After not being able to vacuum the carpet after moving due to only having a hard-floor vacuum, I can safely say that the heavy-carpet/rug option works to digging into the carpet and pulling up dust and debris. It also works as a hard floor vacuum, effectively making my old vacuum useless. Assembling the vacuum was easy with the quick start-up instructions and necessary to fully use the capability of the vacuum (as you're probably unplugging everything to dusting out the ceiling). Price range (at the time of purchase, it was $250) was a bit much considering that some competing brands for the same price range can be a wet/dry vac (this is only dry); but at the time of wanting an upgrade, it was a good purchase made. Most replacement parts are available in the Shark website (filters, the decorative shield, the decorative logo, etc), but some third party parts are also available in the open market for a fraction of the cost (e.g. filters). If anything, I wished it could take a bit more liquid than nothing.

This thing is incredible!! I had tried a few different vacuums but every time any hair on the carpet would get so wrapped up in the brush that it took forever to get it all out. I did our entire upstairs and there wasn't a single bit of hair on the PowerFin brush!!!!!! I am seriously so impressed. I love that it has enough power to where it just wants to go forward on it's own so it doesn't take so much manpower to push it back and forth. The lift-away option is top tier and perfect for cleaning the stairs or hard to reach places. Truly cannot say enough good things about this vacuum.

I absolutely LOVE this vacuum! A friend suggested we buy it since we were researching new vacuums for our new home. She named all the good things about it, so why not!? When I tell you I will NEVER buy another brand of vacuum again, I mean I will NEVER do it. This is the most amazing thing I have ever used. I have hardwood and short carpet in my home and the fact that I can interchange between the 2 options while it is running is a Godsend. The suction is like nothing I have ever seen or felt before. The vacuum literally pulls itself. The bristles are really self cleaning, it is easy to empty out the “trash compartment”, the wand and other accessories are easy to use, I LOVE the fact that I just put my foot on the head and it tilts back, and it picks up so much. If I had to “complain” about anything it would be that I would love a cord that wraps up inside the vacuum with a push of a button because I’m not a fan of wrapping it myself, but that isn’t even really all that bad. Honestly, if you’re searching for something that does it all then this is for you! You won’t regret it, I know I sure don’t.

The best! Was a little back and forth about this because of the cost. After a week I now see why. It’s so versatile to different cleaning situations. It has great suction, cleans like a champ on all kinds of surfaces and easy to move. BTW we bought this after taking back our dyson which was a pain to use the hose (even after calling their support). This is night and day different. Highly recommend!

I absolutely love this vacuum. It is on the heavier side and it is a vacuum that likes to eat cords! Other than those two thing, it’s amazing.

It works well. Works amazing on my area rugs. Cord is not as long as other models, but the suction makes up for that shortcoming.

I am impressed with my new Shark Vertex vacuum. It's easy to manage even for someone with lower back issues. The suction is great....!! It pull a lot of dust and fur out of my carpet that i didnt realize was there. It works well with my carpet and ceramic tile floors. My money was well spent.

Hey Best Buy - can I give this vacuum 10 stars? I originally purchased the Dyson Animal 2 but after assembling it and trying it out I had to return it. I did an exchange for this Shark and the Shark WAY outperforms the Animal 2. Why is that? 1) The vacuum is way easier to assemble 2) The parts are sturdy unlike the Dyson where the parts felt like cheap plastic 3) The suction power on the Shark is fantastic. The Dyson Animal 2 has too much suction. When vacuuming carpet the Dyson would pull the carpet up and stop the roller blades. I vacuumed a carpet with the new Shark after vacuuming the Dyson and the Shark pulled up and additional canister of dog hair and dust. 4) The Shark is PHENOMENAL at pulling up dust and dog dander - even out of sofas. 5) The front of the Shark is low enough to get under cabinet doors. 6) The Shark as 4 different ways to use the vacuum between body / canister / handle, etc. Dyson ball can't get under a bed so you need the cordless Dyson to do that. This means you need 1 Shark to 2 Dyson units. 7) Power buttons and floor adjuster are on the handle. This means no bending over to adjust the height of the vacuum. 8) The attachment that has the roller as well is fantastic on furniture. Love, love love this Shark. Very happy customer.

Very powerful vacuum , easy to put together , four clicks and your done. works great on carpet and tile. It did not have a switch to angle the handle back , you just put your foot on top of the beater area and pull back ,, next time i will read ALL the instructions.

The vacuum has a strong suction, and can take on both large to fine, and even microscopic particles such as allergens. It does come with a Hepa Filter, and two additional larger porous filter stages. Your arm doesn't get worn out from the repetitive motions. Making a turn is very easy. The attachments are very useful for small crevices, cleaning your car, between car seats, and under chairs. I can fully detach the hose, and reach in high areas. It has features that are easy to use, such as emptying your bin, or changing your filter. I have tried this on hardwood, and it works very well.

I have had this vacuum for about a month and, so far, I absolutely love it!! It has better suction than my Dyson (I had the Dyson Animal, not the newer Animal Ball). I love the lift away feature so I can get under beds and furniture. Works great on concrete floors and area rugs. The suction is so strong that it's a little difficult for my 9 year old daughter to use because it runs away from her. But for my husband and I, it's perfect. As long as it lasts well, which we don't yet know, this will be my favorite vacuum.

Alltogether it's pretty hefty, but fairly easy to handle (I'm 74 yrs old) and lifted off its base pretty light. Fantastic suction! No hair wrapped around the roller. (I have a long hsired cat and a dog.) Super long cord. Extremely happy with my purchase and would highly recommend.

This is my 2nd Shark vacuum. I had my last one for 20 years and this one pulls out all the stops with upgrades. Works great on my new carpet. I really like that hair doesn't get caught in the rollers and that it has three levels for floor types. The self-propelling function is nice, too.

My 1st floor is hardwood flooring but my 2nd is all carpet and let me say this thing cleans the carpet like a champ, my only issues since the chord is on the left side its a little bit awkwardly to use the carry, take apart mode whatever you wanna call it when you when vacuum the stairs and or the ceiling

Great suction , love the lights in the front to see the dirt , but it’s heavy, and light indicator went out to show if your on floor or carpet within 4 uses.

This vacuum is amazing. I have a carpet and a furry golden retriever. When I tell the carpet looks brand new after use. The suction is also powerful and I love the different attachments. One thing I also noticed was the filter. Whenever I would clean my filter out on my old vacuum, all of the dust collected would spill out but with this vacuum, the dust stays in place. I’m very satisfied with my choice in purchasing this vacuum.

I own a dyson cordless and I thought it was awesome but my house required a charge between starting and finishing so I planned on getting another dyson but I seen this and it checked the reviews looked good. I unboxed and got it ready, vacuumed with the dyson then with my new Shark and it picked up enough to make it clear the dyson was leaving a lot behind. We have a Husky Shepherd mix and the hair is crazy but the vacuum has a cone on the inlet of the filter that traps the hair leaving the filter clear to keep the suction strong for the whole house. Touch levels are nice for going from our thick carpet in the living room and the shorter in the hallway and kids room. Shark seems to have a lot of products and that sometimes scares me for quality when they have so many things going on but clearly they keep good quality.

Wow the suction on this vacuum really does work. I feel like this is one of the better Shark Vacuums. I cleaned homes in the past and this one is one I used before and definitely glad I bought for my own home. I hope it lasts a long time! Also one note, I wish it would fit under my couch, but it’s fine I just use the long stick and bend down. So if you can’t bend - then maybe not for you. Also like that I can get into corners.
