A: Not sure why someone would tell you that and doubt Sony is coming out with a new one any time soon. I have no issues with mine. I suggest you look for reviews on YouTube and comparisons with other 85mm. Make your decision based on what you see. You could be waiting quite some time.

Perfection, realized.
This thing is crisp and fast to lock in AF. The bokeh is smooth and gradual when needed and fast and sharp when necessary. I’m shooting with an A7C & FX3. Love it. All G Masters have been amazing so far.

Perfect!!!
This is exactly what I needed. 85mm screams quality and is perfect for portraits. The only thing I wish Sony would do is fix noise when the lens is focusing, but I can live with that.
