I didn’t need a new car but I did need a new media system. #1 was to have no glare and the mat surface provides that. It works perfectly with my Apple Car Play and no wires . My phone stays in my purse, but most importantly is that my dealership sent me to Best Buy for the best deal and it didn’t disappoint! Will never need upgrade.

It was a big improvement overall from the OEM sound system. But the quality of Sony receiver is sub par. Like most reviewer mentioned, it was hard to see the LCD screen during the day, specially when it's sunny & bright. Setting up with my iphone for carplay was easy. Few times I had hard time connecting to carplay. Seems like there's a considerable amount of lag between my iphone and the Sony receiver. Sound quality from the receiver for music and phone calls are excellent. Only reason I decided to get this model was because of wireless carplay connectivity and it was on sale for $349 plus free installation.

The draw backs for me are, I HD radio, and occasionally the apple car play is glitched and does not let you here phone calls or text messages. Not a bad purchase, just not yet perfect.

I use the carplay feature for Apple iphone and it works like a dream. I also added a backup camera. Very nice upgrade to my 22 year old ride!

Only things I don't like are the picture quality of the backup camera. It was much clearer on the Kenwood, and the screen is hard to see during the day, especially when the sun is shining in the cab of the truck. Makes using it for navigation difficult, which was half the reason I bought it. Wondering if any after market double din radios have as good of a picture as our brand new truck.

I made an appointment online when purchased the head unit and backup camera. for the head unit. Apparently the system didn’t block off enough time for the installer to get both things done. So I made another appointment to weeks later to bring the truck back for the camera install. The appointment was the first of the day as they don’t open until 10:00am. I was a little late arriving to the 2nd appointment, I arrived at 10:25am planning to leave my truck for the day. The installer informed me that I was late and because of that I couldn’t get it done that day. I also offered to leave the truck for as long as possible because I already arranged a ride to drop it off but that was still a hard no. I ended up making another appointment at a different Best Buy for the following Monday to try to get this done.

I Like Pioneers waaay better.

The screen isn’t bright enough. It doesn’t have a sound retriever function like Pioneer so when you’re playing compressed files it doesn’t have that bass punch. The Bluetooth doesn’t connect reliably. I just like Pioneers better but it isn’t terrible.

CarPlay doesn’t switch to light mode

Usually there is an option to set CarPlay as light or dark mode always otherwise auto switches when you turn your head lights on. I see the actual Apple Maps ui change from light to dark when I switch on headlights so I know it’s not an installation issue the black bar on the side of CarPlay is always black but on my wife’s vehicles Sony head unit it is opaque. The glare on this screen is pretty bad so when it’s in dark mode in the day I just give up. Otherwise it’s a great hu

The setup you're trying to aim is a setting in Apple CarPlay that is, by default, set to dark for better visibility. To have CarPlay automatically switch between dark and light appearance, do the following:
1) Open Settings in CarPlay using your vehicle’s built-in controls.
2) Select Appearance.
3) Select Always Dark.
The dark appearance is optimized for viewing in low-light environments, such as at night.
