    I use the simply safe security system. I was not expecting to pay an additional charge to add a camera. Best Buy was great in accepting the return. But there should be a warning in the product description.

    I would not buy one you have plug in outlet which makes it useless most of security system wireless which is great the only thing that you plug in is base station which has battery backup which is fine i would give system 5 star rating but this camera is really useless unless you have place plug in that you want to see

    Picture quality sucks. It came free with my simplisafe system. Better off with wyze cams.

    First, not good because to use all feature you must pay montly fees. Also the quality of the stream isn't that great.There is some delay and like I mentioned, you must pay if you want actual recorded video.Otherwise it is just live streaming.

    While the SimpliSafe alarm system is fabulous, the camera I could not get to work. See other reviews they are poor. Also it appears the camera needs a 2.4 GHz Wifi so make sure you have that (I do but it still didnt work).

    Will not stay connected to WiFi. Went and purchased a different brand to use and now I have this $100 camera sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

    I have had this camera installed for about a two weeks and I am not thrilled with it. First let’s discuss the cost, the camera will set you back $99.00 you might be able to find it on sale at a big box store. Once installed EACH camera will come with a 30 day free monitoring after that it will cost $4.00 for each camera. For what you truly get its way overpriced at best it should be a $20 camera because of the lack of simple features discussed below. Set-up- setting up this camera was very simple and took me less than 10 min. Simple. Video- it’s the most important thing isn’t it? Video quality is good however this camera has horrible camera lag, you can walk in front of it, and watch your phone you won’t see the action, go make dinner, have a drink, have desert, see a movie, look at your phone again and maybe by now it will show you walking in front of it (ok not that long but close) the lag is not acceptable! I have high speed internet in my house ( 50mps) I thought maybe this was my wifi problem so I installed a wifi range extender in the room where my simpli cam is and the result was the lag is now down to a 14 second lag, which doesn’t sound like that much but it is still too long. A thief could be in your home and disable the system before he would ever appear on video . Simpli safe does not even contact you unless the alarm is active for 30 seconds ! Video Storage- Simpli safe stores all video in the cloud accessible via the Simpli Safe app. There is no ability to add a micro SD card and I do not know how long they save stored events on their servers. At this price point it should offer both cloud and onsite storage. Adjustments- There are very few adjustments with this camera and all are done via the app. Basic adjustments are missing. Want to increase the sound? Can’t do it, want to zoom in? can’t do it, want to use two way talk? Can’t do it- there is no setting for this. I even contacted Simpli safe and they confirmed all of this. Mount- this camera only has one style of mount. It has to sit on a flat surface, no way to mount it on a wall. This limits where you can place it. Night mode- Night mode is very good, in fact mine is always in night mode (not my choice) I guess my rooms don’t have enough light. You can turn off night mode but then if you do the camera wont record anything at night. Frustrating Can I use it without Simpli Safe- No it only works with Simpli safe. Bottom line. This camera and the app are not ready for prime time, maybe by the 2nd or 3rd generation but right now it is not worth the money. There are MANY other wireless cameras to choose from that do not suffer the same setbacks as Simpli safe. Maybe Simplisafe will realize their camera’s shortcomings and allow companies that know how to make a camera integrate with the Simpli safe system. This camera was released out of Beta way to soon.

    We purchased the camera as part or a larger package. We were going to be away for an extended period of time and wanted to be able to monitor our home while we were away. About 3 months into our trip a power disruption caused our camera to go off line. We had to wait until we returned to reactivate the.camera by shooting a QR code. Simplysafe is the king of battery backup technology. Every other sensor uses a battery and the base station has a battery backup. Why this device has no way to maintain or restore a connection is beyond me. The rest of the system is good and well thought out. The camera, not so much. This may explain why they often offer a free camera to close the deal. When it does work the image quality is very good. As a practical matter it's a paperweight.

    This is a waste of money. My 1st Simplisafe camera failed after 1 month and was then replaced at no cost. However, the 2nd camera has failed to connect to the router after spending hours trying to set it up. The camera setup software will not even generate the QR code for the camera to read. I spent one 1 hr with customer support after waiting for over 30 minutes for my turn, but the setup was unsuccessful. I have 3 other cameras from different brands and the setup on each one took less than 1 minute; Each one of the other cameras read the QR codes and connected to the router with no problem.

    Sorry SimpliSafe the SimpliCam is a flop! The alarm system I love it. The cam can only be viewed from an app on your phone and you can’t barley make out who the person is unless they are on top of the camera and the delay…. It takes more than a minute from when someone walks in front of the camera until it shows up in the little window on your app. The being said I took it back to Best Buy and purchased the Arlo system.

    Ugh!! Not a real motion sensor!

    I have this camera inside my house looking out the window at my front door. I just spent an hour with the SimpliSafe support trying to figure out why I get no motion alerts or recordings unless i wave my hand directly in front exaggeratedly. The person transferred me to a supervisor who then told me that the camera only works based not on motion but on temperature changes within its area. So the motion sensor is not actually a motion sensor it’s a temperature sensor. So because the motion is happening on the other side of my window, even though it’s very clearly motion, the “motion sensor” won’t pick it up because there’s no temperature change. Brilliant. I am having a hard time believing this to be true and did not see that distinction made anywhere in the documentation. I don’t want to record my living room, I want to record people approaching my door. This is stupid! Thank goodness I still have my Wyze cam.

    This camera came free with the Simply safe system I bought. If I had bought it I would have returned it. The pic quality is ok but it needs a lot more work to have a stronger signal to router. I have a new model linksys router, I put this camera in my detached garage near a window it is about 75' away from the router. This camera spends way more time down than connected to the wifi. To me the purpose of a security camera is to catch someone on it but if it is not connected to your wifi than it can not do it's job. It might work better if I set the camera on top of the router but have not tried it, but at a distance of 75' forget it.
