I have had this vacuum cleaner for over a year and it is totally over-engineered. Very frustrating to use. The cord is short, removing and attaching the canister is frustrating, the canister fills up fast. I wish any of type Dyson was available when I purchased this thing.

I had a Dyson Animal, no ball, upright for over 8 years. I loved it. It was well made, great suction, lasted, replacing parts after 5 year warranty was easy. I swore by Dyson. It was time for an upgrade, so I upgraded to the new Dyson Animal Ball version. I ordered it directly from Dyson. I noticed that many of the parts were cheap plastic instead of metal. The unit was flimsy. The front end of the vacuum kept popping off every time I tried to vacuum, clearly defective, so I shipped the unit back to Dyson on day three. I purchased the V11 Animal cordless direct from Dyson. I noticed the suction was not as good as the original upright that I owned. The unit was cheaply made, but it was portable and got the job of cleaning done. It had its issues, many of them, but I could deal with them. It stopped working at 2 years, 2 months. I called Dyson, they told me it was no longer covered under warranty since it was 2 months outside of the warranty window. Apparently it is a huge problem with the Dyson's. Dyson's have gone downhill. I decided to try a new vacuum brand (new to me). So I researched and found this Shark Vertex DuoClean. This vacuum is the best vacuum ever. I have owned it for 4 days and already I am in love. It is built nicely. It has powerful suction. The attachments are just enough to clean with. The dual floor cleaning brushes are perfect for cleaning hardwood floors. It is night and day compared to my $600 Dyson. I am glad I bought this vacuum. It is worth it. It picks up so much as the dust bin proves. I had been a Dyson owner for almost 12 years...now I will never look back. Shark all the way!!

By far the best suction in a vacuum. Better than the shark apex which is what this one is replacing. Better than any other shark or dyson. I’m impressed. I’ve owned several sharks over the last ten years and a dyson stick. I tried the dyson ball, it’s a piece of junk. This vertex is versatile! Can vacuum under things, use the hose to reach up high, although it could be longer. Love love love this vacuum! The suction though, amazing!! Thanks shark!

This is my second Shark DuoClean upright vacuum and I feel it is an improvement over the last, which was excellent! I wanted a second one so I could leave one upstairs and one downstairs. I am not disappointed and am so glad I have this one! I live on a dirt road in the country, with dogs, people, pollen and spiders constantly invading my home. This machine is different than previous ones in that it has rubber 'fins' instead of a bristle brush. These fins, combined with the soft roller, attack hard floors and carpets and remove the dirt and particles. The rubber fins do not harm anything, but help dislodge mud and debris easily. This comes with an upholstery attachment that really showed me how well it worked when it quickly to grab all the dog and goat hair from my dark fabric recliner! Excellent. The animal hair tends to embed itself, but is not match for the fins! The rubber fin yanks that hair right out of there! So perfect! This shark, like the others, is so convertible at a touch notice that I can pull out the wand to such away spider webs on the celing, or carry it up the stairs to vacuum the treads. You can easily see in the bin if it is getting full. A little click and a trip to the outside dust bin and it's empty and ready to suck up more dirt. I love that the filters on the shark are washable. I already ordered a spare set so that I can wash them frequently and always have a dry set to put in the machine. We have really fine dust and lots of pollen, so the house is always clean with my sharks!

Out of the box, The power shorted out several times when turning the shark on. It’s not my electric. Even our cleaning woman experienced the same problem. It’s been intermittent. I saw a similar post.

This shark vac has excellent suction & does well on both carpet & hard floors. I like the soft front roller that pucks up particles on hard floors. The rollers have not wrapped hair around them. The tank is easy to empty. Be sure to empty both top & bottom portions of the tank. Great buy!

We love our vacuum from Shark but with a big caveat: it is extremely difficult to service if something goes wrong. The design of the vacuum seems geared towards obsolescence. We recently had a runaway screw get caught in the main roller of our vacuum and it was impossible to remove it without deconstructing the entire base (2+ hours of work). The instructions online to do so are basically nonexistent (cue a rabbit hole of youtube videos), we had to buy special screw bits, the plastic parts in the base are flimsy, the mini roller wheels around which hair gets caught very easily (and behind which there is a screw) are impossible to remove without damaging the rubber and needing to replace them. In fairness to the Shark, it is my favourite vacuum to date and extremely powerful. It is great for that alone. But something that is likely to suck up small objects should have an easy possibility to also remove it, rather than potentially rendering the appliance unusable, in need of servicing, or even breaking it. I've been happy with the Shark, in part because I got it for less than 2/3rds of the current posted price, but I'd be a lot less happy if I had paid full price and/or we hadn't been able to resolve our issue.

This is a fairly lightweight vacuum for an upright, a bit heavy if you are used to a cordless or if, like me, you have arthritis, but it is easy to maneuver and the swivel head helps that along. Fortunately, you really don't have to lift it as it does glide along well. The button for the three settings of hardwood, low and high pile carpet make transitioning easy if you have hardwood floors and area rugs. The cord is long so there is no need to constantly be switching outlets. The canister is a good size and easy to empty. There is a washable HEPA filter to cut down on the usual dust a vacuum puts out. The self-cleaning roll brush seems to live up to its name so far, which I appreciated. It detaches into a hand-held which makes it easy to do stairs and get to places the an upright has difficulty reaching - even with the swivel head that works great for corners. With the pod off, it can even easily clean under furniture. With a cat, dog and grandkids running around, it really did the job picking up dirt and animal hair, leaving things looking clean. The only con I've seen so far is that the pet brush isn't as well made as I expected but given it also didn't have hair wrapped around the brush, it does do what it says.

Great vacuum. Powerful suction, able to go under furniture and clean the cold air returns near the ceiling. Died a great job on both carpet and hardwood floors.

Best vacuum we’ve ever had. Has picked up more dog hair than we thought possible, even after going over with old vacuum, and it just keeps finding more. It’s gotten my kids to enjoy vacuuming…that alone is a win :). Seriously though, we’ve cleaned the couches, the rugs, the mattresses, the hardwoods, gotten cobwebs & everything in between. Love the ability to pull the short handle, the long handle, switch tools quickly. It’s a great purchase.

A full-size vac and a portable cannister unit all in one. This vac has it all! I was able to take off the canister from the frame and carry it outside to my car for a good cleaning without the hassle of rolling the brush unit into my yard. With a quick snap and click it's all back together and ready to tackle carpets and hard floors, not to mention all the pet hair lurking inside of our house. Speaking of hair - anyone who has long hair knows the struggles of long hair getting wrapped around the brush of your vac - this vac takes care of it by basically cutting it free and letting it get pulled into the canister. My wife has long hair - my days of cutting hair out of the brush are over! Nice sturdy unit overall. I've never met a Shark device that I didn't like - I can see loving this one for years to come! Comes with all the standard attachments - corner cone, dust brush, and extension pole. Buy one - you won't regret it!

This is the BEST vacuum!!! Awesome power, works great. Easy to use! Wish I would have found it sooner!!!

As also an owner of a previous shark vacuum (and wanting an upgrade), this brand never disappoints. I like the lighting (looks like leds) on the vacuum so you can have visibility on dark areas. There are different levels of surface cleaning so if you’re home has both hard floors and piled carpeting, this is very ideal and convenient. Most of are home is carpet so we set it to that level. The vacuum does suck up and clean way everything and I like the fact there’s no maintenance much on the brush roll as it’s self cleaning. You can feel the power, but I’d have a good grip on it and As always you’d put your foot on the floor nozzle before tilting it back up in the upright position. For the price, it’s worth it and like I said, Ideal for homes with different levels of floor surfacing both hard and carpet or plush piled

This vacuum is powerful. It cleans down to the padding! Fluffs the carpet fibers so it makes even an old carpet look great. It is a bit heavy but it's definitely worth the money.

Incredible vacuum. I have two dogs who shed more than you'd think was possible and this makes cleaning so much easier. It's not too heavy, doesn't get tangled and is overall very powerful. I'd have to go over my rug 3-4 times to get up the dog hair with my old vacuum and only have to run over it once with this. Very pleased, and hoping it will hold up well in the years to come.

This vacuum surpasses all expectations that I had! This thing SUCKS, in a good way. I have two large dogs that shed almost constantly, this vacuum gets the hair up and doesn’t tangle without issue. The tank is super easy to empty and opens from the top and bottom so get all the dirt and hair out. I can’t say enough good things about this vacuum, oh and it’s cute!

T:his is easily the best vacuum I've ever owned and I've owned a LOT of them. My wife and I are kind of clean freaks and the suction on this vacuum is second to none. You can really see this in the rotating pet brush attachment. Also, because my wife has long black hair and one of our cats is also long hair, not having to worry about the hair wrapping around the brushes is a great feature. I like how easily you can switch from bare floors, to low pile/rug to shag carpeting. That has been a shortcoming in some of the other vacuums we've tried. I would highly recommend this vacuum, especially if you have pets.

This replaced an older Shark and the differences are fantastic! Easy to maneuver, switches easily from different carpet piles to hard floor. The dust cup is big and I can vacuum longer before emptying it. Excellent suction and the power fin brushrolls work well on deeper pile rugs. The washable components are easily removed for cleaning and the powered lift away is great for vacuuming steps. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
