Bought this to replace my older Sony receiver . The set up was very easy. Would have liked atleast a small manual, but not necessary. The remote is a major upgrade. The sound is crystal clear, hearing things In have never heard before. Great reviever at a great price.

Purchased this Sony Receiver on Black Friday, got it, set it up, went to configure it and realized it was missing the remote & manual. Went to BB online for live chat, only to be told they were not authorized to send a replacement and we needed to call Customer Service. Called CS and was told the only way to send us a remote was to buy it for $35 and then they would reimburse us (don't get that logic!). Asked to speak with a manager and was told one would not be available until later that afternoon and for us to call back. Needless to say, we are NOT happy! Will be boxing it up and returning to our local store. As for the Sony Receiver, sounds great and is exactly what we need. Found the same receiver from a competitor and will be purchasing it from them instead due to the poor customer service.

Once the receiver is on, the sound quality and technical aspects are good. The major complaint is when the receiver turns on, it finds the correct HDMI input to output, but after 10 seconds it switches to a TV input (which there is none on the back of the unit) and the sound shuts off. Each time the receiver starts up, you have to wait 10 seconds for the unit to switch to the wrong input and then manually switch it to the correct one. This gets a little annoying.

Very easy set-up, powerful output and a great price.

The only reason I gave this receiver a 4 star rating is because I haven't tried the 3D viewing feature...yet. What prompted me to purchase this receiver is the fact that I upgraded from the XBOX 360 to the XBOX One. You can always count on Sony to make the install easy. I recommend this item.

It powers my Bose 5.1 speaker system with no problem . I like using Bluetooth from cell phone/ iPad it sounds clear and good bass no distortion. Movies sound great clear voice and good bass with no bass distortion like some of box sets have .Bose system I have is on sale now for $699 get both of this for great sound .

I purchased this after my Yamaha Receiver died after 18 yrs. of continuous use..was going to purchase another Yamaha...but this receiver had bluetooth, usb connection for my iPad Air, and multiple speaker connections...using it just to listen to music on iPad and xm....so i cannot comment on the tv/video aspects...It has a clean, powerful sound...much better than my old receiver...using book shelf speakers(polks) and they sound better than ever!!!! Classical music sounds great...clean and pure...Sony quality appears to be back! Time will tell...stay tuned...

I purchased the receiver for my home theatre. I connected Klipsch speakers and effect is amazing. The controls are simple and remote is easy to use. I wish it was wifi capable. Overall great sound quality.

I purchased this receiver for the so I can upgrade to HDMI inputs. This is the 3rd Sony receiver I have purchased in the last 15 years and it is by far the best. I normally buy the top of the line Sony receiver however this time i figured I would but the budget one and i have not been disappointed. The sound is crisp and are clear even when cranked to MAX.

*Note that I have to return the first one as it was defective* I replaced my old Onkyo 606 with this since I didn't need the extra features, just needed some good sounds for gaming and movies, and this one did just that. The sounds are good and the easy setup was pretty accurate. You can't customize the sound setting as much as other receivers and the instructions are lacking. Had to view complete instructions online. Overall the sounds are clear (I get better sound to my center now) and each speak deliver enough of a punch for me.

I bought this receiver to use for its A+B speaker capability to play music on outdoor speakers and/or indoors. The only thing that is trick about it is finding the right settings that work because the booklet isnt helpful and only certain settings allow for the use of the B speakers only. Its hard to figure it out because you need to change certain settings in the menu and keep checking to back to see if the receiver will now "open" the availability of other capabilities that were previously not allowed. One you configure thought the system is great.

Bought this for Christmas for my husband. He had a "top of the line" receiver for it's day but was in need of an updated model. This fit the bill. He was thrilled and surprised. Easy to hook up and delivers great sound.

I use this for my surround sound hooked up to my 55" Sony 3D tv. It was an open box item for $159.99 and it is great for someone starting out. There are four floorstanding LG speakers, one mid channel LG speaker, one small LG subwoofer and a 600 watt Acoustic Audio subwoofer hooked up to it. I've had no troubles hooking them up or setting up the way I liked it. Only time consuming thing was running wires around my room but that wasn't hard. No problems so far from everyday use

This receiver does a nice job if you are not looking to blow the doors down, and I am especially happy with 40% Discount over the Holidays.(at Retail Price I probably would have gotten a different brand). Basic setup is simple, but beyond that you need to download and spend some time reading the full operating manual -- 269 pages! -- for all the different modes and setup options Also, I would be impossible to operate this without placing near your TV for On Screen Display.(which may be common these days). This Receiver is not good choice If you are looking for a "stand alone" stereo to listen to music only,

Great receiver, but you're not going to be able to use HDCP 2.2 protocol HDMI cables, aka the NEW 4K STANDARD. So if you're outputting 4k video, you need to look elsewhere.

Great Receiver but may need to bring it back because I can not figure out how to set up A/B option. It is advertised and spec'ed to have his option but instructions are so limited I can not figure it out. I have a Sony sound bar with sub woofer connected to it and a 4K Sony tv. But I need to also connect a pair of speakers on my deck so I can listen just outside on a B switch. Will try a few times but then return. Best Buy guy who delivered TV simple said he did not think it had A/B but spec clearly states it.

Paired perfectly with my 10 yr old Acoustimas 10 . To make it 7.2 channel , i just add a pair of Polk speaker , and it sounds amazing. Thanks Sony and Best Buys

I bought this receiver to replace an Onkyo receiver that stopped working properly. I was easy to install and set up. It sounds great as well. I am trying to figure out how to keep the audio setting (cinema, jazz, rock, etc.) matched with the output (TV, Blue Ray, iPod). When I first started it up I was listening to music (audio setting on music), but when I watched my first movie I had to switch the audio to "cinema". I hope I will be able to set it up that I won't have to change both settings.

Use receiver for 2 channel audio only utilizing a vinyl platter. A lot of features for the price. Sound quality is really good for a small room. The sound quality is just as good as compared to my previous Onkyo receiver but with many more features provided. Only gripe would be no printed manual.
