carpet” This controls how fast the roller spins depending on the type of surface you are trying to clean.
This is a corded unit, and offers great power and suction. But it also offers great maneuverability. It was easy to move it around on carpet and hardwood floors and even around my furniture.
After cleaning, it is time to empty the canister. The dust will release from the bottom of the container, which I like, and the door will open towards you, so to keep the dust away from you as it empties from the canister.
This is a great vacuum and picks up hair and dust well, and love the self cleaning brushroll. This will be in our home for a long time.

Having owned many types and brands of vacuums over the years I continue to be impressed every time I get a new Shark brand vacuum. They always seem to offer a great value and this one is no exception.
Packaging:
Unboxing and assembly were very easy and straight forward. It comes mostly assembled and it was ready for use in minutes.
Power/Function:
Suction power is great and it picks up dirt and dust that you didn't even know was there. The lift-a-away function works with the push of a button and is great for working on the stairs or in high-up hard to reach places. The new brush head is designed with a few sets of rubber fins in place of traditional bristle brushes to prevent things from getting tangled up during use. It seems to work as designed because after a couple of weeks usage I have yet to find any hair or thread wrapped around the brush.
Accessories:
The included attachments are pretty handy, especially the new micro attachment. It is very useful for cleaning window tracks or detailing the nooks and crannies of a car interior. I am also happy to see that they continue to use the same HEPA and dust filters from previous models so availability shouldn't be an issue.
All in, I'm very happy with my new vacuum and I'm sure it will last me years just as my previous Shark did.

Nice vacuum with a few draw backs

This is a nice and effective vacuum with just a few drawbacks. As a vacuum, it does a great job. It definitely works better than my Dyson, and the roller brushes keep clean, which is nice to not have to worry about.
Set-up: Everything clicks together very easily. The diagrams in the booklet are useful, but probably not absolutely necessary. It is also very nice that there is a stand for two of the three attachments to clip on to as well, rather than just having them float around in a closet.
Use: All you have to do to use an attachment is unclip the main suction tube, or just the handle, and connect an attachment. That being said, you don't have a great reach with the length of the hose, so it will take some getting used to with having to hold the canister the entire time.
Draw-backs: A minor issue, but since the canister rests on top of the main suction tube, the vacuum wants to pull to the left or right. It definitely takes some effort to get it to run a straight line. Also, the head with the roller brushes is fairly thick, so it may be difficult to get under furniture. Finally, the upholstery attachment does not have a roller, which makes it not very effective at getting fine material off of fabrics.
Emptying: Couldn't be easier. Just unclip the canister, and press a clip to release the bottom. I also appreciate that the canister is large enough that you can clean it out thoroughly if you want.

Extreme Suction, PowerFins and HEPA Filtration!

This new Shark vacuum with PowerFins is great, it literally sucks more than any other vacuum I’ve owned. I love trying out the latest tech and innovations coming out of Shark/Ninja labs and this vacuum with PowerFins is just another example of how they keep improving their design and learning from each model as they progress towards creating the best vacuums available.
I live in a household with 2 dogs that shed a lot, which means that I’ve been removing pet hair from the bristles of vacuum rollers for quite some time. It’s annoying but something that I’ve gotten used to and have accepted as a normal part of vacuum cleaner maintenance. Not anymore, introducing Shark’s new “PowerFins” roller. This roller has been specially designed to prevent pet hair and long hair from tangling, clogging and damaging the roller. And guess what, it works! I’ve been using this for almost a week now, have vacuumed my home multiple times, and haven’t had to remove one hair from the roller, it stays clean & clear. I love it!
Another thing to love about this vacuum is the powerful suction. It pulled out so much dirt, and dust from my rugs and carpets that my other vacuums must have missed. I was very impressed. And, even though this vacuum pulls out more dirt, the dust bin is large enough to accommodate the improved suction, and doesn’t have to be emptied as often as smaller dust bins.
This vacuum features a completely sealed HEPA filtration system which works to keep dust and allergens out of the air as you clean. The specs says it captures and traps over 99.9% of dust and allergens, which means that you are cleaning your air as you vacuum, which is important because vacuuming often kicks up the dust that has settled. The HEPA filter needs to be cleaned with cold water annually and it needs to be replaced every 3 years. The replacement filter needed is XHFZD400 and is currently priced at about $20 on the Shark website. There is also a pre-motor filter system, which consists of 2 filters that need to be cleaned with cold water every 3 months. These 2 pre-motor filters should be replaced every 2.5 years. The replacement filters are XFFKZD400 and are priced at about $12 for the pair on the Shark website. Please note, it is important to properly clean the filters and replace them when due. Not doing so could result in a funky smelling vacuum over time. LOL
Speaking of cleaning and proper vacuum maintenance, Shark does a great job of designing their vacuums in a way where all the parts are easily disassembled for cleaning and removing any clogs from the hose, nozzle or dust cup. They also do a great job of adding labels, important notes, instructions, etc. printed onto different parts of the vacuum, to make it even more user friendly!
The only improvement I would make, for future models, is to sell a PowerFins DuoClean model with both brush heads designed like the PowerFins. That would be a great next step. Also, as I was vacuuming my hallway this evening, I thought… Why isn’t there a baseboard attachment on most vacuum cleaners? That would be great if an adjustable, 2”-5”, vertical brush could be attached to the sides for cleaning the baseboards as you vacuum. Just an idea for a future release. :)
Overall I’m very pleased with this new Shark PowerFins and Self-Cleaning vacuum and am very happy I made the purchase. I would highly recommend this to anyone with dogs and any floor type.

Solid and dependable

I have been using this vacuum for a while now over and have developed a number of opinions on it.
First, the price of this model is roughly $240 (at the time of this review) and overall I would definitely say it lives up to the expectations of that price point. There are a lot of vacuums at that specific price: within about $200 to $250, and I would say it gives most of the other comparable models a run for their money. It's not perfect of course, but my experience has been very good so far.
As far as weight and portability goes, I'm judging it based on how heavy it feels for me and how easy it is to move around while I'm vacuuming. While cordless vacuums make this the most convenient, I understand that that may be a lot to ask from a $240 vacuum, so I'm not going to get hung up on it. Beyond that, the vacuum is a bit on the heavier side, enough that I notice it when I have to move it up and down the stairs as I vacuum. At times, I do notice that the vacuum tips itself over easily with only mild shakes. Again, it's nothing super crazy but it is enough to at least be noticeable, and at times at least a little aggravating.
Next up is suction, and I think many would say that this is the most important consideration for a vacuum. I must say that this is the third vacuum I have used from Shark, and I am never disappointed by the suction. After simply one pass, the vacuum leaves a great-looking carpet and pick up a lot of my pet's hair (I have a long haired cat, which produces a lot of fur, as you can imagine). If you're like me then you will of course want to do a second pass, but if you're short on time or just not too worried about doing more than one pass, you will be completely happy with the results. I do notice a decrease in suction once the canister reaches about half capacity. My other complaint is that if you have to lift up the vacuum, I have sometimes noticed that it will shoot out some dust or particles that it has already sucked up before. Of course even then, it is not too significant, so I cannot deduct too much on that.
Last up is convenience, and I am referring to how easy it is to understand the product and begin using it once right out of the box. At first, it might seem silly to make this category on something like a vacuum, but I have used a number of vacuums and sometimes it is not always straightforward, so I consider it important enough to mention. A lot of vacuums require significant assembly before they can be used, and even then, there are oftentimes a lot of buttons or features that can be intimidating. This model however, is very user-friendly, and only requires a few steps to be assembled, and it’s buttons are limited. Sure, you could make the argument that this means less features, but we can only expect so much with a vacuum at this price point. Overall, it checks all my boxes when I want a convenient product: It’s easy to take out of the box, easy to assemble, and easy to start using right away.
Overall, I have been very pleased with my experience thus far. This product is easy to get going and will do a great job at getting your carpets cleaned and your hard floors too. My main issues come from occasionally inconsistent suction (oh, and a lack of more attachments out of the box as it only comes with two). However, beyond that, this product works well, feels durable, and I can see myself using this for a long time.
