I ordered this Playstation Portal about a month ago, and let me tell you. It was an absolute nightmare trying to figure out how to make this portal run without any lag. After a week, I finally figured it out. First, I upgraded my internet speed to 1gbps in order to achieve high internet connection. I then used a cat8 ethernet cable to plug my Playstation 5 into my modem, since cat8 is one of the most powerful ethernet cables out there. Then I bought a wifi extender to boost the wifi signal throughout the house so my Portal would pick up a strong connection from anywhere in the house. Finally, I unplug the Playstation 5's HDMI cable from the back of the TV so that it's not broadcasting a picture two screens (TV and Portal). Just one. After all of that, I am no longer experiencing any type of lag and the remote play function is amazing. I love my PS Portal.

I absolutely love the Playstation Portal! As someone who has been playing handheld games since their inception (yeah I'm old) this is as close to perfect as I've played without spending a fortune. If the Portal were a standalone device there is no doubt that it be even harder to acquire. One question I see frequently is do you need a PS5 (yes) or somebody returning it because they were unaware that this is just a streaming device and cannot play games without a $500 console. Sadly it is not the PSP (Playstation portable) gen 2 we have been wanting. Since it is just a streaming device there are limits. If you have spotty wifi, plan on taking it away from your PS5's network, and thats before the battery drain issues. If you go into the settings some of the battery issues can be alleviated by turning down some of the unneeded lights, sounds, or vibrations. I am really happy with mine after a month. It feels good, looks good, and am happy to finally snag one.

Awful reviews not related to product.

What does not being able to get this have to do with the product itself? If you wanted it you shoukd have preordered it weeks ago instead of leaving 1 star reviews crying that you couldnt get it on release day. Just ridiculous. The product works exactly as advertised and has been reviewed by dozens of reviewers online that talk about the pros and cons and what it can and cannot do like streaming and resolution. Grow up people, do some research and stop rolling the dice on release day. The Ps5 debacle didnt teach you people anything?

Best bang for your buck for on the go gaming for PlayStation. As long as you’re close to the WiFi signal anywhere there’s hardly any latency on the portal.

PROS: -Simple setup -Amazing ergonomics -Full featured dualsense handles -Beautiful OLED screen -3.5mm headphone jack -Performs perfectly on home WiFi -Decent battery life (~6 hours) -No more fighting over the TV! CONS: -No Bluetooth -No browser so unable to connect to hotel or public WiFi that use a login page -Proprietary PlayStation Link (branded Bluetooth) headphones are expensive and have horrible reviews so I am stuck using my old Platinum headset with an aux cable. -Getting connected to iPhone hotspot with T-Mobile is a chore. -No battery percentage display

    Great Device for your PS5!

The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever come away from loving after going in loaded with skepticism. It's such a better experience than using your phone with a slap-on controller, and it works so much better than I was anticipating. I really love the freedom it gives me to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage ... The biggest things keeping the Portal from being a truly amazing device are its current lack of a way to access WiFi that requires a web browser to log in, and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio.

This is an awesome unit so far. It needs to be connected to wifi although I haven’t tried to tether to my phone yet but expect it to work as long as coverage is good. I read an article that siad that why it calles a Portal as it only lets you play your PS5 from away. I verified you cant stream from it but it does have all the benefits the the controller such as the haptic feedback and the resistances on the triggers. It was a blad to play Astros playroom on it. It doesn’t have Bluetooth but dies have the mic built in. Also the battry will last for several hours or possibly longer. The speakers seem a bit weak but will do the job but the biggest concern is using it on stable internet connection.

Will preface having at least fiber internet is recommended to avoid as much latency as possible while remote play gaming. Fantastic mobile option as the built in software provides the lowest latency of all remote play options while costing a fraction of the alternatives(steam deck/iphone/etc). The built in controllers are great, the screen is slightly bigger than a nintendo switch's and surprisingly very light to hold which is quite nice for bed gaming. My only complaint I have is that any game that uses the touchpad requires pressing the touch screen with your thumbs to mimic the button press as it does not have an actual hardware option for said button.

Absolutely love the ps pro! It worked well from about 50+ miles from my home. My only complaints are that it runs laggy if you have any type of download running to the point that it doesn't work at all and will disconnect. Theres also no way to access the internet from the device so any wifi that requires some sort of login like say an airport will not work. Outside of these small issues it runs smoothly. The screen size is perfect and graphics hold up very well on it. Its not too big nor too small and is easy to play/handle. I recommend getting a case to store it in when not in use.

Plays great as long as your ps5 is unplugged from tv. When the ps5 is plugged into a tv, it either drops frames or connection periodically. Even on wifi6

So I bought this directly from PlayStation. I was having nothing but issues and was about to return it. Until i figured out the issue is with having HDCP enabled on your ps5 console once i turned off HDCP I have had zero issues. Works fantastic. After talking to PlayStation support they are aware of the issue and working on a firmware update to resolve this. As of now this is the only work around to get this working properly that i have found. Hope this helps people having the lag fest I was.
