Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the sound quality, Bluetooth connectivity, and ease of use of this Built-in Bluetooth - In-Dash CD/DM Receiver. Many appreciate the numerous features offered at a reasonable price, along with its attractive appearance and color options. While some found the display difficult to see in bright sunlight, the positive feedback on other aspects outweighs this concern. The installation process is also reported to be straightforward.

This Sony car stereo is ok, but not great. Kind of hard to use, although I haven’t owned an after-market stereo in years. Maybe that’s just how they are now.

This is the 2nd time to review the radio. The first review was never posted. The display is impossible to see during the daylight. It makes the driver take their eyes off of the road for a long time to make an attempt to see what the display indicates. Display can only be seen in the store and at night. It is too bad the engineers who designed this obviously did not check this out in real world use. Sound is okay.

Okay if you don’t plan on driving in the daylight. Impossible to see or operate Controls. Timeout options on selecting features is too quick making you start over - that is if you can see the controls. Only saving grace is the mini- remote - Just don’t lose it. Sounds okay, and it’s feature rich with phone, Bluetooth - everything you’d expect. BUT ITS TOTALLY USELESS IN THE DAYTIME!!!

While driving with the radio on my strong radio stations sometimes become staticky. The weaker ones are barely heard over the noise. The other features work well, although I'm still learning how to use them.

Maximize your car audio? Cheese and Rice too much! How many settings to you need? Why do I need to know my battery voltage? Too many frequency settings You have 4 speakers Some of these settings your ears can't even pick up. Maybe your dog can. Ridiculous.

Got this Sony unit on Black Friday sale and had free install at the store. Unit and install was flawless. I didn't even know it had a microphone for hands free until I noticed it driving home. Love how you can change the backlight color to match interior. Sound is wonderful as well as the FM and AM reception. I have read what others have posted about how you cant see the display when it's sunny out, and this is slightly true. The face of the unit is very reflective, almost like a mirror. When the interior of your vehicle is bright, you will see this in the reflection, and it impairs reading of info on the radio. I did not find this annoying enough to reduce rating from 5 stars. For the price, I could not have done better.

I have had this radio for about a year now. The radio portion works fine and the look is great. The bluetooth is flaky. I have a google phone and my wife has a galaxy and we both have problems with connecting to this radio. I have to turn the radio off and on multiple times to get it to connect. Half the time the calling portion will connect and the music streaming will not. DO NOT get this radio if you are looking for something with solid bluetooth.

Sound quality is unbelievably awesome...sounds like the stereo in my home ! Bluetooth is fantastic, no wires to hook up to my phone ! Start the car, turn on my phone's music and Bluetooth starts playing it in a couple seconds ! All the bells and whistles are frosting on the cake ! When I get a phone call while driving it's a clear clean sound over the car speakers and the person calling me can understand what I'm saying as if we were both in the car = "Hands free". HUGE improvement over my old car radio !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Terrible connectivity

The sound is fine. The controls are not great -- hard to figure out and touchy. Connecting a phone, any phone, in any way is a nightmare. I have an Android; my wife has an iPhone. Her phone won't connect through Bluetooth at all, until sometimes, randomly, it does and starts playing out of nowhere. She always uses the USB connection, but that's not great because it will start playing in her music folder at the beginning, no matter where she left off. I can't connect with USB at all, ever, and Bluetooth is whimsical. I updated the firmware and it got better for about two weeks, then stopped connecting completely. We're replacing it.

Horrible Bluetooth, ok sound, clock not constant.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First of all, the sound is okay. I really hate that it's like pulling teeth to get the clock to show all of the time. Spoiler alert: it won't do it. This is replacing an OEM Nissan stereo (sound isn’t really an improvement), and the old stereo had a clock on ALL THE TIME. Driving to work or anywhere I have to check my Phone or watch for the time. Not very hands free. Yes, I have changed what is displayed multiple times. The phone will connect fine for phone calls, but says “No device” for BT Audio. A lot. You have to jump through a bunch of hoops to connect, especially if you are switching from a different phone, which is what I do a lot. I have both an Android and iPhone with up to date software and have issues with both. If you previously connected to the exact same phone it is better. It only takes about two minutes to connect, then cuts in and out for 20 to 30 seconds. I emailed Sony support and they suggested I reset the receiver. That helped. It now only takes about a minute to connect, but still cuts in and out. Considering my commute is about five minutes I might as well just travel in silence as opposed to the aggravation. Today I was switching from having previously connected to Android and tried connecting my iPhone. It wouldn’t connect. I then went into Bluetooth discovery mode on the receiver. It didn’t show up at all on my phone. I then plugged it in with a USB cable AND IT CONNECTED! It's a Christmas miracle! But then after playing for about a minute, I could see the song playing on the phone, but no sound from the receiver. This has been going on for almost a year. I'm about done. Sony sure has gone downhill lately. My last three Sony products have not been that great: a 4K Blu Ray player, and another car stereo.
