I was looking to replace a 30 year old reciever and went in to look at what was availible. The Sony Reciever was way beyond my expections for such a low cost for the item. The guy who helped me made many suggestions as to the benefits of this item and many others but I chose this one to fit my needs. Once home I had to get online to set up the sterio with my componets and radio stations but I was running at full volume within 10 minute! Can't be happier!

I bought this receiver because the Yamaha receiver that I had for 5 years stopped working. I needed a receiver to do the basics, connecting to my 5.1 polk speaker system and to give sound to my Panasonic plasma which surprisingly is still going strong after 7 years. The Sony receiver that I purchased is doing the job that I wanted, great sound and a solid performer for my home theater.

Needed some more volume on the TV in the workout room so upgraded to this amp from an old Sony Dream System. HDMI inputs are perfect for today's hardware. A word of caution; this amp leads you to believe it can drive a subwoofer. Not! Needed to pick up a powered sub. This amp only outputs low level preamp for sub.

I needed a receiver to replace an old one that did not support HDMI and this one did the job. Had a little bit of an issue with it shorting out and shutting off at first. But after looking up the problem in the troubleshooting section of the manual we checked all the speaker wires and one of them was not connected well and was causing the short. After fixing that it worked great.

My primary focus was to run my speakers and to use a single line to the tv for all of my peripherals. This accomplishes that task without breaking the bank. I can use my surround sound as well as tv and gaming all from one device. It's a bit bulky and looks like it was designed in the 1980s, but it was simple to set up and worked the very first time I turned it on. Can't ask for much more.

Handshake problem... recommend only if guaranteed by installer for possible handshake issues.

Needed a replacement receiver and met all my needs. It doesn't have Bluetooth like my old receiver but besides that I'll happy with the purchase.

This is the 3rd receiver I have purchased in the same model. Kind of obsessed with Sony products I guess. Great quality sound for the $. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a quality home entertainment system. I am somewhat old school as I just re-coned my Advent speakers and wanted a decent receiver to drive them. It competes with high end receivers from years ago. Nothing too fancy, but always quality sound!

Receiver has tons of HDMI inputs and outputs. Created many sound options.
