SiriusXM Edge Dock & Play Radio

Same as the XM-Onyx, but w/ a color-screen, and it's Sirius XM 2.0 compatible Dock & Play Radio, that means it's the only XM-radio that can receive all of the New Channel-lineup up in the 300s, the 1st one I bought wouldn't stop booting up & powering down ( it was defective)
I exchanged it for another one w/ my 2 yr. protection-plan for $14.99
This radio is good, for an XM-Dock & Play Radio, but I don't think it's worth the $139 price-tag, be aware, some of these units might be defective..........for some piece of mind, better purchase a protection-plan

Extremely Stable & Reliable Unit!

This is an incredibly nice unit. I recently came from the SiriusXM Lynx and was quite disgusted after returning the third one I was on. That thing is a complete piece of junk and a waste of money. After going back to my old satellite radio, there was one thing that I missed on the Lynx - the extra channels it was able to receive. I really fell in love with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Radio Network, and SiriusXM Comes Alive. This was the only other radio available that would receive the extra channels. So, I decided to purchase the Edge and give it a test drive to see how reliable it would be.
Let me tell you, wow. I am very satisfied with my purchase and I will be keeping this unit for as long as it lasts. It is a very basic unit, but has an extremely impressive interface on it. You are able to view the preview guide in different categories and select how you want to see your channels (by channel name for category name). It's very fast and convenient to maneuver around the 170+ channels in the lineup! Edge breaks down all of these channels into different categories - which you can use the sideways arrows to navigate.
The large color-graphic screen is equally impressive. I never have a problem trying to read what's on the screen. Everything is displayed crystal clear and the font is large enough to read without being overly obtrusive. All of the background images are very clear with beautiful colors to them - something that even the Lynx does not have.
Signal strength is never an issue with this radio. Most people believe it's the radios fault for poor reception, when it's all about the antenna placement. If the antenna is placed in clear view of the sky, this radio has enough of a back-buffer that it never cuts out. The sound is crystal-clear, using the new SiriusXM compression technology inside of it. A good comparison would be going from regular sound to HD sound.
Sirius satellite radio will no longer be in 2016. They're shutting down their satellites, but leaving them in orbit as backups. Everything will be XM-based on the new 2.0 and even 3.0 transmission technology. (Rumors of renaming "SiriusXM" to "SeriousXM" are not without merit) In retrospect, I wanted to find a radio that I wouldn't have to get rid of in a few years. I do believe I have found the one.
The Edge does not ship with the remote, but it is available online through several retailers. I ordered one for $8.99 and it works flawlessly.
Overall, if you're looking for a very nice and reliable unit, I can highly recommend the Edge. For being somewhat of a basic radio, it really packs a punch for the end user.

Just bought mine today. I love it. wow I also bought a new speaker dock to go with it. It rocks in my book. Well worth it. The sound is there!!You wont be disappointed here.Just one big FYI. If you are a long time Sirius subscriber you cannot add it to your existing Sirius account. It is an XM radio so one has to open an XM account. I did and didnt bat an eye it was what I wanted and there are more channels here than meets the eye. To make it easy compare the channel line ups for all 3,XM ,Sirius and Sirius XM-The EDGE falls into this line up},you will see the difference.

Bought this radio to replace an older Delphi skyfi that stopped working. The radio is nice and sound quality is ok. The screen is is really nice as well untill you try to actually read what station you are on or trying to find. With such a nice screen you would think it would be easy to read, but I found myself squinting to understand what was actually written on the screen. If you don't know what the logo of your favorite station looks like its pretty hard to see while driving. A shame considering the screen is really nice. Fit and finish is a c+ good quality but not the best considering the price. Big down side is no remote. This should be standard with all radios, especially these days. My other pet peeve is no clock. Really... I guess this was too hard to impliment in the software programming. Not that my radio doesn't have one, but would still be nice. Another thing, my two other xm radios had sports tickers that scroll info across the screen. Not this one. New stations are ok doesn't make or break it for me. Rewind is nice though. Was one of the reasons I bought this radio as my previous radio had it as well. This radio could have been great. High price for a very basic radio.

Be careful when replacing older Sirius/XM units

Be VERY careful if you are a Siriux or XM customer before they merged. I was replacing my Sirius receiver and the sales person said that this unit was compatable with my programming package. WRONG!!! You will have to call Sirius and ASK them about Sirius ONLY receivers b/c they arent listed anywhere-even on THEIR website. I'm a lifetime subscriber and was made to pay a $75 transfer fee to activate this radio. After doing that, I found out that this receiver isnt getting the channels I signed up for (NASCAR/NFL) -their excuse is "something is wrong with their system and some of the new receivers arent getting all the channels". So before you purchase-CALL and see what options you have before you waste as much time as I did trying to get the same service I've had for years......

I really like it. It's easy to use, is good quality and does the job. Easy o install and setup. The two things I don't like about it isn't a tight fit on the mount. It rattles a tiny bit. The other thing is that the knob for turning the channels is slippery. It should be coated with rubber so you get a good feel of it.

I love the new channels, i bought it to replace my old XM XpressEZ radio.Sound is better than i though.I like the new screen menu, it shows clearly name of the artist, song and channel, better than my old radio.Another great feature that i found useful is that you are able to rewind radio programming if you want to.If you want to buy this radio to replace an old one, just wait until the price drops. But if you want to listen the new channels, like the new Latin channels, that pretty much cover every single genre, from ROCK En Espanol, POP-ROCK, REGIONAL MEXICANO, REGGAETON,SALSA, just buy it ,you won't regret it, is worth it, all the new channels offer new and old hits.

SiriusXM Edge Dock & Play Radio + PowerConnect™ Ve

I actually am enjoying siriusXM - have thought about getting it for a long time and was finally fed up listening to FM. The installation went well. I wanted the unit installed on my dashboard but the installer talked me into having it in a compartment on the console between the driver's and passenger's seats. Good spot for security reasons because there is a door that hides the unit. Other than that, the install was great. Now for the unit itself; excellent reception, easy to read screen but only wish it had more presets.....enjoying all those stations!!!!

Bought for my Ford pickup. Best Buy installation was money well spent. Only complaint would be the location of the power button. on top. It's easy to power it off when adjusting the angle of the mounting bracket. Not a big deal as it powers up quickly. Like the ability to pause and rewind.

I bought the Edge to replace my Sportster 5. The good is that the display is nice and the sound quality is good. It gets all the SiriusXM premium channels if you have that plan. The bad is the reception isn't really great, I'm a truck driver so I travel a lot. The selector knob is way too sensitive! Each time you turn it, it skips pass your selection. If it had a remote, which it doesn't, it would help. The display doesn't have a clock either. I take it in and out of the truck everyday and I think the vent mount connection is flimsy. I liked the suction cup/ window mount better. I guess I would have been more satisfied with the Edge if I wasn't replacing a way better radio.

I went from a 10 min. commute to an hour, hour-and-a-half commute and figured it was time to get XM again. It's been a few years since I've had it, and now they've merged.
I got this since it was the latest and can access the additional channels, which I have yet to access. The audio in option is so much better than the crummy FM modulator I had before.
The unit is nice looking, buttons are a little small but work just fine. The 'cover art' options are repetitive and kind of lame, but I'm not sure if it's the unit or the broadcaster responsible.
All things considered, I've had it a month now and no problems.

Running the antenna through the vehicle was the main work in order to dress the cable professionally under trim etc. Wire was thin and of ample length which made it easy. Finding clear station to use was OK until moving auto, then another had to be found to avoid static. Thought about getting the dock for home use which would probably be nice.

The first reason i got this was to have commercial free radio. well guess what. some stations still have commercials. ive had this thing for like 3 months i think. well in between wen i bought it and now i upgraded my speakers in my truck. now that i have better speakers the music sounded even worse. they could play all the noise in the music and it in general just has a tinny sound. now my biggest problem with the thing is the antenna. its made extremely cheap. yea its nice they give you way too much cable for it so if you have run it through a lot of places but the cable breaks extremely easily. it also getts horrible reception. under trees and bridges and even out in the open. it cuts out. I had the antenna break twice on me. this time its out of warranty so im sucked into once again spending even more money on this. But im not. IM DONE WITH SIRIUS. i went and tried to buy the better unit and it still isnt worth nearly 50$ especially since your gonna end up paying around 15 a month plus activation fees which are total bs. poor customer service also. and if your thinking of using the vent mount for it dont. it ended up breaking the fins on my vent i mounted it on. I would get pandora on a smartphone or an alternative like that instead. stay away from sirius.

Nice features and reception. I use it in the house and the car, and the display is bright and clear no matter what lighting it's in. More than 8 presets would be nice, but that's my only complaint, especially considering the price of this unit.

Poor Sound Quality

The sound quality is really bad. It sounds like a low bit-rate mp3.
I don't know if it is because this new Edge receiver uses the XM 2.0 sound stream and has more compression or not. (I have not compared it to another XM receiver).
Hard to describe the sound, but the best way I can, is to say that it is an empty sound with many important frequencies missing. It would be the opposite of a spacious sound. When you first start listening, you think it is going to be OK because the sound is very clean. But after a couple of minutes you realize that it is quite irritating.
Note that I am using the aux output (not FM).
I had been using a Sirius Sportster for years, in this same car (good quality BMW sound system with 600W amp). My Sirius Sportster sounded much better than this XM Edge receiver. So I went back to Best buy and got the Sirius Starmate 8 and it sounds great.

This unit is good except that it does not have a remote. You would think with the vehicle kit it should have a remote. It causes too much of a distraction to change the channel or anything else with this Unit while I am driving. It is o.k. if you just listen to one station but it is an accident waiting to happen if you have to change the station while driving. I returned this unit.

This is a very good SiriusXM Radio. I paid the $80 for the Best Buy Installation and it was worth it,
