The ability to play games on your ps5 while someone else uses the TV or when you're not home is actually incredible. I play way more games now than I did before. The only people who shouldn't get it are people who live alone and don't care to play on the road.

It’s a solid handheld that was lacking portability outside of your home. But with the recent update, which makes it able to play game natively without the need of being hooked to the PS5, it’s a solid option for those who want a handheld that can play all of your PlayStation library and is way more budget friendly compared to other handhelds on the market.

Absolutely love this thing! Went one 2 vacations with it and it was super fun to play god of war 2018 in my hotel room and playing death stranding at the airport would definitely recommend it!

Wanted the portal for the convenience. It has great sound quality, and good visuals. The main problem is that you’ll have to have a solid Internet connection in order to play the games that you have.

I love my PS Portal! Especially the black version. With the new update that lets you cloud-stream anywhere, it became so much better. I can play my PS5 games anywhere I go without needing to be on the same Wi-Fi. The screen looks great, controls feel just like a DualSense, and everything runs super smooth. If you like remote play or gaming on the go, this thing is worth it.

I'm absolutely loving my PlayStation Portal!* I bought it on Best Buy, and it was definitely worth the amount The setup was a breeze, taking only about 5 minutes to get up and running. The remote play connection is surprisingly smooth, even on Wi-Fi. The 8-inch LCD screen is crisp and vibrant, making games look amazing.

Perfect! The PlayStation Portable remains a standout handheld, offering impressive graphics, solid controls, and a strong library of classic titles. Its multimedia features and durable build add appeal. Battery life is decent, though outdated now. Still, for retro gaming fans, the PSP delivers a fun, portable experience even today overall great.
Best investment to keep both you + your wife happy

I love this. I take it to work and play it on my lunch break regularly. Rest mode. WiFi. Gaming no problem. It’s better for solo playing personally. I play 2K up here if I’m at home but work meh. So far I’ve played FFXVI and Days Gone now problem.

After many years of streaming games, using every service and device imaginable, I can confidently say this is the best platform and experience hands down. I've switched full-time to the PS Portal!
The quality of the games, the stream, and the input responsiveness are all best in class. I'm currently playing ARC Raiders and loving it. And yes, all of that is on the Portal, with no PS5 necessary!

The PlayStation Portal is an Excellent Device for Remote play. The Ergonomics on it allow for a great long play experience. The key to it is having a good networking environment at home, having a good router and a wired PlayStation is the optimal way for it to work well for your needs.
It has a long battery life and great looking screen. It’s a great addition for people who want to have a simplified remote play experience at home or even depending on where you are with decent WiFi you can play outside of the home as well.
The biggest cons for it are the lack of bluetooth which is due to some inherent latency issues, vs using their official devices. But your mileage may vary if you use a 3.5mm to Bluetooth adapter. You can also use wired headphones with it.
Overall if you are someone who wants to play while your tv is in use, or just to play on the couch or elsewhere in the house vs being front of the tv or monitor its a great device.
I recommend considering your use cases for the device. There are various options you do have that may be cheaper or cost more with some sacrifice to ergonomics or convenience.
You can go for a backbone for 100 dollars paired to your phone but then you may have interruptions to your gaming session.
You can go for a tablet with a dualsense controller but you may have limited seating positions while playing, and also have certain interruptions on the device.
You can go for some of the other cloud devices that may do more but cost at least 50-100 dollars more or way higher if you go for a PC handheld and there are tradeoffs on battery life, and screen size etc.
Overall this is a great device that does as advertised and is a good option when you consider your use case for it.

The PlayStation Portal is the best controller for the PS5 if you’re on the go. In my experience it’s best used with your phone’s mobile hotspot and secondary on guest wifi. It is NOT a handheld console. It is a Controller with a screen. If you have a PlayStation 5 and your library is in it then this device may be for you. It is a streamlined option if you don’t own a tablet to use the PS Remote Play App with. If you already own a Steam Deck or iPad or a similar tablet then the Portal isn’t likely for you.

This Handheld Device has been the best gaming purchase I ever made! I can walk around my house freely and continue to game , or even when my neck gets sore from looking up at the tv this device allows me to play more comfortably. Very exceptional updates every month as well and it doesn’t lag and depends on the WiFi connection .

Are you in bed, feeling a little sleepy, but can’t resist the PS5 calling to you from the living room? Don't worry about disturbing anyone with the TV light—this device has got your back! As a dad, husband, and remote worker, I understand how tricky it can be to squeeze in gaming time. The PSR has been a game-changer for me, allowing me to enjoy my favorite games while the family is sound asleep, all without interrupting their peace.
I find myself using it more often than I realize because I genuinely love its lightweight design and stunning screen. Here’s hoping for a PS5 Vita in the near future, as that would be an incredible addition!
Great value and quality all around.
Gamer Dad Approved!

I bought this for my husband, thinking it would keep him happy on days when he couldn’t hog the big TV mission accomplished! The PlayStation Portal is basically a magic mirror that beams the PS5 straight to his hands, letting him play in bed, on the couch, or while I’m watching my shows. Peace was restored in our marriage immediately.
Setup was painless (even he figured it out without a YouTube tutorial), and the streaming quality is surprisingly smooth as long as you have good Wi-Fi. The controls feel almost exactly like a DualSense, which made the transition seamless.
Downsides? Well, now he’s playing everywhere which means I occasionally have to fight for his attention, but that’s a small price to pay for a happy gamer husband.
If you want to treat your gamer partner (and maybe even keep your TV to yourself), the PlayStation Portal is absolutely worth it. Just be warned: you might need to schedule your date nights around their remote gaming marathons! :)

I love this device! With the new update that PlayStation has made to the portal..I no longer have to have ps5 console to play my game library. Seeing that I sold my station 2yrs ago..this allows me to stay connected! BEST DEVICE IVE PURCHASED IN AWHILE

The PlayStation Portal is a good alternative to play PS5 games remotely with wireless connectivity. It’s sleek, simple to use, and ideal for players who want to game away from the TV—but it has some limitations. When playing GTA 5 online you do get some lagging but it’s not terrible.

I belong to a specific demographic that stands to gain the most from this product. It's important to acknowledge that this device may not appeal to everyone, primarily because the Portal serves a singular purpose: remote PlayStation 5 (PS5) gaming. This means it's only useful if you already own a PS5.
As someone who predominantly plays games during nighttime hours and needs to be considerate of my sleeping spouse, the Portal fits seamlessly into my gaming routine.
The Portal's ergonomic design closely resembles the comfortable feel of the DualSense controller. Its screen boasts vibrant brightness and objectively offers a more visually pleasing gaming experience than my smartphone.
In terms of performance, I haven't encountered any significant latency issues while using the device. Although occasional hiccups do occur, they are infrequent and haven't hindered my gaming experience. It's worth noting that I use this device in conjunction with Ubiquiti 6 Enterprise Access Points for reference.
In all honesty, my search was for a device that would allow me to play my games when the TV is occupied or when I wish to avoid disturbing my family, and the Portal accomplishes this admirably.
I even put it to the test on hotel Wi-Fi, and it performed exceptionally well. I was able to enjoy a significant portion of Spider-Man 2 using the Portal, and it didn't feel like I was compromising the gaming experience.
Here are some areas where I believe there's room for improvement:
- The ability to stream PlayStation Plus games.
- Incorporating an OLED and HDR screen for enhanced visual quality.
- Offering 1440p or 4K streaming options.
On the downside, there are a couple of aspects I didn't like:
- The absence of Bluetooth connectivity.
- The inability to replace thumbsticks.

Great remote play device to play your home ps5 games on the go. Easy to set up and has the perks of dual sense controller at your fingertips. It’s not a standalone system so make sure to have a ps5. Downside is LCD not oled display and no Bluetooth support but the price is reasonable.
