Enjoy accurate acoustics with this Sonos One (Gen 1) speaker. It connects to your home Wi-Fi network to stream digital music, and has Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant built-in for hands-free voice control of your music and other apps.
Q: What Alexa capabilities does it not support?
A: Description says it supports everything that echo does but now that I have one I can see that it does not. You can not play on multiple speakers unless they are all Sonos (tried group option but speakers not available). You can not drop in on the speaker or use as intercom. You can not change the wake word from Alexa like with the Dot. Perhaps these will be fixed with a future software update. There might be more but that is what I found today on release date.
Q: Does it have Bluetooth connectivity?
A: No, this does not have bluetooth connectivity.
Q: Is this the latest Sonos Alexa wireless speaker ? Do I need a music subscription to use it ?
A: No you don't need a subscription to use them, you can use any files you own, add your free Pandora or use several of the free stream app supports.
A: Yes. We have sonos soundbar, sub and many sonos. I’ve added the sonos one. It’s nice to be able to change the volume or song just by talking to your speaker. Any sonos is very compatible with other sonos.
A: I believe you can only pair the Sonos One with other Sonos One.
A: NO you don't need to own an Echo for your speaker to connect to Alexa. Alexa comes with your speaker and is already built in. yes you can control your speaker hands free.
Q: Can I stream Apple music without using AirPlay?
A: Yes, you can play straight from Apple music and just select which or all of the speakers to play. You can use the Sonos app to play Apple music also.
A: We tried both and are far happier with the Sonos system. We love the deep resonate sound and the ability to easily add to the system over time.
