Great unit for the price. Clean, simple, easy to use, and configure. My main gripe is audio quality. You have to mess with EQ's a lot to get decent sound quality. I spent 3K on new speakers and sub - I am constantly battling with the deck to get the most out of them. I also have to turn my amplifier wayyyy down to prevent hissing in my speakers. The low voltage pre amp inputs (2v) are just not enough for a high quality sound system. CarPlay connectivity. CarPlay itself is very slow and laggy. You'll click on the icon you want, let's say Google Maps, and the app launches in slow-mo. Think of Neo dodging shots in the Matrix. The USB connection to initiate CarPlay via the phone is also very hit or miss. Some days it launches and connects perfectly. Other days, you have to disconnect the phone and reconnect it multiple times. A quick tip is to disconnect it at the USB source, not the cable you are using. Something about disconnecting and reconnecting at the USB source a couple of times allows the unit to reconnect. Once decks are readily available and the chip shortage is resolved, I plan to replace this unit. For now, it should work just fine.

I love my new CarPlay! I didn't realize what I was missing. If ou are on the fence, take the jump! It is well worth it!

The touch screen is a little finicky. You have to put your finger in the exact right spot- if you're off by even a little it won't respond. The bass is a bit lacking as well. Great interface with Android Auto, but Apple Car Play is hit and miss - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

I’m really enjoy my radio. I was installed professionally and ahead of schedule. Great job by the technician in explaining how things worked . Great sound and easy to navigate

Sony used to be the lower value receivers when I was growing up in the 90s/early 2000s. This doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a more expensive model, however, it has all the basics you might need to enhance an older vehicle experience. I was worried about the capacitive touch but actually prefer it to the iphone like screens because they are non-glare and have become more responsive. It has lag when you have maps up and are taking a phone call but it hasn't really been an issue for me.

Fantastic devise! Difficult for me to hood the back up camera to it but everything works great.

It is great for functionality but I am little concerned as after installing this, my car's battery is acting up. I had to jump start already few times. I did not have any issues until this was installed. I will have to have Best buy look into the wiring to ensure it is not causing the battery issue. I also had the battery tested and it looks good. Other than that, the product is amazing.

Had this system for more than a year now. The sound quality is good but there are several limitation on this system. 1. The system when using car play has many bugs. For one if your on a phone call the entire system is so slow. Just swiping on the screen is an effort and you can see the screen move in frames. Tried this on multiple iPhones/cables but nothing helps. Everything works fine in my other car with a manufacturer default car play system. 2. If you on a call and try to start navigation the navigation voice(google maps) will scream at you with an ungodly loud volume. The audio will also break with the phone audio and seems like another audio bug with this unit. I would recommend you look into another brand. Just check Reddit and all Sony systems seem to have similar issues with slow downs when a phone call is placed on CarPlay.

Good quality very nice sound does what it’s supposed to

Existing ax7000 opener. Bought this unit for my wife’s 86. Everything works as good as expected. We are very happy about this purchase especially in this days that almost nothing are available. We just want something simple and a decent screen with CarPlay so she can use Google map and for phone calls.

This Sony system is definitely worth the price. It fits perfectly in my dash. With this purchase installation was free. So many more easy options while driving.
