I'm not going to lie but at the beginning there was a bunch of times were the screen was freezing and glitching when using apple carplay but I later found out that if you use a 3rd party iPhone charger it will glitch out because I bought the original charger from BestBuy and had no glitches whaatsoever.I would definitely recommend this stereo.

I use my “Car Play” from my IPhone 12. I have upgraded to 18.3 with no issues. The front usb port is a plus to load a drive with MP3s. The tuner is quick with no static on all FM programmable stations. Only drawback is hard to read in bright sunlight. The Home Screen provides a large clock. I highly recommend. Installed by Geek Squad.

Good Features with Apple Car Play

Owned for 10 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking to replace my Honda's manufacturer stereo system for my CRV, and quickly caught onto the XAV-AX1000. Also, having Apple's CarPlay feature is the best touch. Screen works well and the sound quality is really good as well. It's definitely a no frills model. The volume is different between Bluetooth audio, Apple CarPlay audio, and the radio. So you can't set-and-forget the volume if you rotate between different audio sources often. Having a dial for the volume makes this an easy adjustment - but I wish I didn't have to make the adjustment at all.

The Apple CarPlay works great as long as you use an authentic apple lightning cord. Early on I had issues with the clock keeping proper time and a bad static like sound when using CarPlay. I made some adjustments on my phone and fixed the clock issue in settings. Now the only issue I have is the glare on the screen.

Installed at Best Buy. Was installed quickly 1.5 hours, staff was pleasant, knowledgeable. Receiver has great sound with stock 2013 GMC Sierra speakers. Plan is for new speakers in future but overall happy with purchase and Best Buy service.
