The system works good once you hook it up, but be warned it you attempt to install it yourself. It's not straight forward and finding detailed instructions are a challenge.

It didn't say it had to be plugged in to use the android auto or Apple features. And i think the guy who put it in messed something up cause it smells like something is burning.

Randomly shows different times. Randomly have to restart truck so head unit resets as sometimes you will get a black screen.

Had to bring it g back not very user friendly I hope Sony starts to improve there software for everything with quicker updates

Slow screen response. When Bluetooth and usb are connected are not working well. Disconnect Bluetooth, but automatically connect again.

Plenty of room for improvement had to return the item to get a pioneer system not user-friendly microphones not working properly

Like it but there are some interface issues...youtube this model to see if it's what you need.

Works ok, sometimes ir doesn’t recognize the usb is connected, and u have to connect it again.

I don't like this head unit. The interface is VERY slow and out dated.

I must say that I am very impressed with this Sony receiver. This was the 1st time I have ever purchased a double din/video receiver. The market has always been overwhelming to me in regard to finding the best/easiest to use. After all my research, I decided to go with this Brand New Sony unit (did not have a lot of reviews yet) which had the #1 feature I wanted: Google Maps on the screen (I was tired of holding the phone in my hand). Android Auto was my answer! The price was well below other Android Auto/Car Play units because this unit does not have a DVD drive. That's OK by me...I've loaded a thumb drive full of media and it plays all flawlessly. It is also very basic and simple settings to navigate...which is key when on the road. Bottom line, this unit is a great Android Auto unit and Sony is doing the things to renew it's reputation as the premier electronics leader is still known for.

This is an awesome, affordable CarPlay unit. And it's a great choice to drop into a Volvo. What I mean is Volvo aesthetics dictate that any aftermarket radio will cheapen the look of the car. So when my HU-850 radio died in my 2006 XC70 I was faced with buying questionable used or paying $1100 installed from my dealer. For a radio that was cutting edge 12 years ago (dinosaur)!!! It looked good, but outdated and overpriced. This Sony unit is so understated and non-blingy (especially for a full display unit) that with the installed dashboard bezel it looks like it was designed for Volvo. Very happy. The bad was that I lost the back up sensors (which were fairly lame) and it couldn't be hooked up to the Volvo external amplifier (but the Sony is super powerful) and I lose the front center channel (never an issue). Also steering wheel hookup is a bit more, BUT at a crazy low price BestBuy did an awesome install job. This unit is more powerful than my old one. It also has a Sony DSO setting that creates the sound direction from in front (so the center channel thing is unmissed). I now have a powerful great sounding super-cool CarPlay unit that destroys my old one AND looks like it belongs in my Volvo Cross Country. I can make phone calls, hands-free text, listen to Spotify and have GPS all active. I don't think that I'll miss my old radio.

This unit is the closest to perfection in my opinion. Very sleek and minimalistic. The sound is great, simple and easy to use, apple carplay/android auto, and last but not least a VOLUME DIAL! This unit does all the essential functions of a modern unit at a super affordable price. Android auto is super responsive and completely transformed my commutes, google maps works exceptionally well on it. No issues thus far. Realistically I'm giving this 4.5 star our of 5 for a few things. 1. I wish the illumination color of the physical buttons as well as the fonts on the screen could be changed to match different vehicle interiors. 2. Screen could be bigger while still maintaining the volume knob

Very simple and easy to use. Love the fact its able to be updated via USB and how clean the interface is. Very user friendly. Would definitely recommend this product or any other Sony radio for that matter.

This unit worked fine. no complaints. mostly used for android audio. it went out without a warning 4.5 years later around may of 2023. so it lasted about 4 years and some change. good unit, just bought a ax4000 to replace it.

This is an excellent receiver. The Android Auto feature is awesome! It is fast and has worked flawlessly. Great improvement in sound compared to my stock stereo. I had the SiriusXM tuner and steering wheel controls installed also. Works great! Bluetooth phone very clear. Could not be happier.

Pros: - great screen display, very responsive to touch. - fluid switch between applications. - nice finish. - easy to install. - easy to operate with Android/ Iphone. - easy customization for wallpapers. Cons - hard to find file format to have movies playable on the device. - knob is a little stiffer than preference preferred. - wish you could change the size of the displayed time. - Bluetooth calls don't display caller name sometimes. might be fixed in the newest firmware updated. If anyone has an idea of the format to display movies and videos on the unit please inform me, Thank you!

I don’t typically leave reviews but this unit has far surpassed my expectations. I got it since it was inexpensive CarPlay unit but I also liked the general interface as well. Plenty of controls to adjust sound quality. Sounds great to me! I had a backup camera and steering wheel control unit all installed at the same time and everything works flawlessly. I had only one major gripe and that was the initial safety screen would remain on screen until you clicked it off. Well, come to find out, Sony had a firmware update that removed this. It goes away on its own now! This is my first Sony head unit but it has been a great unit and as long as it holds up for years to come, I’ll be more than satisfied with my purchase.

So far have not had any issues with it, have not had a chance to test out the Android Auto interface. But the CarPlay works great! Looking forward to the iOS11 enhancements to Maps.

Got a chance to check out a prototype of this model at a Sony Event, been in love with it ever since! Boy is it the best out there for the price :)

Looks great, amazing price and love how it has a volume knob which was the selling point for me as button control volumes can get annoying. Would not have minded paying more for a bigger screen that has one but it looks like this is as big as you can get with those specifications. Overall has everything you need so great to get especially if you are looking for something with CarPlay compatibility.
