Little complex to setup, but well worth it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the majority of the setup is simply done on-screen, there are still a few options that aren't explained in enough detail in the manual or the on-screen menus, such as "Speaker Pattern". Luckily a quick Google search will fix that... Once everything you have is hooked up with HDMI connections, turning on your Blu-Ray player will automatically turn on the Receiver and your TV, at least mine did since everything I have is Sony...

Disappointed - my old receiver is better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased receiver to replace old Sony receiver, I wanted the Bluetooth option. Overall disappointed with this unit and returned it. This unit does not have bass boost, my 14 yr old receiver does and it really pounds through 15in speakers, this receiver does not have near the bass. This unit also does not have the ability to shut off the sound fields, I hate the sound field effects (hall, concert, dolby, stadium, etc) so I always shut it off on my old receiver, music sounds better to me with the effects off. The Bluetooth feature works and pairing was easy with my iPhone, but you can't switch to Bluetooth from the remote, you have to go to the receiver and press a button to turn it on, seriously, there is no button on the remote to select Bluetooth. The remote is useable and simple, but it requires you to make most all changes through the television, even the receiver itself has few buttons. You have to use the television to setup preset radio stations which takes a lot of time. You can't even select a preset station on the remote, you have to keep hitting up/down to get to your desired preset, that can be a pain when you have a lot of preset stations to click through. Adjusting the equalizer requires the television. Overall the sound quality is terrible, my 14 yr old receiver beats it, and the simplicity of the remote and lack of buttons make this unit more difficult to operate.

Great Receiver But...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was much disappointed to learn after purchasing this receiver that it has to be hooked up to your television's cable/satellite box in order to adjust the systems equalizer (bass & treble) and that it can't be done through the receiver alone. Other than this drawback, great receiver, I love it!

Don't buy or buy the Extended Warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this two years ago because I thought it was a great bargain. Compared to the other brands, this Sony has a lot of features for less money. Against my better judgment, I bought this receiver. A year into it, the pass-through started acting up. My DirectTV signal would not make it through the receiver to the TV at first turn on. My TV would turn itself off and on multiple times before the signal would show and sound would come out (the receivers HDMI control). I disconnected the receiver and everything worked great. A few months later, my HDMI inputs were not functioning. Swapping multiple inputs(computer, DirecTV, and bluray player with all the HDMI inputs on the receiver), HDMI cables and TV inputs and could not get sound to come out of the speakers. Stereo and Bluetooth work fine, but all the HDMI inputs are no bueno. I've had 2 point and shoot Sony cameras fail in a year, one blueray player fail to load in one year, and one DVD/VHS recorder fail to play DVDs in less than a year. I should have known better. I guess it's back to Onkyo for me. Sony has reliability issues.

Perfect!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is really easy to use, comes with a remote and will not let you down! Everything that is on the system is straightforward and would be easy to use for people who are not used to these types of systems (aka: Me.)

Does it work?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went against the grain and purchased this product after reading the negatives reviews. To my surprise, I was happy with the product. I say was because recently, after a bit more than a month, the receiver has begun to malfunction. It keeps kicking my Direct Tv receiver off line and will only work again after I turn off all power and restart it again. It's becoming very mundane and tideous to do this so often. I will think twice about purchasing any Sony product again as they have been no help either once I called them. It was a big too bad for you.

was hard to set up at 1st
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.we have surround sound speakers w/ a subwoofer that did not have a seperate outlet for power and it was pushing out too much power when we turned it up so the receiver kept shutting off. We tried to turn that feature off but could not figure it out, so we ended up buying an diff subwoofer that plugs into the outlet and it works great, does not blow anymore

**DO NOT BUY**
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this unit is NOT HDCP 2.2 compliant. what does this mean? you will NOT i repeat ***NOT**** be able to watch 4k from a connected roku, upcoming 4k bluray players, or any other 4k device. it is 100% not worth buying this model under any circumstance. i bought this before i knew what HDCP was, and its basicly the largest paperweight i own now.

Dolby Digital Plus does not work.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You have to send to factory to get an update. It's not just Netflix. It's a problem with Dolby digital plus. All digital plus content is distorted, doesn't work, or sounds like a tunnel, or unclear and heavily compressed. You don't send it to Sony, you send it to their repair center which is in New York. This is the company they use. Don't waste your time on calling sony. They will give you the run around and their call takers don't know about the problem. Give united radio a call and you can get a fix. http://www.unitedradio.com/consumer-electronics/ Here's the forum link straight from Sony engineers about the problem. This page has the solution to the problem and it can't be fixed by a firmware update from a USB. http://community.sony.com/t5/Home-Theater-Products/Dolby-Digital-Plus-incompatability-Netflix-sound-distortion-STR/td-p/307734/page/7 And honestly if you have a blu ray player able to decode then use that before the Bitstream. Basically the receiver trys to decode the dd+ signal and it can't. But if you decode it before from say a blu ray player or a ps4 then the receiver then retrieves the PCM signal instead of the Bitstream if you change the respective options on said devices. Chromecast does not have this setting so all dd+ content that you cast does not work properly. Netflix, now hbo go, and some vudu movies. Stereo content sounds great! Most Netflix content has the option To switch. Here's the official q&a from Sony to switch to stereo content which to me is unacceptable. http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/faq/STR-DH750 « I have a warranty for this product still and I don't know where my receipt is. I don't want to send it to new York because that is a long way to ship , and if something happens im out a receiver. Sony should have seen this defect and corrected it. I'll just have to wait until something better comes along, I should've known the deal I got when it was the last in Stock.
