We were really looking into the Pioneer, but it was sold out & wasn't able to be ordered so this was a close second. Still a very good choice.

I wish i had got this sooner. I went with this unit as I wanted the full screen as opposed to the unit with the dial on the left side. I had to modify the opening in my Vehicle, but I have done this before so that was no concern. The screen looks great, touch is responsive, and the controls are very easy to use. The included MIC works surprisingly well for voice calls. Callers have not said anything indicating that they were having issues hearing me or passengers in the rear seat. I really like using WAZE for navigation with this unit. It has been dead on accurate with traffic, disabled vehicles, objects in road, red light cameras, etc.. It is worth it just for that capability. I do not miss the CD player at all. Apple Music works great. I have not used the android feature, but it is nice to know I can.

Upgraded from the stock 2009 Subaru Forester CD player and I couldn't be happier! I wanted a CarPlay model and did a lot of comparison shopping online before settling on the XAV-AX3000. The install was a breeze thanks to the Metra mounting brackets and online instructions -- and a little bit of internet research to get the wiring right. Definitely spend some time looking online first. Once installed, the unit was easy to setup and use. Love the CarPlay features and they all work flawlessly. The call quality is good (people tell me) and mounting the mic near the instrument cluster in my Forester was a breeze. Sound quality (I also upgraded my speakers) is amazing and I'm loving it.

Android auto was the need and it delivers! Very easy interface and much more hands free now. Love how it sounds and does great with the added back up camera. Thank you best buy Gresham for the hook up!

Great media player for your smart phones. I'm sure there's a way to look at pictures and video's. Just need to learn more. Great sound when playing music and maps are great too. Taking calls now are safer and easy. Had rear camera also installed and it works great. Wish there was more apps out there for this and I'm sure more will be made.

Very good head unit, nice clear screen and great size. The car play works great with my Apple and my Android. The BT phone works great and is loud and clear. Did I mention that this is mounted in a Yamaha Stratoliner Deluxe motorcycle? The touch screen is very sensitive and I can use it with my riding gloves. Great install and customer service.

I don’t give five stars unless something is perfection so four stars goes a long way! The Sony head unit has been great so far with car play on my iPhone and melds very well together, just wish it played DVD’s and CD’s as an option. Very happy otherwise screen works well as a touch controller and sounds great!

this unit went into a 2006 pontiac solstice with a manual transmission and i could not be more thrilled with it. the features are intuitive. the messaging and phone features are killer with a manual transmission. the sound it offers is simply fantastic. the display illumination and touch screen work very well, are ergonomic and user friendly. i highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for an updated player with all the bells and whistles.

This Sony unit packs a great punch at a good price. I had Geek Squad do the install and it is professional and everything works and looks amazing. I mainly use the unit for Android Auto and since that feature is on many units, I will try to stick to features of this specific unit The unit sounds great, it has the 10 band EQ and it surprisingly makes my stock speakers sound pretty good. It has a peak power of 55 watts, so an amp will be necessary for some but it's good enough for me. Radio stations sound clearer than before and music from Bluetooth sources also just sound more high quality. I don't blast my speakers so I haven't heard any distortion or clipping. I like having a quick bass boost option without editing the entire EQ setting. The touch screen is very responsive. Thankfully it isn't too cold where I'm located so I can't say if it would work with gloves on. The buttons are tactile and work nicely. It does offer satellite radio but I don't have a subscription to that. One thing I would personally change is having a volume dial instead of buttons, but that is just a personal preference.

Works great. Touch screen is nice, I don’t feel like stepping up to the higher end screen is worth it. Kinda wish it had HD radio, but CarPlay and backup camera bring my son’s 2005 Ford Mustang up to par with modern cars. (In terms of electronics)

So far, thrilled with this unit. Previously bought a Kenwood and returned it for this one. All kinds of problems with the Kenwood and none so far with this one. Sound quality is MUCH better. Only gripe I would have and give the Kenwood props for is options. Like the EQ on the Kenwood is better with up to 3 user presets which this one does not have. A couple of minor other menu options the Kenwood had , that makes this one seem a little plainer. However, I would much rather have the higher quality sound and no issues than a few extra bells and whistles. My daughter now wants my truck because of the stereo.

Repacked a factor Jeep radio with this one. Have previously used Pioneer but this one was discounted. Installed it myself - with the mounting kit and connector. Works well, but I may like the Pioneer I have in another car a little better.

If you’re looking for quality and something that will last, I recommend going for brands like Sony that are tried and true. The CarPlay works great, charges your phone quickly, and the touch screen responds well. While it can be pricy along with the installation costs, in my opinion it’s worth spending a little extra for something that won’t fail.

The best value when it comes to a receiver compatible with Android Auto. I dont understand why Android Auto compatible units are so expensive, but this one is an incredible value at just over $300 compared to the $600-$700 for comparable units. Clean design with minimal buttons and a simple layout. One of my complaints is that this unit only has 1 rear facing USB port but my installer was happy to plug my cable in and run it out the front during installation. Also there is no wallpaper import feature so youre limited to the pre installed designs. And finally, Android hasnt added wireless connectivity for Android Auto, so to use the GPS feature, among other features, you need to have your phone physically plugged in instead of doing it via bluetooth. A few grievances aside, I'd easily recommend this radio. Looks very clean and qorks like a charm. 4/5

Absolutely no issues with this unit! I was worried after reading the reviews where people complained about the android auto capabilities, but everything functioned flawlessly with my s10+. Huge improvement to sound quality over the stock unit in my car. Highly reccomend!

This stereo is great! I bought it as an upgrade for my 02 Tundra. Installed it myself, pretty easy just make sure you have the right harness. Touch screen works great. Bluetooth connects automatically when I turn the car on. Ive used andriod auto once, because I mainly connect via bluetooth, and there was no issues with it. No cons to report.

First and foremost, Android Auto has been perfect. I was skeptical based on some of the reviews saying that the app crashes (with some gray broken pixels), but having checked for some firmware updates, there was indeed an update available quite recently - I think that bug is fixed. Only downside in my experience is that the screen returns to home screen after reversing the car for backup camera. It would be better if it returns to android auto.

After careful consideration and reviewing 50+ different head units, I decided to purchase the Sony - 7" - Android Auto/Apple® CarPlay™ - Built-in Bluetooth - In-Dash Digital Media Receiver - Black for my 2009 Jeep Compass Sport 4x4. 1). It fits like it was made for my dash. It looks awesome! 2). I installed it using my existing amp and speakers and still, the sound quality has improved dramatically from the Pioneer unit I replaced. My phone is a Galaxy J7 and unfortunately is not completely compatible in that I can't connect my device through Android Auto to use my navigator and a few other features from my phone and display it on the screen of the Sony. Bluetooth, etc. works just fine. Install was a breeze I even added a backup camera and connected it to the unit. Several of my friends and passengers have notice and commented on the improved sound. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the unit. As a matter of fact, I like it so much that now I'm in the market for an Android or Apple phone that will be 100% compatible so I can take advantage of all the unit has to offer. Great unit! --especially for the money. Buy one, you won't be dissatisfied.

Looks good, sounds great. Got it for a Christmas present, went 2 days after Christmas to Best Buy to get it installed and was told installers were off until Jan. 21. Chose another company and they did a great job. Integrated the unit with the steering controls on my 2014 Altima, reconnected the back up camera. Superb sound and performance. My first recover with Android Auto and it's great!
