Fantastic Receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4k is the new wave and it was time to upgrade. This receiver was a great value for all that it does. Interface with Sony TV with ARC tech is great. Bluetooth connection from any device is super easy and the best thing since sliced bread. on screen menus are a must have and this delivers. Simple set up with auto calibration of sound levels

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can not use Netflix through it I have to use the tvs speakers. I have learned to just turn on the tv an go to Netflix to watch it. Did not like no user manual with it hade to go to the internet to find out how to set it up which was not very clear.

Good sound/video and easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Sony primarily to get surround sound, play DVDs and music CDs, and listen to FM radio. I had previously tried a Pioneer receiver with WiFi, that I was not necessarily planning to use. The Sony unit is so much simpler and intuitive to use. Even without the center speakers I get much more dialogue audio out of the other four speakers that the Pioneer would not deliver.

Run Away
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unit failed the first time I turned it on. When I returned it. No one apologized or offered to find me something else. So, I went elsewhere and bought a Denon.

Great sound quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent sound quality - I bought it for a great surround experience when watching Blurays and this is perfect. The manual isn't great but I thought it was easy enough to setup anyway (then again I'm well familiar on how to setup this kind of device). The controller doesn't have that many options - which can be a plus as using it is very easy. Recommended.

Great receiver for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to upgrade my 10-year-old Yamaha receiver with something that had HDMI inputs and supported 7.1 audio. This receiver fits the bill, and then some. It fits its price range well, with 2 subwoofer inputs, 7 speaker inputs (which support bi-amp speakers,) 145 watts per speaker channel, 4 HDMI inputs, 2 optical audio inputs, 4K passthrough, an included mic for auto-calibration, and NFC/bluetooth connectivity for iOS & Android devices (streaming music, adjusting volume/EQ settings.) Setup was generally easy out of the box -- the auto-calibration feature worked really well, with only minimal tweaking necessary. However, I docked a star for a few reasons having to do with convenience. Connecting the speakers is a pain unless you are using banana clips. The remote is touted as "simple," but really, it lacks some key buttons, such as the bluetooth pairing button (you need to get up and press it on the receiver if you want to pair a device.) The on-screen UI is nice to have, but incredibly plain, and many options are too vague. The LCD display is very small, and many of the things it displays are impossible to distinguish unless you are a foot away. The included manual really skimps on the details, perhaps to save paper. All in all, many of these complaints are mere nuisances, since once you've got it all set up after an hour or so, you don't really need to worry about the on-screen menu being vague, and setup being slightly confusing unless you're capable of configuring a home theater system in your sleep. I only docked one star for this, on an otherwise awesome product. I am very pleased with it -- my speakers craved the extra power -- and they've never sounded better.

Easy Set Up, Great Sound!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been a 2 channel audiophile for most of my adult life. I've purchased a 5 channel system a few years back, hooked it up and just could not make the switch. I returned it and was content to be a 2 channel guy for what I thought would be forever. Fast forward to earlier last week, we had bought a new 4K HD TV and figured if I was going to have a HD picture why not at least consider having HD sound in the room to go with it, right? Unboxed this little gem yesterday morning and spent most of day stripping wire and hooking up speakers, 9 in all, I split the center channel in two due to the room size and configuration plus a sub. This unit comes with this little gizmo you plug in to balance the sound calibration to your room once everything is connected, that was a real time saver. Plugged in a movie, Apollo 13, WOW!

Nice reciever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the features of this receiver. Has blue tooth capabilities and is easy to connect to devises. I would highly recommend getting on line to access the manual as it does not come with the unit. It only has simple set up instructions.

Good but could be better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted this because I have a Sony TV and I wanted the receiver to be the same brand for the Bravia interface. The set up was not as intuitive as I had expected as this is not my first rodeo. Every time I go to the website to get the manual I get their question and answer page and it's not helpful. I understand saving money by not printing the manual but at least make it easy to access online. I downloaded SongPal and my Phone connects via Bluetooth but no sound comes out. If the troubleshooting website was actually helpful I would check there. Once you get it set up it's very easy to use and the sound is great. I don't have super expensive speakers but I'm getting great results out of this combo.

Excellent reciever that provides nice features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a better home theater receiver that would give me better sound balance in our living room. I replaced a Yamaha RX-V65 receiver. While the Yamaha was a good receiver, it seemed like I always struggled to get clear voice in movies. I tried multiple scenarios, but nada. I first purchased a Denon E-300 at Best Buy. It had some nice features and amazing sound as well. But it too was a challenge to get good balance between voice and surround sound. While it gave me control over dialog, the surround sound was overpowering. I also didn't like the way HDMI-CEC worked with my Samsung TV. They could never handshake properly. I could never get Apple Airplay to work either. So the good people at Best Buy let me exchange the Denon for the Sony STR-DH750. It gave me the balance i was looking for without too many choices. It made it simple and to the point. The voices were clear with just enough surround sound. The bass was in balance too. Yes after auto-calibrating i still had to do some tweaking like change my speakers to small with crossovers for center at 100hz and the rest at 80hz., adjust bass, treble, enable auto volume, and adjust movie mode to PLIIx. Movies and TV never sounded better. When it comes to playing music from your cell phone, Bluetooth is a whole lot easier to setup vs Airplay. About the only negative is that it doesn't have network capability, but they are so many other devices that you could connect if you really wanted it for Pandora, Spotfy, etc... I'm now considering getting an extra sub and two back speakers to enhance the amazing sound I already have.

Fairly good mid-level receiver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this unit like many others to replace an older receiver that lacked HDMI connections. The unit I replaced is a 20-year-old Sony that would not die. One thing about this unit unlike many others is that you have to have the TV on to set it up. Also - after 3 months I experienced what I thought was a failure - no HDMI output. Google found many others that have had the same problem. On a hunch I decided to do a reset (NOT documented in the poor instruction manual) and this cured the problem. Sound is excellent and plenty of power.

Great Great Great
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Sony is Great, the power that it has and how well it upscals everything that is conneted to it. I love the fact that you can adjust the settings of your center, sub, rear front and back speakers, thats a plus cause some other receivers u cant adjust the speakers after the mic sound setting that adjusts them for you. I had to return my Denon beacuse you were not able to adjust to your liking.

Almost there
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this as a compliment to a new 4K system, and it is everything it's is billed to be. Would have given 5* but, when initially powering on, the device sets to the Input it wants, rather than the one that is designated in the setup. Other than that annoyance, top notch.

Great value. Great design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you look at receivers you think they would all be the same or very similar. Well it's hard to know how each brand works unless you play around with them in the store, but they are never hooked up for that. I originally bought a pioneer vxs 824k because it was on sale and had an msrp of 400. I thought it would be superior to the $350 Sony but was I wrong. The menu was very limited and dumbed down too much. The Sony blew me away at how easy it was to set up and so easy to navigate through the menu and change settings such as renaming the inputs to Xbox one or apple TV. Sony has always made great home Theatre products and they definitely know how to do it right. The NFC works on the iPhone 6 to easily pair Bluetooth. Wi-Fi or ethernet hook ups are not necessary. The display stays black when not using and works great, the pioneer had little red lights on the front and were distracting when it sits right below the TV in the cabinet. The remote also has been very simplified and works great. Most of the buttons on others are hardly used and clutter these remote. Very satisfied with this Reciever.
