It's possessed, the power button doesn't work but you touch the handle it turns on and off. I didn't buy the insurance through Best Buy... I hope they will take it back. Don't Buy this vacuum if you know what's Best for you.

This is my 3rd Shark vacuum and this is the most powerful of all of them. The units is easy to assemble out of the box and the attachments store easily. There isn't a place to store the power head attachment so that is a little annoying. The dust collection bin is also larger than the one I owned previously but it's easy to detach and to empty. It is a little heavier than the Shark Duo clean but it is definitely worth it. The setting switch on the handle is easy to use and I like the location of the power switch. It's much more convenient. The new powerfins seem to do a good job of collecting debris and there are no hair tangles around the brushes to worry about. Overall, I would say this is a great vacuum especially with not having to remove hair from the brushes when you have 2 women in the house with long hair.

Currently, I have a much older upright as well as a high end cordless vac. I was looking to replace my heavy upright with something lighter but still want the power of an upright. I could have simply used my cordless vac since it claims it's as strong as an upright, but it's not. After researching, the Shark Vertex seemed to be the sweet spot in between and I decided to try it. First impressions: • Seems relatively compact and not too heavy • Build quality seems high • Color is a little off-putting for me; rose gold accents aren't my thing • Nice selection of accessories/attachments • Very easy to assemble • Versatile lift-off configurations After getting it all put together, which took about 5 minutes max, I tested it out. I used it on carpet, wood floors and area rugs. The lit powered brush head pivots as you push it and it can swivel around objects quite easily. The new Powerfins on the brush roller seem to do a nice job keeping the brush in contact with all three surfaces and really did a great job sweeping up the carpet fibers to release deep dirt. I had just vacuumed the day before with my cordless and the Shark Vertex still picked up quite a bit of dirt. I was very surprised. It felt like an upright and was quite powerful. Shark says that the Vertex is the most powerful of all their vacuums. After floor cleaning, I went straight to the stairs. The lift off function is amazing and the handle placement makes it very easy to hold. With a simple click, the vacuum body detaches from the wand connected to the powerhead brush, which I removed and replaced with the included smaller air driven tangle-free brush head. Cleaning the stairs was super easy and fast. I've really been wanting a more powerful vacuum that makes stair cleaning simple. The Vertex did that. I also used the powered lift off configuration while vacuuming the carpet but I found it was a little awkward. The powered brush head seemed to run away from me while using and it never stayed flush to the carpet but kept lifting off the floor. I guess the brush head isn't heavy enough to keep it firmly in contact with the floor. Last but not least, I used the non powered lift off configuration where I used the attachments at the end of the wand. I cleaned air vents high and low as well as curtains. It was super easy and it worked very well. It definitely felt more powerful than my existing cordless. Emptying the bin was super simple. Just detach the bin and hold over the trash can. Push a small latch button on the bottom of the dustbin and it empties via gravity. It's a pretty common way of emptying vacuums these days–no bags. There are a couple pre-filters you can clean, and I recommend doing so. They get dirty pretty fast. There's also a HEPA filter so that the dust is sealed and nothing is blown out during use. Storage was simple. I clicked it all back together and wound the cord up on the built in cord holders. It's pretty compact and fits nicely in a small closet. My only criticisms of the Vertex are: • No brush roll off option. It lifted my area rugs off the wood floors. • I wish the color scheme was a bit more neutral. • No bending/hinge point on the wand. It won't bend like previous models for cleaning under objects. • As I mentioned earlier, the powered lift off function using the powered brush head was awkward. The back of it kept lifting off the floor. • The included mini powered brush head ( what I used on the stairs) was only air powered. Would have been much better if it was motor driven instead. Overall, I was quite impressed with the new Vertex. It was powerful and the new Powefins seemed to do a great job getting deep into the carpet fibers. The Vertex is compact and very versatile with the powered and non-powered lift off configurations. It fit right in between my heavy old upright and less powerful cordless vac and I'm very I chose it. Plus, the 5 year warranty is great for future peace of mind.

The Shark® Vertex DuoClean® PowerFins Upright Vacuum is an amazing full-sized upright. We previously owned a TOTL Shark Apex upright and returned it quickly as the suction performance varied for no obvious reason. That experience was quite disappointing, but it appears Shark has put some serious re-thinking into the Vertex line. It presents itself as a highly engineer machine with outstanding build quality & performance. Initial Setup Setup was quick, simple and straightforward. Assembly took all of about 5 minutes. No tools required. Performance No fancy electronic displays on this model but certainly well designed in terms of button/controls placement. We have a 9 by 12 area rug in our great room that sees a lot of traffic. We also have a dog. I won’t dis the top manufacturer of cordless, stick vacuums because for daily ‘sweeps’ across our tiled, hardwood and carpeted floors – they are amazing machines. But in reality, periodic deep cleaning is a must and stick vacuums – no matter how much suction they claim to have – can only do so much on surfaces other than solid flooring. Upon the arrival of the Shark® Vertex, we first ran over our entire short-pile area rug in the great room with our cordless stick vacuum. The ‘D’ did an admirable job of picking up what we thought was the aggregate of dust, hair and whatnot. We finished with the dust bin being about 50% full – which is typical for a weekly session. Next up, we rolled the Shark® Vertex DuoClean® into the room, set it to the middle suction setting and went to town. Amazingly, the Shark extracted quite a bit of additional dirt, dust and hair from our massive area rug. So there you have it. Draw your own conclusions. In summary, I would say, it’s a good idea to have both a light-weight stick vacuum for more daily cleaning and a Vertex to do the deeper runs a couple times a month – especially if you have a lot of carpet & area rugs throughout your home and you have pets. Certainly, if you only have the means to own a single vacuum cleaner, then the Shark® Vertex DuoClean® PowerFins Upright Vacuum is the one you want. If your home is primarily solid flooring throughout, you probably don’t need the power & performance of this machine. The Shark® Vertex Upright Vacuum comes with all the standard & necessary attachments, is easy to operate, is relatively quiet in operation and is convertible in few different ways. It goes from carpeted flooring, to hard floors to area rugs without a hitch. And it has that hair wrapping prevention design that works like a charm. A few final, side notes: The power cord is long; the hose extends just fine for 9 ft ceiling reaches and the overall design aesthetic is pleasant – with no screaming colors or racing stripes. Pros: Well-constructed, easy to assemble design Relatively quiet for its size & power with a smooth sound character in operation rather than harsh Convertible design Easy to maneuver and glides over changing floor conditions; hard surface to rugs to carpet Large collection bin – that should satisfy even the most demanding of pet lovers 5-year warranty Cons: Can’t really think on a single instance other than to say, this may be more vacuum that some would need; i.e. those with primarily all hard flooring throughout their home Without hesitation, this vacuum is highly recommended for those with demanding floors and pets

I have 2 little short-haired dogs who shed all day every day, which is probably about 70% of what I’m cleaning up. I also have a Shark Navigator I’ve used for years and really do enjoy their uncompromised suction power. When I first got this Vacuum, I did a test between my old Shark and this one to see the difference. I sectioned off 2 different parts of my room, one for each vacuum, then did a follow-up with the other vacuum on the same spot to see how much additional “stuff” was picked up. In a nutshell, the new Shark picked up slightly more than the old, but both did a good job. This is good because after 8+ years of having my Shark Navigator, it still stood its ground against a newer generation years later, proving that Shark is still a quality brand. This vacuum is a lot more versatile than my old one though and that’s where it really begins to shine. The swivel function is great for maneuvering and corners, It also includes the pet hair brush attachment like my old one and works very well. I used it on my bed where my dogs love to lounge all day and it picked up most of the visible hair. The Vacuum itself almost feels like its self-propelling, it may take some time to get used to but you can feel those brushes doing some work. The different methods for vaccuming this model offers: • Standard upright vacuum position • Hose vacuum to hit hard to reach or above ground areas. Removes hose from the top by the handle • Wand handle to reach further places. Detaches from the base along with the hose • Lift-away method. Detaches the collection container to hold with one hand and walk around more freely with hose or wand. It comes with 3 attachments: Crevice tool, Pet Power Brush, and a Brush/upholstery tool. Strangely there are only 2 spots to keep attachments on the vacuum that I have found so far, so I have to keep the 3rd somewhere else. It also claims to have a self-cleaning system for its brushes which would be great, less maintenance the better for me. The freedom of detaching the vacuum will definitely be a big help for cleaning blinds and edges where dust accumulates. Plus it comes with a 5 year warranty, can’t be it! I highly recommend this product.

This is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. Way better than the Dyson I had and very simple to use. Shark has taken several lessons learned over the years and incorporated them in this model. The filter is larger, flat and easy to clean. The power button is on the handle where it's needed, and the rotor brushes are designed to accumulate less debris on them while propelling larger pieces of dirt into the vacuum. All in all an excellent product. The only improvement i would ask for is a round brush. Rectangular brushes are not as versatile for getting into areas. Offer a round brush accessory and I'll buy it shark!

This is a fairly lightweight vacuum for an upright, a bit heavy if you are used to a cordless or if, like me, you have arthritis, but it is easy to maneuver and the swivel head helps that along. Fortunately, you really don't have to lift it as it does glide along well. The button for the three settings of hardwood, low and high pile carpet make transitioning easy if you have hardwood floors and area rugs. The cord is long so there is no need to constantly be switching outlets. The canister is a good size and easy to empty. There is a washable HEPA filter to cut down on the usual dust a vacuum puts out. The self-cleaning roll brush seems to live up to its name so far, which I appreciated. It detaches into a hand-held which makes it easy to do stairs and get to places the an upright has difficulty reaching - even with the swivel head that works great for corners. With the pod off, it can even easily clean under furniture. With a cat, dog and grandkids running around, it really did the job picking up dirt and animal hair, leaving things looking clean. The only con I've seen so far is that the pet brush isn't as well made as I expected but given it also didn't have hair wrapped around the brush, it does do what it says.

My wife and I have owned six or more upright vacuum cleaners (as well as three or four shop vacs) over the past 35 years, and none of them were in the same league as the Shark Vertex upright we purchased at Best Buy at the beginning of this month (December, 2023). They were all highly rated according to our research, and good brands such as Eureka--The Boss, Kirby, and Panasonic. None of them was as powerful, as lightweight, or as convenient as this Shark Vertex. It's lightweight, extremely well thought out, and it's the most powerful vacuum cleaner we've ever owned. It's a truly amazing piece of equipment.
