Great speaker and easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought 2 Sonos one speakers with built in Alexa in December 2017 and have used them for a year now. They are awesome, we are buying one this Christmas for my dad so he can get a wider variety of his favorite music. Sometimes Alexa doesn’t understand you and you have to repeat. It has minor quirks like this, but is not to much of a problem. You sometimes have to put the band/artist into your phone app to find it if she just doesn’t understand. It is very easy to set up and use and the sound is great. I did not think it would sound this good from such a small speaker. I was looking at the Bose and my friend who installs speaker systems professionally told me to go with the Sonos. He has had NO customers call him to fix them or replace them with another brand because they are so reliable. We love ours and now listen to music a lot more and enjoy older bands that we used to have on cassette tapes, because it is so convenient to just tell Alexa to play it.

Almost perfect smart multiroom speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a pair of Sonos One after owning a single Sonos Play 1 for about 2 weeks. I though it didn't make sense to have a quality speaker but no stereo. The sound is good but not necessarily impressive (I own Bose, Yamaha, Bowers & Wilkins). Of course, sound quality is very subjective. One thing that people seem to agree on is that the lows are a little too much whit loudness on. When it's off, I find the lows to weak. I had to play with the equalizer to find a compromise. While I'm fairly happy with sound quality for the price, it's clear that there are better options out there. The reason why you may want these speakers is if you want to invest in multiroom listening. The multiroom experience is great (maybe the best today). You go from room to room and the music follows you with absolutely no lag. Unfortunately, there are 2 things I REALLY don't like about these speakers. First, they have no bluetooth or aux in. This doesn't make sense to me. Because of that, I cannot use them as speakers for my TV and now I have two sets of speakers in my living room. And because I already have a set for my TV and that my TV stand is already crowded, I had to find another spot for the Sonos. And this spot is not in front of me when I'm on my couch. What does it take to add an aux in to a speaker??? An issue I had with the Sonos Play 1 is that although they were Alexa compatible, you needed an echo device to use voice control. Now you can directly control the Sonos One. However, I noted that the microphones are not as good as my 2nd gen echo. This is very frustrating at times, even in quiet.

No Contest between Amazon's Echo and the Sonos One
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got an Amazon Echo for Christmas. Not a bad product - but the sound quality was just so so. As I searched the internet for ways to possibly improve the sound quality - I dumbed into the Sonos One - with Alexa (not Sonos play1). I read many reviews and was intrigued. So I decided to purchase the Sonos One (an open box at 159.00). Whata steal! After side by side comparisons - there was no contest. The Sonos One had "knock your socks off" tight bass and mid & upper clarity. The amazon product was returned and credited without a hitch - reason for return - music quality was not as expected. You will see people bashing the Sonos One because it lacks a little of the functionality found on the Echo - Big Deal - I'll take music sound quality any day. I have Amazon Prime - and access to their music - do I really need their unlimited music for extra cost - nope! I can #via voice# control music on Amazon, Iheart, Pandora and Tunein - all at no cost. The Sonos App #available for free on all the platforms# integrates all of your music - in one place. It also allowed my to provide a location on my laptop where I had a moderate library of 2000 songs. So, I have access to more music than I can really handle. My laptop #running WIndows 8.1# sits on our kitchen peninsula and with the Sonos App - complements my voice control. If I select music on my laptop #not yet controllable via voice - but coming soon# - I still have the ability to command Alexa to play Next, Previous, Pause, and Volume. Meanwhile - I can only imagine what 2 Sonos One's paired into Stereo mode could sound like - maybe next Christmas. Additional comments: the lack of Bluetooth has not been an issue. The music runs through our Wi-Fi wireless network #at 2.4# without a hitch and there is also the option to plug an ethernet cable into the Sonos One. The Sonos One setup was a bit involved - but only a one time thing, Advise - read the instructions and view a few Youtube videos before firing from the hip.

Great speakers, so so Alexa support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speakers sound great - especially setup in a pair. A bit on the expensive side. There are just too many Alexa integration issues though: new features rolled out by Amazon are often not supported or take too long to support and the biggest issue of all - you cannot change the wake word. So many TV programs use that word (Alexa), so you regularly get false wakings. I found that changing my original Amazon device to "echo" almost completely eliminated the issue. I have since removed Alexa from my Sonos pair, use the App to play music and now say "echo" to my original Amazon Alexa that I re-installed. Looking into the nitty gritty on Amazon, Sonos is NOT prevented from changing this (they used to be) but apparently can't due to hardware or firmware limitations.

Didn't work for me - cannot create stereo pair
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speaker sounded Great, however my need was the following. I already have a Play 1 and I wanted another speaker to create a Stereo pair, and eliminate one of my Echos all in one pop. First the speaker had the sound that one would expect, and perhaps even had slightly better bass than my Play 1, however for whatever reason, you cannot create a stereo pair with this and the older play 1, and this was a deal breaker for me. On a side note all of the echo functions did not properly work via this speaker. There may have been more setup required on my part, but since the above was a deal breaker I did not take this issue any further. I would note that it was in my echo app along with all of my other echo devices. I have returned and have ordered the older play 1. the next addition will be the play bar and I'm looking forward to that in the near future

Good for early adopters but needs update version
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is still not very user friendly. I use Alexa for news and books and non Amazon music skills and as of November the software is buggy and not user friendly. That said, it is so much better sound then the echo. It's wonderful and even though I would not encourage a friend to purchase I would love to purchase a second one so I can have stereo sound. I like it but boy it took an hour to set up.

Missing Full Amazon Echo Integration
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Purchase was based on SONOS Research however I did not realize that the SONOS was not fully featured, not fully integratable when it came to Amazon Echo with other Amazon Echos.. Returned to Best Buy.... Return Process was frustrating in that I couldn't Cancel my Order beyond 30 Minutes even though the Wording on the Best Buy WWW Site led me to think differently...... Thank You

Great speaker-Alexa, not so much
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sonos make a great sounding speaker but the Alexa integration is sketchy at best and very frustrating. I don't blame it all on Sonos though. Just be prepared that if you happen to have an Echo device, there will be major conflicts, such as talking to the Sonos and the result playing on the Echo. Get it for the speaker and wait a few months to even think of using it with voice capabilities.

Sounds great. Alexa app an epic fail
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a soundbar, sub, and two Ones, to be used in other rooms. The Sonos app installed fine, but the Alexa app is not ready for use, at least not in a Mac ecosystem. I've used all the troubleshooting advice on the Sonos user boards and submitted a trouble report. Have uninstalled, reinstalled, and gone through setup multiple times on iMac, iPad, iPhone and Samsung tablet. The Alexa app does not 'discover smart devices' even though I have enabled the Sonos and Nest skills, and have linked Alexa to my proper Amazon account. Today I got a 'Welcome to beta testing' email from Sonos. I would not have purchased full-price hardware, only to provide free beta testing. Do I want to wait a year to see if they iron out the wrinkles? Maybe. I'm tempted to return the two Ones. They're half-baked at best. Sound great, but don't expect Alexa to function.

Great Sound
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sonos One has typical sonos great sound, but the integration of Alexa really mess this speaker up. I’ve been waiting on this concept for years, but in actuality it’s not a good overall product. It doesn’t work at all for me. Tried everything. At least it’s the same price as the old play 1. If the play 1 was at least $10 dollars cheaper, I would recommend the play 1.

Great sound HUGELY disappointing Alexa Experience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start out by saying that this is our third Alexa device so we are used to a great user experience. This unit has great sound but it has terrible Alexa integration. It is hard to wake with the Alexa keyword. It does not hear you half the time, even after the most recent firmware update from Sonos. We also have a lot of random playback issues. Occasionally you will ask to play a song and Alexa will confirm, then nothing happens. Another issue is that it will sometimes just play one song then pause. You can hit play or tell Alexa to play again but it will keep happening until you give up and try again later. Do yourself a favor and wait until the second generation of this product.

Have Sonos? Get This Alexa.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are already a Sonos user, then adding Alexa via the Sonos One is a great idea. On the other hand, if you are already using Amazon Echo then you might find this version of Alexa to be lacking.

Great tiny wireless speaker.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a music lover, and also techno geek. I'm eager to try this tiny monster for a while. I feel regret that I should get these speakers earlier. It's a good tiny speaker when set up as one. But I was blown away when it paired as stereo. It's one of the best decision I've made buying techno things.

Sonos speaker is a good as always, but Alexa integ
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I added this Sonos One to my existing Sonos system and paid extra for the Alexa integration, which is so limited as to be almost non existent. Alexa skills are limited to basically playing Amazon music, basis pause/play commands, and answering the usual questions about weather, etc. None of the additional Alexa skills available work. Alexa will acknowledge your request, sometimes ask for relevant responses programmed for the skill, then announce that it will begin, and nothing happens but silence. I have seached endlessly throughout the web and everyone else is seeking help for this problem to no avail. Neither Sonos nor Amazon seem to be in a hurry to fix the problems. I also have a WD MyCloud Home NAS storage with the Alexa integration. Again, Alexa acknowledges the request to play my music, says what will be playing, and then silence. Hopefully Sonos/Amazon will step up to the plate soon and fix the problem. This is an expensive device and should either be fixed or not sold until it works properly.

Good sound, but 1 major flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality is great, and having Alexa built in is a plus. One really annoying flaw is that you cannot add this one to a Echo group to share whole home music.

Almost a 5
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It, as a whole, is great. Unfortunately, Alexa could use a visit to an ENT. She's a bit hard of hearing. If you didn't have to speak so loudly to be recognized, the score would be 5.
