Sony - ITE - Self Fitting OTC hearing Aids

Over all these hearing aids exceed my expectations. The app offers two main adjustment which I use very often, depending on my setting: volume control and directional control. I find that these help with back ground noise and over all quality of sound.
These are much more than amplifiers. But I have never had prescription hearing aids so I have nothing to compare them too. Over all I am happy with the purchase. My wife is also.
I do not use them to stream music or other audio from my phone. But they work great for receiving phone calls.
One reminder: Best Buy has a sixty day return policy. Read and research the details. They encourage you to use the full sixty days. However, it is a well kept secret as far as the brick and mortar stores and their staff are concerned. This detail are revealed with purchase and with research. But two out of three stores told me that the hearing aids had to be returned within 2 weeks, unless you purchased an extended warranty plan.

I was Leary about buying my hearing aids OTC. I was used to being fitted by an audiologist. The Best Buy salesman took the time and answered all my questions and made his suggestion based on my input. I had 60 days to make up mind if I liked them or not. I did have some problems setting them up. I called the Sony support center and worked with them to make some simple adjustments. I never wore my previous hearing aids all day but I enjoy wearing these all day long.

I have searched for OTC hearing aids that are affordable. These are the best I've found. I bought these because they say they can be used as ear buds with Apple devices, My honest opinion. These are very good HEARING AIDS, they are not good EAR BUDS. They keep disconnecting when I play music unless I have my phone in front of me. So do yourself a favor GET THESE FOR HEARING AIDS and get a bone conduction head set for for music,

Hi PhillipS! Thank you so much for your thoughtful 4-star review of Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids. We're thrilled to hear that your new hearing aids have been a great solution for your hearing needs. While the E10s do offer streaming capabilities with Apple devices, you're absolutely right that their primary function is to support better hearing. As these devices use Apple's MFi connection for streaming instead of a traditional Bluetooth connection, signal strength and distance between devices may vary. We recommend keeping your phone near while streaming, and avoiding placing your phone in a pocket or bag.
Thank you for choosing Sony! Best regards, Estefany

after going through 2 pairs of $5000 behind the ear hearing aids (that was several years ago) I am so happy about the Sony's. The customer service is great and the sound is really good, but they are a little hard to get into the ear the right way. It could be the little domes on the end might not be the right size . I think I'm in between sizes that they offer and will be calling customer service for their help.

These are very good hearing aids. I am ex-military and was exposed to thousands of hours of jet engine noise and thousands of gunshot reports. I can now hear conversations I had been missing for years. Even in a crowded restaurant, I hear everything my table companions say, without hearing everything else going on in the restaurant. Battery life is excellent and recharging is simple. The only improvement I would recommend is a greater spread of sizes for the earpieces.

I've had these hearing aids for three months now and am very satisfied with them. They work well and are quite comfortable. I especially liked the initial self hearing test feature. The tone tests generated settings specifically for my level of hearing loss. My hearing loss is in the higher frequencies. Now I can hear bird song again. Music sounds richer. My wife's voice sounds like it did when we first met. Yes, they are pricey, but when you consider that sound is one of the most fundamental senses it's well worth it.

This is my second set of hearing aid I bought from BB. The first one I got is an EARGO.
This sony hearing aid is better in amplifying higher frequency sound which is mainly my problem. Not as discreet as the Eargo but I am no longer hiding I am wearing a hearing aid. Battery life too is way better than the Eargo so far. I will update once I have it longer.

I had high hopes for these hearing aids, but unfortunately, they’ve been a letdown. While the design is sleek and the app interface is decent, the core functionality just isn’t there. The sound quality is inconsistent, and background noise often overwhelms conversations, even in relatively quiet environments.
Despite multiple adjustments and firmware updates, I still struggle with clarity, especially in group settings or outdoors. The Bluetooth connection is also unreliable—it frequently drops or fails to reconnect automatically, which is frustrating for daily use.
For the price, I expected a much more refined and dependable experience. I really wanted to like these, but they just don’t deliver where it matters most

Hi VMM2021,
Thank you for taking the time to review the Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids. We are sorry to learn that you experienced discomfort with the fit of your devices. Sony OTC hearing aids are non-custom devices, and because of differences in ear size and shape, they are not designed to fit perfectly in all ears. Have you considered trying the CRE-C20 model? Some customers have found that due to its smaller size, the C20 is more comfortable. Please note that C20 devices do not offer Bluetooth connectivity or streaming.

took me about 3 months to fully adjust and now sometimes I forget I'm wearing it - it has brought my hearing back to close to 90%. wish list - it could be a little smaller but battery life will last all day - 18 hours so its great. also, the silicone cups needs to be replaced weekly (and not monthly as Sony advises) - take that cost into account.

Hi JayLo! Thank you for taking the time to review Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids. We're so happy to learn that the battery life has been a positive product feature for you! The frequency of which click sleeves need to be changed will vary from ear to ear and is typically related to the amount and frequency of wax production. To prolong time between changing click sleeves, we also recommend cleaning click sleeves with a soft cloth or included brush after each use.
Best regards,
Romeo

These hearing aids were actually quite good and I'd rate them a 5 but for the fact that they are black in color so very noticeable when wearing. That being said, the quality and the amplification of sound was quite good. If you don't mind the color, I would totally recommend getting these.

I was able to hear very well but the buds didn't fit in my ear. even when i tried to change them out. Since they didn't fit i kept getting a high pitch noise. I wish they had reps to help with adjusting these because they worked great besides falling out of my ear due to poor security and the high pitch squeal.

Hello Milly. Thanks for taking the time to review Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids. We're so sorry to learn you experienced difficulty with the fit or your new hearing aids. Sony OTC hearing aids are non-custom devices, meaning they were not designed specifically for the shape of your ear. Sometimes when someone wears a non-custom device, it may not fit the individual ear perfectly. You might also consider trying our Sony CRE-C20 hearing aid as its smaller size may fit better in our ear. We encourage you to reach out to our expert Sony Hear Team if you have questions: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=otcha Regards. -Jenn

These hearing aids have been working much better than expected! I’ve had them for a month— charged them in their case the day they arrived— haven’t had to recharge yet! Great product and technology. Awesome for singing in a group or with loud music because you can hear your own voice and stay on key—nice bonus!

Love these! My dad who has severe loss of hearing gets some assistance with them. Why would I use these vs a prescription aid that would serve him better? Easy, he loses/breaks whatever he has. Might as well be these $1k-ish pair vs his previous $3-4k aids. This being said, we went through several brands before finding the Sony could do the bare minimum for him.

I am thoroughly impressed with these Sony hearing aids. Very, VERY comfortable and love using the Bluetooth features. Once set up, they work perfectly. The only gripe I have is with the app account creation process. To be honest, it was horrible. Sony should do better. It took way to many failed attempts to prove I wasnt a robot and the verification email tookway too many attempts to receive. Do better Sony! Again, as far as the functionality and and results of the hearing aids, they are fanastic!

These are decent as hearing aids. Sound adjustment s are great but using them for streaming audio sounds really “tinny” and has zero bass. The volume leaves a lot to be desired when streaming audio also. I tried to use them in the gym and couldn’t hear the music at all. I ended up buying AirPod Pro gen2 headphones after watching a YouTube idea of how to change setting to use them as hearing aids and they are much better for me and at 1/5th the cost. Keep in mind that I have mild hearing loss. Maybe they work better for others but I wasn’t super impressed with them.

Hi NathanM! Thank you so much for taking the time to review Sony OTC hearing aids. We are saddened to learn that these devices did not meet your expectations. It is important to note that while made-for-iPhone (MFi) hearing aids can stream audio, their main purpose is improved hearing. Hearing aid streaming is not always comparable to streaming from consumer earbuds. We are happy you have found a solution that meets your needs and are appreciate that you gave Sony a chance during your hearing healthcare journey. Regards, Erin

Really excited when these were announced, waited patiently for release. Disappointed when used. These are Sony, synonymous with musical quality which absolutely disappoints. As Bluetooth devices these were poor for both music and useless for phone calling, Fit well, deep in the ear, but did not have much noise cancelling ability and difficult adjustment for individual hearing. I can't say that the amplification was particularly pleasing--crackling mylar effect and balance between my voice and environment was off (my voice to loud). I had been SO hopeful. I hope Sony realizes that there are hearing impaired consumers that want the quality of a Sony Noise Cancelling Earbud with services for the hearing impaired.

Hi PaulT, I'm so sorry the Sony OTC over-the-counter hearing aids didn't work out for you. It's true, hearing aids and earbuds will sound very different when listening to music. There's a lot of reasons for this, beyond the scope of this reply. Similarly, hearing aids do not have noise cancellation like earphones. Hearing aids use a different type of noise reduction to optimize speech. You may benefit from seeing a hearing care professional to provide a more customized fit. We hope you find a solution to help you on your hearing journey! Thank you for trying our product!" -Erin

My wife likes this hearing so much, we are purchasing a second pair for back up. The setup is simple and takes you through a personal customization process. This process sets up the OTC hearing aid in relation to your personal hearing loss. It isn't as robust as a prescription setup, but the feature was sufficient for my wife's hearing needs.
