Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It’s a GM, it’s 1.4, it’s fantastic. But it’s big, heavy and expensive. You can save $1200 by getting the Sony 85mm 1.8, an amazing lens that rivals the GM. That 2/3 stop difference is nice, but it’s not $1200 nice. The 1.8 is significantly smaller and lighter too. It’s very hard for me to recommend this lens when the Sony 85mm 1.8 exists for $1200 less. You can take that $1200 and buy another lens.

Still holds up incredibly well!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this lens along with my A7 Mark II something like 8 years ago and to this day this is my goto lens with my A7 Mark IV. I’m not sure I will ever find a better lens than this one and I’m saying that owning multiple GMaster lenses!! Sony really out did themselves and made something special with this one!! For beginners…. I can’t recommend this as your first lens but should definitely be your second or maybe third addition to your arsenal. First lens should be a 24mm-70mm lens or a 70-200mm lens those are both pretty well rounded lenses.

Poor, build quality don't buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I pre-order this lens when it was announced I really though I was going to be an amazing lens. I finally got it yesterday. I put on my a7ii and is making so much noise as a photographer I'll be embarrassed to use this lens at a wedding when everyone is silen And here I'm making so much noise with my lens I contact Sony so an answer and nothing yet. As of tomorrow April 9th I will be returning this lens and going to the Batis 85mm 1.8
