I really wanted to like them. The software that comes with them? Oh my God, the last time I've done any kind of design and coding was in Roblox when I was 12, and I'm confident I could write and design a better application in an evening than the poor intern they hired to write that incredibly feisty and combative app. They never charge when you put them in the case, making my nightly routine struggling with the things to get them to seat properly, and yes, I have woken up to one of them fully charged and the other one wasn't so it was effectively a worthless product when I needed it, but nope: had to sit there, holding the thing in on my way to work so I could at least get 5 hours worth of charge for my shift. Now the right aid is going out and it hasn't even been two months, I have no idea what's wrong with it. Maybe my problems with the hardware themself is a fluke, and I really hope so because I have to make the drive to the city tomorrow on my day off to see if I can even get these exchanged, (I'll be heart broken if I can't because when these worked it was the first time I could hear after living all my life of getting ridiculed for not being able to hear or mumble because I don't know how loud I'm speaking). The positives? They sound really nice, but seriously, dear reader, this is not worth how obtuse they are. Sony can and will do better. It's just not this generation of hearing aids, and I can't recommend that you adopt a prototype build of a product that needed less corners cut in production at this pricing.

Definitely help with hearing. They're not great for streaming music, but good enough for calls. Discreet.

      Hi user952885,

Thank you for the great review! I'm so glad you're enjoying the cost/benefit of the Sony CRE-E10 OTC hearing aids. It's true, hearing aids and earbuds will sound very different when listning to music. There's a lot of reasons for this, beyond the scope of this reply, feel free to reach out to our Sony Product Support team if you'd like to further discuss. Thank you for taking the time to review our product!

Great hearing aids. i have tried many including prescription HAs and these are up there with top of the line HAs. These have blown all the other OTC HAs out of the water.

    Good Design, Not-So-Great App

Bought these for my dad who liked them better than a pair of Jambra hearing aids. The main issue with these was we couldn't use the audio control features of the app without first passing the hearing test. My dad said the aids helped him hear a lot better without the full use of the app. So, the hearing test as a blocker for audio control features is not a good design in my opinion.

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your Sony OTC hearing aids. We're sorry to hear that your dad got the message that these don't match his hearing profile. OTC hearing aids are cleared by the FDA to fit mild to moderate hearing losses. Because of this, they are unable to be programmed for more severe losses. Please contact our friendly and knowledgeable Sony OTC hearing aid support team for additional troubleshooting and information. https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=otcha Sony_US

Pros Great sound quality for voices Nice small charger Cons Closed earpieces make eating potato chips a nightmare They didn't have a feature I was looking for but couldn't confirm prior to purchase. Namely, the ability to pick up my voice during a phone call so I don't have to have my iPhone mic near my mouth to use them.

Hi ojoe! Thank you for trying the Sony over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids! We're glad you had great sound quality and good charging ability. It certainly can take a while to get used to new sounds like chewing. This is very common amongst new heairng aid users. There's great fine tuning section you could try! None of Sony's OTC hearing aids support hands free calling at this time. Product advertising will specifically state when this feature is included. Erin Sony_US

I ordered online and thought the return policy was 30 days but it was 15. The hard part of aid puts to much pressure on ear and I could not wear more than 3 hours. The software kept defaulting to settings and I had to get on and reset multiple times while wearing. They did help some but not like custom hearing aids. I will try to sell them

Hi KathyG, Thank you for the excellent review. I'm glad your husband enjoyed the Sony CRE-E10 hearing aids. It's unfortunate they weren't a good fit for him. In cases where comfort is an issue, it may be considered to see a hearing care professional for a more customized fit. We wish you husband the best on his hearing journey!

Overpriced OTC hearing aids with problems.

Thickness of this product makes it painful after wearing for a few hours. Difficult to extract from ears. Always collects ear wax. Instructions are confusing and occasionally incorrect. Makes my voice sound muffled. I am a big fan of Sony products so I expected to love these hearing aids as an upgrade from my Bose hearing aids, but I plan to return them soon -- just a few days after my purchase.

Hi RDeutsch! I'm so sorry the Sony over-the-counter hearing aids didn't work out for you. Cleaning wax off your heairng aids is part of normal maintainance. If wax blocks the tip of the hearing aids, the sound quality will not be as expected. You may benefit from seeing a hearing care professional. We hope you find a solution to help you on your hearing journey! Thank you for trying our product. Erin Sony_US
