Fits flush and is a good upgrade Cons- no off switch. You cant turn it off unless you turn off the car. Ive never seen such a thing which leads to problem 2. Since i dint have a backup cam sometimes it goes to video mode when i backup, eventhough it is bypassed as it should be, and it will not go back to regular mode. Fortunately i have found if you plug in your phone and go to carplay it will exit video mode. Other than that it is fine.

Huge disappointment

I put a Pioneer in my other car and had a few issues with how it reads files from the USB and the tiny volume buttons so I thought I would try Sony this time. The volume knob is great, exactly what I was looking for and the touch screen is SLIGHTLY better, but everything else is worse. It doesn't seem to support more than one phone. So every time drivers switch we have to set up the bluetooth connection again unless we want to plug in and use carplay. The wireless carplay dongle I got for my other car is not supported on the Sony. It also won't support a USB hub so that I can plug in a USB stick along with a USB cable. When I first put my music USB in it worked fine. But now I get an error saying there are no playable files. If you just want plug-in carplay functionality you'd probably be alright with this. But there are better options in the same price range.

We understand your frustration with the Bluetooth connectivity and the lack of support for multiple phones. The XAV-AX1000 is designed to provide seamless connectivity, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. The easy way to switch the phone connected is to turn off the Bluetooth connection on the connected phone and select to connect from the other phone. No need to pair again or setup again.
Regarding the wireless CarPlay dongle and USB hub support, the XAV-AX1000 has specific compatibility requirements, and we regret that it did not meet your needs in this aspect. For the issue with the USB music files, it might be helpful to reformat the USB drive and ensure the files are in a supported format.

Radio great, installation not so much.

The free installation, however, I am still waiting for. After an appointment fell through ( tech was very nice but ran out of time), I had to settle for one at a Best Buy 50 miles away, and a month and a half later.

Connecting to car play is sometimes slow but all it needs is a plug out and plug back in to get it going. I rate it a 9/10!
