I love this PlayStation portal but it dose not work without a PlayStation 5.

Choppy and laggy to the point of being unplayable. I have Xfinity home internet and it’s very fast. I regularly stream many games/media on many devices and it’s always great. This thing does not work. It can barely connect and when it either doesn’t register button pushes or registers them like a million times. I used to stream ps4 to the vita and it was wayyyy better than this. Yikes.

I have excellent internet connection/speeds, my PS5 is directly plugged into my router, and I still ran into issues with the Portal freezing up and losing connection. When it functioned properly, it was pretty cool. My ps5 is in my office, so it was nice to play on the couch. But my short gaming sessions with the portal were riddled with these kinds of issues. Faulty device maybe? But remote play functions fine on my phone anywhere in my home. Ended up returning. The screen is nice though, even though its not an OLED.

This was a Christmas present for my son, but he used my phone and saw this on the phone. Thanks for ruining the surprise you Dolts

The screen and feel are amazing! The down side is the connection. First it take a long time for it to connect to the PS5 even when sitting right next to it. Secondly it freezes when playing the games at time. Thirdly it knocks you off the system all together and you have to try and connect again all over again. Im currently trying to reconnect to wwe 2k23. Strongly considering returning the item.

Cosmetically its a good looking handheld device but even with a very good internet connection there a lot of time lapse or lagging in playing games

The PlayStation Portal seemed like a good idea on paper: howver the delivery could have been much better. Since this is a streaming device, it solely relies on your Internet connection. This might not be a problem until there is an outage in your area that you cannot control. There is also the quality control issues. Unfortunately my unit left stick cannot move up or down and clicks when rotating. This seems to be a common issue, so if you are buying one, be sure to check the sticks! Sadly, best buy wont accept my return now so i must deal with Sony...

Make sure your Internet is up to par to handle steaming your games. It helps to have your PS5 hardwired, if you don't it will hinder portals performance.

Doesn’t connect to the PS5 while in rest mode so kind of useless to have.

the idea of this item is amazing. however the outcome was not. we have pretty dang good internet...and it freezes and drops games all the time. absolute waste of money. has sat for months collecting dust.

Great idea in theory but you need blazing fast WIFI to stream off of the console. The cloud play with the Playstation Plus subscription is the only alternative but it's another subscription fee on top of everything else we pay for and they add up fast. Returned it after 24 hours.

Even with excellent, fast, stable Wi-Fi, you should be aware that constant stuttering, lag and disconnects are a likely prospect. People are resorting to disconnecting cables on their PS5 and changing settings (that should not need yo be changed) just to get it to work. Even after two software updates, the problems persist. Sony should have spent more time on perfecting the software/hardware before reasoning this to the public. Just know that YMMV.

Looks and plays nice when the wifi is strong enough which isnt when trying to connect from the Portal to the PS5. Hope there will be an update to improve that.

Returned. Liked the idea, very crisp screen etc. But returned because it was unplayable due to it continuisley disconnecting from my ps5, and was such a challenge and time consuming trying to get it to reconnect

Its okay, but would be great if it had support for 3rd party bluetooth headphones. As it is, generally not worth it unless you prefer to play away from the TV and are okay with the built-in speakers, wired headphones, or their custom wireless headphones. Also, setup for me was a huge pain as they must have been having server issues and kept saying (wrongly) that my network didnt support NAT.

Wish i could play without the ps5 but its nice to have it
