Dreamy Depth and Incredible Sharpness

I’ve been using the Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM Lens and I’m honestly obsessed. This lens delivers everything I want for my work. The sharpness is incredible, even wide open at 1.4, and the background blur is so soft and creamy. It gives my images that dreamy, high-end feel without even trying. The autofocus is fast and super reliable, which is huge for me when I’m shooting couples and families in motion. It locks on beautifully and rarely misses, even in lower light situations. I also love how lightweight and balanced it feels compared to other lenses in this range. It doesn’t weigh me down during longer sessions. Color rendering is gorgeous and consistent, which makes editing so much easier. Skin tones come out natural and flattering, and everything just feels clean and polished straight out of camera. This has easily become one of my go-to lenses. It’s versatile, dependable, and produces stunning results every time. Definitely worth it if you’re looking to elevate your work.

Amazing Lens!

This lens I did a lot of research on before I purchased and I compared this to the sigma and the Sony 1.2 50 mm G master. Most of the consensus was it's a no-brainer with purchasing this lens, it is incredibly fast, great with autofocusing and that iris lock button is great to have. Also very and I mean very sharp. Also lightweight and compact compared to other lenses which makes it more of a joy to carry it around and shoot more often instead of always carrying heavy equipment. I am definitely having fun with this lens and if you're in the market for a gmaster I definitely say go this route. You will not be disappointed.

Light weight, Crisp, Fast, and great Bokeh

This is an amazing lens, possibly the best 50mm lens for the Sony systems, If you are worried about keeping your setup lightweight, with the highest image quality possible and fastest autofocus, this is the lens to get. The jump in price for the 1.2 GM lens does not seem worth the money for how little difference in perfomance you actually get. If you've had the less expensive 50mm 1.8 lens from Sony and feel you are ready to upgrade to the next step, I would definitely pick this up over the 1.2

Great Lens

I was conflicted between the 50mm f/1.2 GM and this 50mm f/1.4 GM. I read so many written reviews and watched so many video that had pitted the two GM lenses against each other as well as reviews that focused solely on each lens and it came down to one important factor: weight. Of course focusing speed is quicker on the f/1.2GM - it has four XD linear motors, but it also needs them to move all that glass which contributes to its overall weight. The form factor of the f/1.4 GM is really nice considering I also own the 35mm f/1.4 GM lens; a really great compliment to each other. Image quality is amazing both wide open and stopped down. The money saved is going towards either Sony's 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II or Sigma's version of it. (Not exactly lightweight lenses, but everyone should own a lens like that.) I've owned this lens for about a month now and am thoroughly impressed with its performance. It is definitely a great lens for the price!

Fantastic little lens. Love the weight and form factor and not to mention exceptional AF and sharpness. Worth the price. I was torn between sigmas new 50mm lens and this lens. So glad I went with it. It helps to have a light weight lens for walk-around, travel and low light.

Amazing glass that impressed the 1st night I took it out for a project. Great match with the FX6. Clear and crisp!

I have been struggling with my kit lens trying to take clear and crisp pictures even though it had zooming ability upto 70. Even though this is a prime lens it is just soo much better in so many ways. I can get clear and sharp pictures effortlessly and the creamy bokeh is just sooo good. Even though you have to adjust yourself with the distance to take the picture it is just supreme in all other aspects. I'm mostly in Aperture mode on my a7III and taking nature and portrait photography

Sharp lens at expected G Master quality!

Was looking for the perfect every day lens to accompany my current wide angle and telephoto kit kit. I have found 40-50mm to be the ideal focal length for my day to day photography needs. This lens is very well build and by far the sharpest images i have shot! Looking forward to having this in my bag gor years to come! Paired with Sony A7RIV.

One day with this lens and it is already providing exceptional image quality and versatility. The lens is a not too heavy, but it feels solid and well-built in the hand. The autofocus is fast and accurate, and the lens is incredibly sharp, even at wide apertures. The bokeh is smooth and buttery, making it perfect for portrait photography. So far, the lens has performed well in low-light situations. The only downside to this lens is the high price, but you definitely get what you pay for in terms of quality and performance. Plus, its relatively cheaper than most other G Master lenses. Overall, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.4 is an excellent choice for photographers who demand the very best in image quality and performance.

Tack sharp, amazing bokeh, fast auto focus. Only reason it's 4/5 is the lens produces a motor sound when it is on. I never owned a GM lens so maybe this is how all GM lenses are... but when I shoot video, its noticeable. Otherwise, for photos, this is my new go-to. Always on my Sony A7C II. Extremely beautiful photos. Price wise... as crazy as it sounds, I say it isn't in the realm of insanity. Most other lenses in this quality level are either similar or WAY more expensive.

Spectacular lens
I was trying to save up and purchase the 50 mm 1.2, but cannot justify the price for it. When the 1.4 was announced I automatically pre-ordered it. I have never been disappointed. The size and weight are excellent, the image quality is spectacular. Unless you absolutely need that extra stop in light, save yourself a few hundred bucks and buy the sleds instead. The image quality is absolutely out of this world, the 67 mm filter size makes it very easy to carry. Balance is very nice on both older Sony bodies and the newer ones also. On APSC body however, it is a bit clumsy.

Sony 50mm 1.4 GM, all time favorite lens

It's a fantastic lens. The size is just perfect on my Sony A7RV. The image quality from this lens is incredible and second to none. I've used the older 50 1.8, samyang and sigma ones, and the famous Zeiss 55mm 1.8 that most swears by. But this lens is just special. The autofocus is fast and sharp. The declickable aperture ring is really easy to use.
